  1. They legitimized their "claim" with the tabletop systems. They need a product showing a license to continue the trademark. The tabletops got them that. Unless someone is willing to challenge their trademark in court, it doesn't matter if we license it as well.
  2. I would like to take this time to thank all of the people here who contribute to this great community. Whether you are a developer, gamer, or just enjoy the experience here. If you would like to say something nice or supportive, here is the place to do it. I'll start off by giving my thanks and appreciation to digress. He has made several new original IP games for the colecovision that are not only fun, but technologically impressive. If you haven't gotten any of his games yet you really should (Tank Mission, Boot hill, Mr. Turtle, and soon to be Barbarian).
  3. While this might slightly help them, their tabletop products solidify their claims on the trademark. They don't need our license for that, although it does slightly strengthen it. The other thing is that the only way their claim matters is if someone is willing to challenge them in court over it. This was looked at last year and no one was willing to put up the money to do it. So if no one is willing to challenge it, their claim will stand regardless of the licensing deals they procure.
  4. By that Logic if the MSX or Arcade games hadn't been created you would never have released any games. Implementing functionality to play SGM games is not copying your device. What Fred did with the juicebox was copying your device. The SGM is an expansion device that adds external ram and a sound chip to the colecovision system. Our system is just adding the MSX sound functionality digitally to allow the games to be played. Honesty I don't personally care about the SGM that much. But what I do care about is that the people of this community have spent a lot of money on these games and giving them the ability to play them. This must have accidentally been left off. It was just Super Game ModuleTM is trademark of Opcode Games I felt is was better to not reply and give myself some time to cool down so I didn't say anything I would regret. I did reach out to you last night but didn't hear anything back. If you are willing to license the SGM for the same fee that Coleco did I would definately take you up on it. I don't defend anything that was done in the past. All I can say now about the licensing is they are being very generous with the terms. Once again implementing functionality is not piracy. Piracy involves intellectual property or trademark theft, neither of which we are doing. You have no IP in the functionality. If we slapped your SGM logo on the box, that would be wrong. I brought this up last time you brought up these lies. You may have wanted to do Promethius back in 2012, but as you told me in a PM (that I am willing to share with your permission) You were approached late in 2016 by a new hardware development team and decided to pull support from my project and do your own thing with them (which you were totally entitled to do). What gets overlooked here is that unless you are Nintendo or Apple, most hardware platforms do not make money. The money is made in the games. With our system incorporating SGM support, we will be opening the door to lots of new people who would be able to purchase Opcode's games. Which would ultimately be a good thing for Opcode. This will be the last post from me about this, so there will be no more responses from me here. If anyone wants more details or information feel free to PM me
  5. There are definitely not bags of money going to Coleco and the amount is not enough to raise the price of the system at all. I can't defend the things that were done in the past, but all I can say is that they have been very generous with us.
  6. Hopefully I'll be able to post an update later tonight
  7. Switching over to a positive note: Newest assembled prototypes came in today
  8. I just want to clear up a few issues. First off there is no Intellectual Property in adding the ADAM extra RAM or the MSX audio chip into the colecovision. Opcode games has trademarked the phrase Super Game ModuleTM, but that does not LEGALLY prevent anyone from adding those same functions into the Colecovision. Out of respect for Opcode games we originally decided to not directly implement those functions into our system. We had worked out a way to provide the user a way to plug in their SGM into our system to allow the customers to play their SGM games. But it is the lack of respect and attempt to undermine our project by releasing a colecovision+SGM system that directly competes with us that leads us to where we are now. Opcode claims that he is doing the "promethius lite" system to provide an alternative to our project due to the licensing issue, but he is forgetting that he announced it before the licensing deal was even announced. This just shows that he has no respect for what we are trying to do and is actively trying to sabotage our project. Releasing just a colecovision+SGM would be like us releasing a "SGM like" device to compete with the SGM (which we have the ability to do and even improve upon), but we would not do that as we are not trying to step on Opcode's toes.
  9. Wow. I thought spacy fury 4 was bad. Frenzy is either much worse or I just suck at this game
  10. Yes Original controllers will still work The license is for the use to use the Colecovision name, logo, and a set of games.

  12. A colecovision with F18a HDMI output will be out soon that will hopefully be in the same price range mentioned above
  13. It might be nice for potential new customers if there was a compatibility rom they could run on their system so they could see if the system would run the full game. It wouldn't have to contain any of the actual game, but it would let the customer know if the game would run on his system. I imagine it could be like the SGM test rom that checks to verify whether the SGM is plugged in and working. This way the customer would know ahead of time before purchasing the game whether it would work or not.
  14. I think he was referring to colecovision systems that don't play the game properly.
  15. Lot of stuff going on this week. I'm hoping to have an good update around the end of next week.
  16. So.... my actual cart plays fine on my F18a system. If I try changing out the cart for the atarimax it stops at the location. Same hardware and controller, the only thing changed was the cartridge for the atarimax. DRM maybe?
  17. Even if they used the RPi, they would still legally have to be an Adopter and pay the fee since the final product has HDMI output on it.
  18. Worst comes to worst you could install F18a which would bypass the ram.
  19. hate to say it, but there are a lot of lifted pads there. I imagine it is going to take a lot of work getting that going.
  20. Mine shipped July 4th as well and was in NY on the 6th. It made it to NC today.
  21. Technically the Audio is already jumpered as you have to solder the audio wire to the board
