So I just read an old article that (basically) said Microsoft would release the Microsoft Scorpio (Or possibly XBOX Scorpio), an XBOX that is Backward and FORWARD compatible so you never have to buy another one, and SONY would release PlayStation NEO which was supposed to do the same. I don't keep up, but... Those never happened right? Like the Jaguar VR...Or they changed the name and their game plan.

2016. I think Sony's became PlayStation 4 Pro (or something) and Microsoft released a Scorpio Edition XBOX, whatever that is. Like I say, I really don't keep up, but the idea seemed intriguing...Not sure how they'd do Forward compatibility; Seems like it would require an analog update of some sort. For example, (quick idea off the top of my head) a hardware module that snaps into the unit...

Scorpio Edition was the “limited edition” launch of Xbox One X. It just had some fancier artwork and a scorpion or something engraved on the CPU.
Technically, they’re keeping that promised “forward compatibility” stuff so far, as I understood it to be. They were basically saying that all games made from that period forward will be guaranteed to work on their future hardware. So all games released from that point for Xbox One would be 100% compatible with their next console (series X) and the ones after that (Series XX, and Series XXX or whatever) and so on…
So if you buy a Series X, should be able to say “this is backwards compatible with all XBox One games.“ And several years from now, Series XX should be bc with everything from Series X and Xbox One. And several years from that, Series XXX should be bc with Series XX, Series X, and Xbox One.They might blow it later, but seems ok so far. I think the big “get out of this promise free” card is gonna be how they’re leaning hard into streaming and cloud stuff. I dread it. I hate the thought of it. But that seems to be their next big thing.
