  1. I tried a 2N3904 per your suggestion, sorry, it worked (too well)!. No matter what, I couldn't get the motor to shut off. My 1010 is an early version and the LED powers on as soon as you plug it in. Anyway Ness Electronics sent the replacement NTE85's and all is well now, Thanks everyone, David Milsop
  2. An interesting little chip: 256 x 4 of non-volatile Static RAM, with a 100,000 write cycle life and a 100 year storage life. I guess my 33 years of storage is not such big deal. DavidMil
  3. I know all the chips in there but one, The X2212D. I looked it up. It's a Static Non volatile RAM chip. Never heard of anything like that in the early 1980's, so I intend to do some more research. I'll get back to you all (notice I didn't say ya'll) in a bit. DavidMil
  4. I found my old TeleLink II cartridge yesterday while rooting around in my attic. When I plugged it into my 800 lo and behold, there were two phone numbers from a couple of local BBS's that we used to download from. The two seven digit phone numbers have been patiently waiting these last 33 or so years to be used again. Ok, before I tear into the TeleLink II cartridge to see about downloading the contents, what did they use to save the phone numbers? If there is any interest I can post a picture of the opened cartridge so the 'guts' will be laid bare for all to see. DavidMil
  5. Well I found a company that said they had two left in stock. So I ordered both of them. 30 minutes later I got an email that said the parts had shipped. Wow! that was fast! Then,, two hours after that I got as phone call and the man on the other end said there was a mistake and they were out of that part. When I asked how it got shipped all I got was silence, and then an apology. They are going to send two NTE85's as replacements. I'm not going to say the name of the electronics company, YET. I'm waiting to see how long it takes to get the replacements David But they did manage to run the charge through on the credit card...
  6. Thanks Doc, you've done most of my work for me! David
  7. I think this thread is winding down, so once again I'd like to thank everyone for their input. I remember may of these game, but there are more that I've never heard of. I'm doing a little research now to pick a half dozen for her (and myself) to play. Thanks again, David Milsop
  8. I don't know if you're interested but if you have an old Atari 800, Thompson Electronics made a right had slot cartridge called 'Proburner'. It could burn everything from a 2716 to a 27128 and not just Intel's Chips. It could copy all or part of a chip from a cartridge in the left hand slot or from a diskette or cassette and put the data anywhere in memory so you could modify it using the built in machine language monitor. After you modified it you could write it back to an Eprom or save it to disk or cassette or even dump it to the printer. Eastern Front was set up for you to loose, so I gave all the Luftwaffe 255 points to start, then saved it to a disk, made it bootable, and played from the diskette. Mowed right through the Russians then. It's nice to have a cheat but it's nicer to know that you created the cheat! One of the nice things about it was that all the drives were built into the cartridge. David Milsop
  9. After looking at the NTE sight, I've decided to go with the NTE85. It's close enough, especially for a 1010 motor switch, and I can order it through Mouser. Thanks all, David Milsop
  10. At least with ebay you have some recourse if you don't get what you want/pay for. There is no way in the world I am going to order from a company in China that has a track record like this one (I know that you were just throwing that out as an example). I did go to NTE Electronics cross reference page to look it up. it shows it as a NTE85 NPN general purpose amp. If I can find a data sheet on the 2SC536F to verify that, I'll order it from Mouser. Thanks, David Milsop
  11. I'm looking for a part that neither Best or B&C carries. It's for a 1010 recorder, and per the Atari service manual... FS100237 2SC536F Transistor Q5 I'm getting power to the base of Q5 but it's failing to turn on so the motor won't spin when PLAY is pressed. However, FF and REW work fine. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, David Milsop
  12. I'm looking for a part that neither Best or B & C carries. It's for a 1010 recorder. Per Atari field service manual... FS100237 2SC536F Transistor Q5 I'm getting power to the base of Q5, but it failing to turn on, so the motor would spin when PLAY is pressed. However, FF and REW work. Thanks, DavidMil
  13. I also would highly recommend the 50 Watt versions: Atari part # CA017964 or CO17945 DavidMil
  14. Ok, you've stumped me here. I understand what you are saying , it's the similar to the way we get 240volts AC (off of two 120v legs that are 180 degrees out of sync). Did you post this on the wrong thread or maybe I didn't make it clear that we are talking about little 9Volt AC power supplies. Nothing to do with DC. David Milsop
  15. This was a long time ago but I remembered that my old 830 had a 24 volt power supply. Anyway, I was looking online when I came across a article in Atarimania that showed that there were two power supplies for the 830. One was 24volts @150mA 3.6VA (CA016751), and the other was 20Volts @ 400mA 8VA. The 835 fits right in between there: 20Volts @ 330mA 6.6VA (CO60479) & (CA060535). DavidMil
  16. Well. so far I've sent six requests to companies that make custom rubber stamps including movable date stamps. Three have said they are not interested and three never bothered to return my emails. I still have three more to go then I'm going to contact some of the rubber injection mold companies. And gargoyle, http://tgimpactprint...nnesmann-tally/ never did respond to either email. I may call them Monday. David Milsop
  17. Are the 830 and 835 power supplies the same (under the hood) with different parts numbers and text on the outside? If memory serves me correctly, they were about the same size and shape and had the same size connectors. DavidMil
  18. I was thinking of Best Electronics, but I see the price has gone up to $35.00. David Milsop
  19. Rats! I thought for a little while I knew a TV celebrity... It might not be a bad idea to hug a tree. The way the storms around the US are blowing them over, and the wild fires are burning them up, we may not have any in a few years. We will have to start calling them Cactus huggers! (That's Texas humor)... David Milsop
  20. I sent them an email Monday. I haven't heard anything back yet. I've been sending follow up emails about two days later. I'll send them a second one tomorrow. The last thing is to call. David Milsop
  21. Hey Mclaneinc, I've heard some rumors that the guy playing that organ in the buff was really you! The things a good employee will do for his company... Care to elaborate? David Milsop
  22. Filling those holes with something strong enough to hold against someone pushing in a joystick might be a problem. For myself, I would just order another bottom plastic for about 30 dollars. DavidMil
  23. The suggestions keep coming, and my list is getting long. But that's not a problem. Thanks to all for the suggestions and keep 'em coming. David Milsop
  24. Sweet. Looks like I'm going to have to order one myself. Wonder how it will look on my Samsung 60"... David Milsop
