  1. See now that's perfect. If I saw that at a goodwill or on some flea market table for a few bucks and it worked I'd buy that and store passwords. To anyone else it would look like outdated junk in a drawer, not the key to all the access they'd ever need. Bonus points if it has a password to access it on start to get to that data.

My buddy found one and learned enough to store names and numbers. I grabbed it, changed the header to say B!tch Boy and placed it back on the table. I didn’t activate the password protection, I'm just a jerk not a dick, and waited. It took a bit for him to figure it out as I wasn't being helpful. I did show him how to set up a password in the end.

  2. Unless they share similar capabilities in the enhancement department, two competing standards will result in marketplace fragmentation. Then someone will have to build a system that supports both potentially incompatible enhancement standards. Do re really need a VHS/Betamax style format war in the homebrew community? This is why you guys need to compare notes and create compatible designs.

That makes a ton of sense to me as part of the target audience. It seems shared costs would be desirable on the business side also.

  3. I completely disagree. At least, me personally, I wouldn't have the least bit interest in it. There's no official software. An entire system / platform consisting of nothing but crappy homebrew garbage? Screw that. I'd rather play Mythicon games for 6 hours straight then play that garbage.

If this was a SNES/PlayStation combo system (like say a Sega Neptune) then it would be cool & unique. But as it sits, with no known games ever having been programmed for it, it's a cool looking unique SNES system & conversation piece.

A kickstarter for a Neptune would be of more interest to me. No more clunky 32X unit collapsing at the top of the Sega tower.

You know how crazy people are on the Neo scene and this is Nintendo. Sure on the cd side it would all be homebrews but with all the hackers it could be interesting.

  4. Commodore released the PET emulator for the C64 very early in that machine's life as a quick way to expand the 64's available software library. Of course the number of native C64 titles quickly outstripped those for the PET but it did provide some incentive for PET users to migrate.

PETs were the computers we used in high school, lol.

    Gawd am I old.
