  1. It was at that moment we all realized: CPUWIZ is a robot. Eh? Eh? Born the same year as he joined AtariAge? Eh? I'll see myself out.
  2. I feel like, analogy or not, if I were to drink that I'd get a horrible bacterial infection and die. Then my family can also blame it on corporate indoctrination, I guess. Edit: keep that away from your kids.
  3. A lot of us don't think it utterly sucks, but if one thing's clear, we don't have the faith to back something that seems in shambles. I like the idea of a new Atari console, but as some people have said in this thread, there is a lot of work ahead of you. You need to hire engineers and, as mentioned, you need a "killer app". Something to make people want to buy the product, if it ever materializes. You can't expect to succeed by pandering to the niche market of retro gamers, who have already exposed a lot of BS.
  4. At this point I really REALLY REALLY hope that Atari just dies permanently. I'd rather have it be dead and gone than "mostly dead" and rifling through everyone's pockets for loose change. Wait a minute. Strike that, reverse it. Thank you. I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do with a lifetime supply of chocolate...

And he pretty much dedicated his life to keeping the peace in Europe afterwards. After he got sacked by Wilhelm II, all hell broke loose.

There wasn't really a right or wrong in the great war.

The Crimson Gallery is now open 24/7 and admission is free. Be sure to stop by the office for coffee and biscuits before you leave!

  8. Oh. Oh God. I've turned into my father.
  9. A big part of me wants consoles to exist forever -- they've been a thing since 1972 and I would hate to lose the concept. I guess though, like you said, they have become redundant and are no longer "consoles". I think the reason is because powerful PC architecture has become cheap enough to replace them. In a way, consoles were an avenue to make video games affordable, when computers were thousands of dollars and only used for "serious business". I dunno though.
  10. Yeah, I'm getting tired of having to play the damn console on my lap. Time to find a deal on some 12ft controller extension cords...
  11. Actually, I think that's the back in the second diagram. Edit: Source: I have a heavy sixer and that's what the back looks like.
  12. I've always thought the 2600 looked like an old 70's analog synthesizer. This just solidifies the thought in my mind. Or maybe it's subliminal messaging to buy the synthcart and a pair of keyboard controllers.
  13. OK. I just tried the brightness of the TV and I guess it's good enough.
  14. Is there a way to adjust the brightness of the video signal? After I installed a composite mod kit in my 2600, the brightness is so low that playing Space Invaders at the right color configuration is almost impossible. And yes, I know about the color potentiometer. I feel like there should be a better option than adjusting the brightness of my TV to unnaturally high levels.
  15. I'm curious. Has anyone ever installed a fan in their 2600?

  16. Yeah, I also find that I enjoy Pac-Man a lot when I happen to pop it in time to time. It's not like Miniature Golf, which I hardly ever play. I think, like you said, people don't judge it by its own merits. And it's interesting that you mention the goal of eating all the ghosts. I never knew that.
  17. Oh, I know. I was talking about this site in general. This site is dedicated to the REAL Atari, is it not? I'll shut up now, until I know I have something smart to say. Edit: The real Atari, meaning the one of the 70s and 80s.
  18. That tech review site was obviously being sarcastic.
  19. Hey, I know nothing about either viewpoint here, and am still fairly new to this site, but from the tone of this conversation, I'd say we need to be more respectful. Seeing people keyboard scream at each other over such a beloved topic such as Atari makes my eyes water.
  20. The advantage of using the tiger for armed combat is that it not only eats the raspberry-laden foe, but also the raspberries!

  21. I don't have photo evidence, but these are the titles I beat this year (excluding the games I've seen on this thread so far). 1. Super Mario Bros. (NES) I beat it, after a lot of controller throwing, without using warps at all! That was spring break, I think. 2. Metroid (NES) With a walkthrough, of course. 3. Kung Fu (NES) Many times. This is a pretty easy game, but I thought I'd include it. 4. Batman: The Video Game (NES) Holy hell, was this hard. But I beat the Joker! YOUR MOTHER!!! 5. The Legend of Zelda (NES) First and second quest, in a row. A save file I had been working on since high school. 6. Mega Man (NES) The original. Not Mega Man 2. I beat it on cartridge, which is kinda cool I guess. This was also extremely difficult.
  22. How 'bout this? It's a little more retro. Do, for Doom, a raycaster Re, the one who sacked Alcorn Mi, your own Wii Sports master Fa, that awesome Famicom So, for so-so games like Skiing La, lag in an MMO Ti, "Timing is Everything" That will bring us back to Do, oh, oh, oh (I think "Timing is Everything" was a Texas Instruments slogan.)
  23. "What good is that happy lie? All you wanted from the start was to cry..."

  24. Well, I'm guessing that because Slot Machine isn't a big title like Asteroids or Yars' Revenge, it might not have been advertised at all, North America or otherwise. Plus, it's not that common of a title, anyway. Edit: I just checked the rarity database and there isn't an entry for the PAL version.
  25. I dunno, I'm excited to see where this goes. Atari's trying to get back into the console market again, and I think it's kinda cute. And yes, I know it's not the same Atari...
