When you say automap, do mean the visibility of the areas you previously navigated?
-
The maps don't reset when you change floors or go through airducts. The enemies respawn once you die so you have the kill them again.

Yes, I found the control setup and mapped the forward to J-Forward. "RT" was mapped by default, but I couldn't figure out what that was. However, I still cannot move the character in Haunted Houses. Edit: Well, it looks like it only works with the Modern Controller. And the "RT" is a button that is on the Modern Controller. Asteroids defaulted forward thrust to that RT button even though I only had the Classic Joystick connected. Users that don't have a Modern Controller may be in for a surprise.

No, I mean the character will not move forward, back, left or right.
-
I can't move my character in Haunted Houses. His eyes are moving only. Am I missing something obvious? Edit: It's not only Haunted Houses, but I also can't move the ship in Arcade Asteroids either. I can spin the ship left or right. In Atari Vault Vol.1, the ship moves as it should.

Thank you very much for this. -
Anyone know of any cheats for this? I'm stuck on morph planet with only one shield, and I can't progress any further. I also lost the ability to start at the beginning of the level.

I'm running Win 11 on a "Windows To Go" external USB drive. I know Microsoft states that Windows To Go installs do not support feature updates. The update was offered when I had Windows 10 (To Go) and I think it will be offered soon on my 11 (To Go). Has anyone successfully updated their Windows To Go? I'm wondering if it will mess with the boot partition on the VCS and screw that up.

I'm still debating if I should get this for the PS4 instead of the VCS. I feel the PS4 is more stable. I already had to replace the VCS once and then re-image that replacement once.- 332 replies

Just picked up a 7800 on eBay - needs repair - sometimes it does not work

Ray, I thought you were going to stop with unnecessary purchases so you can save some money? -
Yea, it was in the output from -listxml. I think it was on the display line. Something like "Pallete=somenumber". It was an easy way to tell how many colors were in a game... or if it was monochrome.
-
At one time, the palette of each machine was clearly listed in listinfo. I don't see that anymore. Is this info still available, perhaps somewhere in the source or am I just missing it?

You re-flashed it again and then connected the Ethernet, correct? -

When I tried re-flashing because of an update issue, I also waited a long time, and it didn't flash. I then swapped the thumb drive for a faster, better quality one and I was able to flash successfully. -
I gave up on RetroArch shortly after that post. The Paddle was not possible. I don't specifically recall the configuration in RetroArch but make sure the dip switches are set properly on the 2600-daptor for the joystick.

Atari VCS operating system won’t update. Help!
Atari Nut replied to DoesItMatter's topic in Atari VCS
The ethernet cable may help during that initial update but it's not a guarantee. I had issues months after my initial setup. The system went into an update loop where it would fail and then fail again the next time it tried. I had to send the unit back for that one. As long as you have the ethernet, it wouldn't hurt to leave it in. It's certainly faster and more stable than Wi-Fi.
