  1. I turned the Celtics/Warriors game back on to see if it got any closer in the second half... nope. Boston up by 53 points. Live by the 3, die by the 3 I guess.

  2. A little bit better, made it to the second level. The game grows on you! 15,400
  3. After a nice hiatus, we've started up the Sega Master System High Score Club for a Spring round. Come join the fun!

  4. That's the one! I didn't realize it was a homebrew, I was just in my list of roms and i was looking arond for a bonus game.
  5. A game I've never played (that I can remember, it looks vaguely familiar, maybe I tried the rom at some point). I checked it out briefly, seems kind of like a ninja-themed Rambo. Nothing wrong with that. This round runs February 26 - March 10. For a bonus point, play a port of the c64 classic Bruce Lee. Scores: @Zoyous 1,312,550 (+1) @Dashopepper 429,050 (+1) @wongojack 253,950 (+1) Roland 183,800 (+1) @neogeo1982 59,450 @BydoEmpire 17,400 (+1) @fakecortex 3,750 (+1)
  6. Due to popular demand we'll start this up again. Let me know if there are games you want play! Usual rules apply - be sure to read the difficulty or settings to play on, no continues or save states, please post screenshots if at all possible. I'm going to try something different with the scoring, only counting the top 5 scores (5 points to the top score, 4 to the next, etc.). Bonus game will usually be one point just for trying it. 7. I'll look at starting up a spring season, my schedule is a bit crazy right now but I can make time for the Master System!
  8. I'll think about it, thanks for letting us know you're interested. Anyone else want to see a spring round?
  9. Any FPS with a level that has a long series of precarious jumps automatically gets docked one grade from my review. They're not fun and nobody likes them. Don't try to show off how clever a designer you are by making players rely on the one thing FPS games don't - and can't - do well. Playing through Titanfall 2 now. It's a good game, but that one level... ugh, how frustrating and annoying.

  10. One of these days - I have some ideas for the torch mechanic. Glad you liked the demo.
  11. I turned 50 last year and I still enjoy playing Atari games, no reason to think I won't enjoy them the rest of my life. Collecting? I'm not actively seeking out Atari carts anymore, but if I saw something I didn't have and the price was right I'd pick it up. These days it's tough to find those deals, so who knows if I'll ever buy another (non-AA) cartridge. That's kind of an interesting thought. I think the last cart I bought was Piece O' Cake a couple of years ago.
  12. Finally finished Might & Magic: Cloud of Xeen. The original on the Apple 2 was one of my favorites, but I never finished it, so Clouds of Xeen is the first M&M game I've ever finished. Took about 30 hours. Really fun RPG, I liked some of the dungeons a lot.image.thumb.jpeg.23d889601bb09f44c3860237923b534a.jpeg

  13. I always liked it to. Our local mom & pop arcade - Fantasy Isle - had a Space Fury cab and it was one I always played when I went there.
  14. Family all slept late, so I got to play some Atari this morning (7800 Frenzy and 2600 Megamania). Merry Christmas, Atari Age!

    1. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

Need to play some video games myself this day...Merry Christmas Bydo!

  15. One of my very favorite 2600 games: Ghost Manor!
  16. After 20 years of living in our house my wife found the magic light switch, that apparently did nothing, actually controlled power to two (not all) of our outside motion detection lights. All these years they seemed kind of flaky, sometimes working sometimes not... I flashed back to Christmas Vacation when Clark couldn't figure out why his Christmas lights weren't working. Exactly the same thing.

  17. Tell me what game you'd like to see released by Atari in the future for the 2600+ 4-in-1 Swordquest cart, with repro feelies. All four games in one cart with instruction manuals, comics, etc. I always liked the series, but I just got Fire/Earth loose through garage sales 30+ years ago.
  18. It's the idea of a game I want to make - usually a general game mechanic paired with a setting. It's not really visual concept, more gameplay concepts (maze game with this feature, side scroller with that mechanic, etc). I (almost) always have a theme or setting as well, which goes hand in hand with it. Everything follows those two, but games always evolve along the way. I never start with a clear picture of the final product and work backward, I start with a general direction and see where the hardware and the game itself take me.
