The Intellivision Amico is dead…

The market research much also be telling them to still be redesigning the PCB and other things in 2022 for a console ready for 2020.
Via Nick Richards - "We feel confident that we will be able to take some significant cost out of the system as we move forward. Now that we are gathering more data on running the system in different environmental situations, we are starting to get a better understanding on how the system is generating heat as well as new PCB layout options – both allow us to simplify/shrink the PCBs and thus reduce cost. Now that we have gone through a couple iterations on the assembly line we also feel we can make some simple design changes to reduce assembly and test times, in turn reducing cost and increasing production throughput."

It’s gorgeous outside. The sky is a dark blue and the temperature is a comfortable 70 degrees. How’s the weather where you live today?

Mark Suckerberg is standing before Congress today. He has to explain why Facebook was collecting private data not related to his FB app. I bet he’s peeing his pants right now.

Note to self: be careful when eating microwaved popcorn. I bit into a kernal and broke a tooth loose. Talk about painful! It’s time to see the dentist...

Circuit City is making a comeback! They also plan on reopening their brick and mortar store locations. You can visit their new website and join their mailing list to find out if a store is coming to your location. http://circuitcitycorporation.com/

So much for Spring! We went from 30 degree weather straight into the high 90s here on the East Coast! It’s gorgeous outside. What’s the weather like where you live?

What did you buy today?

Nothing today, but hoping to find something this weekend. The Highway 80 garage sale is this weekend. Last year I found a couple tubs of stuff (three 2600s and lots of various controllers) for $5. https://www.facebook.com/Hwy80Sale/

We lost my brother today. I’m devastated. He was (and is, and always be) my best friend. We were like two peas in a pod. I remember us sitting in front of a giant, wooden Sylvania tv, and playing Atari Smurfs together, and him gleefully grabbing the second controller of the Intellivision, and deliberately killing my guy off in AD&D. He thought it was funny to have the blobs kill me guy off. Lol

Had a bad scare last evening. My mother was doubled-over in pain and passed out. Thank God she is fine today, but last night was terrible. She arrived at the ER about 7pm last night (I arrived by car roughly a half hour after her).
Boy, the quality of Hospitals today are terrible. They were severely understaffed and they were sloooow. None of us (family that attended for morale support, including myself along with my mother) didn’t get home until 5:30am the next day.
Luckily her situation wasn’t serious and it was a slightly inflamed colon from eating something that didn’t agree with her.
I’m up for the day with less than 3hrs of sleep under my belt. I just thank God my mother is healthy and doing well.
So if you’ve sent me some private messages and I haven’t yet - please know that I will as soon as I can.

@ColecoGamer Yeah Mike. I was down there when I had issues with Covid. The ER was packed like going into a DMV office. My results came back similar like having a usual cold during the winter season. But sadly in my location, hospitals hare overwhelmed with patients and receiving appointments can take months.
-
My elderly mother is really sick, and she is refusing to get Covid tested. This has me really stressed out. Is it wrong to say that I feel like the parent right now?

Hey, that is a fantastic idea, Charlie. It’s funny you should mention the home kits. I was just at the local gas station filling up the car. When I walked in to pay, they had Covid in-home kits available for purchase. I don’t picture gas stations as the best place to get one of these kits, but the timing of your comment and my seeing this in-home kit is coincidental.
-
@doctorclu I’m happy to hear that your father is doing well. This Covid virus is no joke; it ruins lives rather quickly. I can’t wait for the pandemic to be over, if this isn’t just wishful thinking on my part. It feels like you are jeopardizing your own life by just grocery shopping. I’m sure I am not alone in thinking that I never thought I would live to see a modern day plague sweeping through our world.
-
@ColecoGamer. Good to know. Sorry for the dely. Did you ever purchase the home kit bro?

Ghostbusters or The Real Ghostbusters? ?

@Master Phruby That is a very good movie and one that my dad and I have watched a few times. Definitely a very good one to check out.

Looks like I am finally getting an Atari Jaguar! Any recommendations on which homebrews I should buy?

Since I’m on their mailing list, I just received an email from IE. Here’s what it says, for those who still have an interest in the Amico:
Business Update
I wanted to take a moment to provide an update and also extend my apologies. As you know it was my goal to communicate with you by the end of February however, over the last few weeks we started discussions with potential investors/acquirers outside of the StartEngine universe. As we continue to work with them on a deal structure and terms, it has been agreed that we maintain a "quiet period" while negotiating. The magnitude of this type of deal will invariably have an influence on our path forward but are excited about the potential of a new groups' involvement with Intellivision and will update you as soon as we are able.
Thank you for your continued support and patience.

Oh wait, they already used a hard money lender. They just called him a "board member" and his loan a "contribution" while hiding the fact that he gets $100 from every console sold until his "contribution" is repaid (hint: that makes it debt, not equity)..... for as long as they could get away with it.
-
Also, another hint: it's very common for risky loans to have a covenant requiring that the lender get a seat on the Board of Directors to protect the lender's interests by being able to vote for the direction of the org. I wouldn't be shocked if there's a covenant requiring the Lender Board Member's approval for any major transactions. We'll never know since the loan agreement ("contribution") won't be public, nor are the bylaws, but I'd venture a guess that this is precisely what happened, and given their funding issues, is a complete nail on the coffin.

I’m sitting in the livingroom, listening to ice rain ping my roof. Spring what now?

Came down sick with either food poisoning or the stomach flu while at work last night. After getting home, I must have visited the porcelain god half the night. What a great way to spend my day off.
-
Wow. Glad to be back on my feet. Came down with what seemed like a stomach bug about a week and a half ago. It was a really bad virus because as soon as it felt like I was better, the symptoms returned. I hate being stuck in bed!

It looks like the first Neo Geo CD console is lost forever. I hope whoever confiscated my package ends up enjoying it! The eBay seller in question refunded my money, and I can only assume that they filed an insurance claim on their end. I turned around and purchased a second unit, but this time it was CIB. It arrived rather quickly from Japan (less than 5 days), and it works perfectly! I’m very happy right now.

I am finally a proud owner of an Atari Jaguar. The system came with Super Burnout, which is a really good game. It reminds me of Sega’s Super Hang on!
