  1. Want To Trade:

My second copy of Real Bout Fatal Fury 2: The Newcomers for Neo-Geo CD for either Magician Lord (NGCD) or League Bowling (NGCD), or possibly sell it for $110 w/ FREE shipping.

We just had to put our cat down because of cancer, so I will post pictures of the game in question, when we get home later tonight.

I have plenty of feedback as a buyer/seller in the Feedback Forum, if anyone is wondering.

I hope this style of post is ok in this thread, @Charlie Cat!

At the moment just the NEO-GEO CD Console and Samurai Spirits 2. That's me spent out for a month! lol

As soon as everything arrives, I'll post some pictures and give my opinion.

Ironically, my first Neo Geo CD game (back in the 90s) was the same game as you - Samurai Shodown 2. I played that game until my fingers bled. Lol My second game was The Super Spy.

Looking good Mike. Everything looks so perfect with not even a scratch on the cases. Now that's what I call a nice NGCD collection. I'm jealous. :D Now I have to build up my NGCD collection again, You done very well keeping up with them for sure brother man. :)

    Anthony..

Thanks, Anthony. It took time, money and determination to find all those games at good, decent prices.

I find that Japanese sellers have the best prices. The wait sucks, but the end result is definitely worth it.

I recommend that @shane857 does the same thing to build his Neo CD collection. Ninja Masters only cost me $85 from a Japanese seller, while US sellers want hundreds of dollars for it. Unfortunately, the cover has sun-fading from the previous owner,  but its not too noticeable.

Also, don’t be afraid to make offers if the sellers accept them. You might surprise yourself and your wallet!

Oh wow Mike. What a fantastic looking unit. It looks great for it's age and it also looks like it came off the assembly line. What a great purchase this is. What's the serial number on this console bro. :)

    Anthony...

I’m eager to know the serial number too. Once the system arrives, I’ll post it.

  5. Wish me luck! I purchased a Top Loading laser drive and brackets for my Neo-Geo CD. The videos I’ve seen show the repair process as easy and simple.

You remove the original laser drive and replace it with a new one; Nothing special is needed. I’ll document my progress once the part arrives. Sure, I have a fully functional CMVS, BUT I have a large collection of Neo-Geo CD games. I can’t see abandoning the console, you know?

I am a player and a collector. Love physical media over digital/roms. How reliable is the NEO-GEO CD drive? I know it reads slower than the CDZ console. 🤔 I would prefer to actually buy physical discs rather than add roms.

The CDZ has a double-speed CD-Rom drive, which makes it the better system of choice.

  7. I turned on my Neo Geo CD last night to record some gaming footage, and the CD drive is going bad.

It makes a machine gun sound when I first turn it on. Ironically, the system still powers on and the games boot from the Dashboard.

I suspect the CD drive is not long for this world. If replacement parts weren’t so expensive, I would buy a drive replacement. Console prices have dropped, though, so I might buy the double-speed unit as a replacement instead.

  8. Hey Everyone,

I am looking for a talented programmer to help me bring my new Neo-Geo game, Confection Perfection: Pastry Pete, to life on the Neo-Geo

The sprite work and music is done, but the backgrounds are a work in process.

@Charlie Cat, maybe you can grab and post the music I sent you some time ago; I had trouble taking them from the PM.

Pastry Pete is a 2D platformer. The player must pick up all the goodies, while jumping over the evil veggies and killing them with a rolling pin.

    The highest score wins!

Some levels are like Pac-Man, where Pastry Pete eats long lines of chocolate cookies. He eats gooey chocolate chip cookie dough balls to frighten enemies away for a short time. The player must eat all of these cookies to complete the level.

Other levels see Pete picking up cakes and pastries before the veggies can defeat him.

The boss is a giant Egg Plant that is determined to stop the player!

The game has been in development for 2 years. So again, I am asking for help from the Neo-Geo community.

    Let’s do this!

  9. I’m happy with my Japanese Dreamcast. I purchased a legal boot disc to play games from all regions. I’m mostly interested in arcade games, so I own a lot of fantastic 2D fighters for the system (mostly imports).

My prized possession is a CIB copy of Marvel vs Capcom 2. I play this game all the time. The disc drive works fine, so I don’t see an SD solution in my future.

What you removed should help lower shipping costs.

It makes you wonder if anything good was wrapped in any of that.

  11. The Loot Box didn’t contain a holy grail game or anything, but it did have some redeemable qualities: boxed Intellivision titles, replacement parts, and a lot of booklets, posters, etc. I found a couple of games I wanted (mostly loose carts), but nothing else interested me.  There was (if remember correctly) a collection of Smurf figurines from ‘83. Is this part of the stuff you removed?

I was happy with the lootbox. There was more filler than actual games, but what can you do? 🤷

  12.  @Charlie Cat

I purpose a Highscore Club for the NeoGeo thread. We have so many new games coming out, that it would be a shame to miss out on this opportunity.

We could start with Cyborg Force, and when Knight’s Chance and the others are released, we can move on to those games as well.

    What do you think, Anthony?
