  1. So I dug this old Percom Data AT-88 floppy drive unit out of the pile and it didn't work. But after cleaning the floppy sensor, lubing the rails, cleaning the head, and then 3D printing a broken plastic latch piece, the drive works great. This is a weird and very old single-sided, single-density floppy drive for the Atari 8-bit. I guess back in the day they just slapped things together and stuck them in a sheet metal container. I'm not sure what these are worth -- if anything. Anyone have any interest? Comes with original manual, a copy of OS/A (in bad shape, but does boot) and the OS/A manual. Oh yeah, an SIO cable is also included and the power cable is integrated. This thing does work now, but it probably needs continued care and maintenance to keep it running -- it is over 40 years old at this point. Send me a message if you have any interest. Thanks!
  2. Bingo! It was a bad MC14051B in the 2nd socket (farthest from the PIA). When replaced, all keys work. Thanks for the help all!
  3. Thanks all. I will double check all of those.
  4. So I've got this 800 and some of the keys do not work. I've tested the keyboard on another 800 and all keys test good. I've tested another keyboard on this 800 and same problem -- the keyboard has been ruled out. I've swapped the CPU and ROM boards with a known good 800 and that doesn't change behavior. CPU and ROM boards ruled out. Swapped out memory board without luck. Memory ruled out. I've swapped the POKEY and nothing. POKEY ruled out. I've check for obvious broken solder joins on the keyboard pin header, and reflowed the pins without luck. Are there any other ICs (like logic chips) that are known to be troublesome on the 800? Most of the keys works, but BREAK and ENTER (and maybe a couple others) do not. Weird!
  5. These keycaps look amazing! Any chance you'd do a set for the WASD VP3 61/62-key ISO keyboard(s)?
  6. The CMOS battery can be easily sourced. I decided to not put a new one in because it is buried deep and you have to carefully disassemble the entire thing to change it again. So instead I removed it while I had the laptop apart (and it had started to leak) and did not replace it. As for the NiCad battery that makes it truly a laptop, I don't know if anyone makes a replacement unit. I've had a few of these and the NiCads are always dead. As for the speed, you might be able to use CpuSpd (https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=74359) to slow down the Pentium for timing-sensitive games.
  7. SOLD! Up for sale is a very nice Toshiba Satellite 330CDT laptop. This item has the following specifications: 266MHz Pentium MMX 96MB RAM Active matrix TFT LCD display (800 x 600) 16GB compact flash card (original HDD replaced) CD-ROM Floppy disk drive Real Yamaha OPL3 sound chip More information here: https://support.dynabook.com/support/staticContentDetail?contentId=638187&isFromTOCLink=false The Toshiba CDT is a great Pentium era gaming laptop. It has a fast MMX Pentium CPU and a real Yamaha OPL3 sound chip for AdLib (and SoundBlaster) compatible audio in both DOS and Windows. It has a CD-ROM and floppy drive built-in, and a single USB port. This unit has been stripped and thoroughly cleaned. All batteries have been removed and disposed of. The CMOS does not keep time because of this, and the laptop now requires the include power adapter to run. There is no battery damage and LCD display has no dead/stuck pixels; everything works great! This item comes with the original PSU, a replacement 3rd party PSU, replacement floppy drive and CD-ROM (kept as spares just in case), and copy of the Toshiba Windows 98 recovery CD. The 330CDT's compact flash has been formatted and the Windows 98 recovery CD installed. Asking $120 + shipping.

  10. SOLD Up for sale is a Tandy CoCo3 computer case and keyboard ONLY (no mainboard or power board or cables or anything else). I have no idea if the keyboard works, but the plastics are not yellowed and look pretty nice. As I'm not really familiar with the CoCo line of computers, this appears be undamaged except for a slot cut on the bottom of the case which I do not see on stock photos of this CoCo3, so I'm guessing someone cut this in the case at some point. Anyway, maybe someone can use this? $40 + shipping? Please look at the photos for condition. No screws of any kind included. Thanks!

  18. Anyone interested in an almost new, complete in box Sony PlayStation VR2 for the PS5? I bought one for my son a few months ago on a whim thinking he might want VR for his PS5, but nope, he's all in on the Oculus Rift for his PC. So, I have this PS VR2 that has been used for less than 10 minutes complete in original box sitting in the basement. I plugged it in to make sure it worked and then it went back into the box. Thinking $300 + shipping for this thing? Thanks!
  19. No offense to the Atari 400 mini, but I don't really want another ARM-based software emulation device. The RM800XL appears to be a much better recreation of the A8 with modern updates than the stuff coming out of Atari. Hoping they make it to the finish line!
  20. Up for free: Toshiba T3200SX parts: case with plasma screen and mainboard. No FDD, PSU, HDD, or keyboard, or screws. Last time I checked, mainboard does not post, but plasma screen works with a line down one side. If you have a T3200SX with a broken case or dead screen, this will help fix you up. XBOX version 1.6 mainboard, works XBOX version 1.6 mainboard with LPC rebuild and mod chip, works 2x XBOX version 1.6 PSUs, both work Just pay shipping or pickup in Seattle!

  23. a real disk/cart with a box and everything?? YES! YES! YES!
  24. Just finished the build of the "vintage" Decent XE keyboard kit for a 130XE. Overall, this is a nice kit that provides a radically improved typing experience on the XE. Some random thoughts: The kit is well-made and shipped very nicely in a durable package so it arrives safely. Really pro. The maker of the kit (ScreamingAtTheRadio) is super nice, friendly, and helpful. Once assembled and installed, it looks like the OG XE keyboard. You simply cannot tell it's been upgraded. That is, until you start typing! The included switches are just slightly "clicky" and have nice travel and tactile feel. Every key press is registered with a click. I really like the feel of them. No more mush!!! The assembly is pretty easy, though can be a little bit tricky. For the "vintage" kit, the steps must be in this order: (1) assemble spacebar stabilizer, (2) install spacebar stabilizer on bottom plate, (3) place top plate on top of bottom plate/stabilizer, (4) pop key switches onto top plate, (5) double-check everything, (6) triple-check everything, (7) solder. Read the instructions on GitHub thoroughly before doing anything. The key switch legs do not come all the way through the bottom plate. Use a fine tip on your solder iron to reach the legs in the through holes. If you have experience soldering, this is a breeze. The top plate needs spacing between it and the bottom plate. I ended up making some 3D-printed "clips" to put around the edge to keep it spaced evenly. Re-use the spacebar spring from the XE keyboard. Mine was a little "long" and would pop the spacebar. I had to modify the spacebar adapter to lessen this. YMMV. NOTE: The keyboard cable/adapter that plugs into the XE mainboard needs the top shielding removed. This is a fun build project (if you like that kind of thing). Once installed, the keyboard slides around a little bit inside the case. I need to experiment with either some tape or maybe a 3D-printed "stop" that keeps it in position. If you have a 130XE and want a nice, mechanical keyboard for it that looks original, this will do the trick quite nicely.
