  1. Hello guys! It’s not dead!! Like I said before, the pandemic was one great reason that the project was on hold (other reason was that I got a personalbreak from the project), but I’m happy to say that we already got together and played a whole game and the rules work perfectly!! We are still making some “administrative decisions” (like not wanting to canibalize(?) cartridge cases from classic cheaper games). It’s a great and long awaited game, and we want that the experience we all get from it to be perfect!!! I’m to blame for the lack of new information and further development, but, again, it’s still on!!

  2. Hello everybody!! We are waiting until everyone involved are fully vaccinated (every one already got their first shots and I’ll get my second next week) so we can get together, play the game, test the rules and chips, check what needs to be changed, and what’s working and then, finally, we’ll move to the last stage, which is start production.

  4. I bet there is lots of money to be made from reproduction boxes. I wonder why there isn't a dedicated company for this ? Don't have the money to put up ? Or is there a copyright issue ?

I recently got a repro Atari 2600 box, and it's just gorgeous. Would love a Vextrex box.

That's a good point you raise, sir. I guess, putting the copyrights aspect aside, it isn't a cheap project. I myself tried to make just one for myself and it turned out really expensive, almost to the point that It would be better getting a real one... There are two people I know of in Brazil that sells them, one makes with cardboard but the majority lack in quality of the art material and there's another one that makes them in mdf and they are really beautiful, but very expensive.

Would you mind sharing pics of that Atari 2600 repro box? I'm really curious now.

  5. I ended up brightening the heck out of the darker one since the text is clearer. I think it'll work. I'll just use one color on the border and ignore what the graph says. It's 59 colors though, yeesh. I have to get a lot of different yarn, so while I do that I started a PlayStation Klonoa rug for a friend that only uses 17 or 18 colors. Thank you though!

Sure!! And if you need anything artwise, please let me know!! And let me say that's a great idea, I think you are on to something here. Whenever you feel like making a Zelda one for some brazilian friend, remember who your brazilian friends are!!!

  6. Everything looks very well done (game, ad, website). Very professional. Do you know if he's planning on creating an English language version of his website? Google translate works pretty well, but I don't understand the purchase options.

There's a link there for a brazilian auction site, like ebay, for domestic purchases. For international purchases you can let him know through his email and make a paypal transfer directly to him. I'll get back to you with his paypal email. And if you dont want to send him an email, i can let him now myself.

  8. So, the next natural step for me would be to try and make a 3d printed cartridge. So I did, even with my lack of experience with 3d softwares, it wasn't so hard. The only thing I couldn't figure out was how to make round edges, but even with sharp edges it turned out nice. But when I tested it, the part where the bolts are attached aren't close enough, so the card came a little loose, so it didn't work, but it's just a minor adjustment. Here are the pics:

  9. If you're going to pursuit it I think the best is looks for a cart mold.

Yes, definitely. But I think it's too expensive, and my intentions are solely for fun and personal use. I just show you guys the results because you always give great and respectable feedback (good or bad) and if someone gets interested on some of it, I can make it available.

But If I stumble to a different option or find better prices, I'll share with the community.

  10. I'd be curious as to what you did trying to make a mold?

The main thing I was thinking of, was making an actual mold with the 3D print file (if that is possible) and making injection molded cases from a factory. Pretty much guessing it would not be cheap at all, plus such things usually have a large order amount to each run.

On the other hand, how did you go about making the 3D file for printing these cases? Scan an older case, or are you super good at this type of thing? It does look very well done. Possible to get close-ups of the hinges and the slot area for the index card?

Here's a small video of the hinges

  11. Another way to do it is laser cutting acrylic boards.

But will be a nightmare to assembly and glue together all the parts... :(

Perhaps, you can use acrylic just for the cover?

Edit : Inject mold is not less than 3k last time I research about.

Not to mention the expensive initial batch, like minimum 1k pieces to start.

The cover part would be a nightmare as well, because of small, thin pieces I think. But there's always someone willing to all kind of stuff. i know I would if I had the time, material and the dexterity for it.

  12. I did some research on prices from Chine, but not using the 3d printed but with the actual case. I don't remember the prices exactly, but I can search my emails and get back. it was expensive, I remember that.

For the file, I made it from scratch on a 3d design software using the measurements from the original. It wasn't so hard since it's almost sharp edges, only a few round ones. I am far from super good at this, but with some researching and studying, I got it right.

Here are the pics you requested.

I didn't do any post adjustments, this is directly from the bed.
