  1. Speaking of which, I notice that when I load Crime Buster, Crossbow, or Commando APE mirror loading stops at 'Segment 02E2 - 02E3'. On Crime Buster there is no sound, on Commando and Crossbow I get a black screen with the farty SIO timeout noise. If I try loading them though a MyPicoDos 4.04B boot disk pointed an an APE mirror, they will load farther (commando seems to load all the way) even if they don't work. (?) I'm using APE 3.0.2 with USB SIO2PC (though serial behaves the same). Unfortunately there's a lot of INIT blocks (segment 02E2-02E3)... Just tell me: are you able to get through the first part? In other words: do you see blinking "> copying data <" text? F.
  2. Yes. It's possible to make a conversion of original dump (no g2f title picture and no rmt title music) for 192kB expanded system. See the attachment for 192kB version. It works fine in emulator but I don't have any system with just 192kB of XMS so I can't test it on real HW... F. Commando_192.zip
  3. I expected these problems. Various expansions are NOT 100% compatible and that was the reason I originally didn't want to make any conversion for more than 64kB of expanded memory as at least 130XE SHOULD be 100% compatible. Sorry. I can't do anything with those problems. All my conversions are working fine on my two expanded systems (Rambo and Compy) with 256 KB of XMS. That's all I can say. F.
  4. Hi all! OK. Here we go. But this is not just a pure conversion as usually. This is a hack with new title screen and title music! Credits: Fandal: file version & additional code emkay: G2F title screen sack/cosine: RMT title music Raster: idea of hack & online ICQ assistance Enjoy! F.
  5. 83 8B 8F A3 A7 AB AF C3 C7 CB CF E3 E7 EB EF FF I guess the answer to this is probably that a 256K Rambo style upgrade doesn't have enough extended RAM banks . I guess bank $87 is missing on your list but all my conversions should work with your expanded system. I have the same one installed in my Ataris and there's no problem. My conversions of 128kB carts need typically 15 additional banks, i.e. 256 kB of expanded memory. Unfortunatelly I have no idea why Crime Buster/Crossbow don't work on your real HW. You're the first user who reported some problems. F.
  6. Just tried both of them and they work fine loading via APE mirror. Please, run attached detection program on your Atari and let me know which banks were found... F. Detect.zip
  7. It's '130XE compatible' which I assume means XE compatible with everything but that funky ANTIC mode. SI identifies it as 'extended 130XE' I tried the file version of Crime Buster with the APE mirror load (and the same methods above) and it didn't work either. I loaded Hexxagon just fine though with the APE mirror. That's not good. OK. Try some file version of 64kB XEGS cart, like Deflektor or Tower Toppler. I hope it should work. It's really weird why Crime Buster or Crossbow don't work on your system. Load procedure should work even with independent ANTIC access as display list and screen data are not located in $4000-$7FFF switchable memory area... F.
  8. Using APE, booting a disk in D1 and having the APE mirror as D2 with regular XE BIOS: Using mypicodos it crashes and corrupts the onscreen characters after a short load. Using Spartados 3.2G it does a long load, corrupts the onscreen characters and crashes. - And using the PC mirror by itself with no boot (just the APELOADER) crashes immediately. Then I got tired and ran out of ideas. What config are you using that works fine? I usually use direct loading via APE mirror. But may be there's a problem with expanded banks. What type of expanded memory do you use? I have several types of expanded memory systems of my real Ataris and all my conversions don't work on certain one. BTW: are you able to load my file version of Crime Buster? F.
  9. It should work with APE. At least it works fine for me. Could you tell me where is the problem? Does it start loading or freezes immediately? F.
  10. Yes, it's jerky. And I don't think it can be fixed as the game engine simply doesn't use any synchro. VBI is disabled and sometimes a lot of data is being moved and it can't be done in one frame. F.
  11. Whooha! Thank you very much for the pointer. "There’s believed to be 8 hidden bonus areas to find, across the 8 different levels. So far only 5 have been found." Very interesting! F.
  12. Hi all! I've been playing with Commando recently a I wonder how many secret passages this game has. I was able to find some in the first area of each two missions but none in higher areas. Any ideas? Regards F.
  13. In another thread someone said that it really is a proto, which somehow got to selling instead of a finished version. I hope it still exists somewhere. Actually, if someone was able to just fix the scrolling problem it would make a huge difference in the playability. Well, I have source of Desert Falcon but I'm not sure what exactly do you call "scrolling problem". Do you mean problem with displaying falcon or what? F.
  14. Hi all! The title says it all. File version of Crossbow has been successfully finished. F.
  15. 6,350 One of the most frustrating games I've ever played on A8. F.
  16. Hi! I'm working on file version of 64kB XEGS cart "Desert Falcon" and I was really surprised how bad this game is. I've neved played Desert Falcon on A8 before so it really was a shock. It looks more like unfinished proto. Lousy sounds, not very good graphics and faulty game engine. When I tried this game for the first time I couldn't believe I have the original dump. So I searched the net, tried different webs to download the dump but with the same result. Game engine simply sucks!! Main character disapears from time to time, it's displayed on wrong position or it has wrong colors. How could Atari officially release this poor game? Or am I missing something? Your opinions, please. F.
  17. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=260145333593 Fast Food by Telesys does exist for A8?!?! F.
  18. 813,680 Please, don't force me to play it again. F.
  19. Hi! Your demo looks very nice! Good work! If you want to use some cross-assembler, try MADS instead of Xasm. I use MADS and it's really great tool! For MAC/65->PC conversion you can use MAC2MTX tool by Raster. Usage is: mac2mtx file.m65 [file.mtx] [-num] where file.m65 is input file, file.mtx is output file and -num switch keeps line numbers used in MAC/65 source in output file (default is not to export line numbers).
