  1. There's still time to list, sell, and win! Don't miss this chance to get some cash for your extra stuff and have a chance at winning a great prize at the same time! Don't forget to message me when you pass $50 in sales so I can have Mike enter you in the drawing!
  2. label is pretty beat I don't know..... It's the second best one I've seen on eBay this month.
  3. I am glad to see it wasn't only me that was scratching his head over that comment. I understand that the gene pool needs a little more chlorine, but fluoride? Possibly a Dr Strangelove reference?
  4. The entries have started to come in. There's still plenty of time to get some things listed and sold with fixed price listing to qualify! Remember to message me, either here or thru GameGavel, when you reach the $50 in sales to qualify. Good Luck, everybody!
  5. It wouldn't surprise me if Ebay was silly enough to think that way. Legally this has no validity once the merchandise has been sold to a consumer. It's a restriction on the stores and suppliers in the chain, not the purchaser. Kind of like mattress tags. I've seen eBay do sillier things, though.
  6. Hi Chicky, LT no talk to. Hope things are going better for you.
  7. Hell, just slap a Hozer label on them and you should be good to go. Or put them on GameGavel and get a chance to win $100 toward purchases.
  8. I hadn't checked in on this thread for a while. Good to see the excitement level is still high! I did have to add one entry to my collection spreadsheet, though. My target collection is all games that were commercially sold in the U.S. either in stores, or thru mail order. Up till now, Air Raid had not been on my list. I wasn't totally convinced it was anything other than a pirate cart. Tanman's story backed up by the box with the Tuesday Morning price tag ended that speculation for me. It was obviously available thru at least one store in the U.S. I suspect that's one in my spreadsheet that won't be checked off anytime soon. Still, I'm really glad it was found and that lots of questions have been answered! It's a fun day in Atari Land!
  9. They do have bots that search for certain things to flag auctions, but most of this comes from people reporting auctions. The really sad part is that I have reported flagrant violations, people really trying to rip folks off, and nothing is done. You have a legitimate auction with no violations, some clown reports it and you get suspended. Ridiculous! I know I'm kind of a chearleader for GameGavel, but if everyone that eBay has screwed over would list or buy even just 1 or 2 things there it might just start some cracks in the foundation of the 'eBay is the only game in town' crap. GG is growing and between Mike's hard work and Ebay's own screwups, I'm really excited about the possibilites.
  10. Check out the link in my signature for details. I'm awarding 2 $50 prizes toward purchases from me, and Mike is matching so each of the 2 winners will also get $50 toward purchases from him. That means each of the 2 winners will get $100 in value! Best of Luck to everyone!
  11. Even such a factual statement can be removed if the buyer reports it. The seller can get a scolding from eBay and repeated instances can result in sanctions (listing limits, etc.). Check out the feedback discussion board under 'Community' on Ebay. Sellers are not allowed to leave any negative wording at all about a buyer (even though a non-payer scarcely qualifies as a buyer). Also, even though a negative from a non-payer can be removed, it is not automatic and can take a lot of work on the part of the seller to find someone in T&S who knows what they are doing.
  12. What is it with people calling cartridges tapes? Hehe... must be a Midwest thing Could be. I remember back when I first started going to garage sales it was very common to see a big box with a sign like 'Atari and 18 tapes, $10'. To answer the original question, I find the picture quality to be slightly less on a jr, but it has the advantage of not damaging the cartridge labels. I use a Jr for all my testing of cartridges I buy.
  13. I don't name them individually, but I keep a group of 'cosmetically challenged' consoles in my testing / cleaning area. These serve very well for testing cartridges, controllers, power bricks, etc. That way, I can keep my better machines either on the shelf or in my gaming area. I refer to these testing consoles collectively as my 'Island of Mis-Fit consoles'.
  14. I'm sure quite a few more than 20 copies were made, especially given the professionally printed box (you don't make just 20 copies of a box like that). At least 13 of them have shown up in the hands of collectors and there are probably many more just sitting in boxes somewhere. Who knows how many were simply trashed. Heck, there could be a pallet of them sitting somewhere for all we know. ..Al The warehouse will be found 2 days after I buy one.
  15. I'll be first. I think it's the real deal. Why? I don't really know, except the elaborate set up required if it's a joke. Isn't this how it happened: Air Raid was listed with an Atari set. Seller was contacted to let him know he had a very rare item. Seller lists Air Raid cartridge. Seller then finds Air Raid box after finding out this was an even more rare item and possibly even the only documented one. Seller ends the cartridge auction after notifying bidders and relists boxed game. Oh and at some time, perhaps much earlier, seller fabricates a very convincing box to go with the game. Sounds like a lot of time and money invested on an April Fool's joke. Editted because of slow typing. (OK, so I'm not first. It's only because I'm a slow typist)
  16. Getting stuck with the Final Value Fees for a $5,000,000 auction would suck. ..Al How many eBay bucks would the buyer get?
  17. Hi Tanman, Glad you found AA. Please don't take offense at the skepticism. It's only natural for something of this rarity. I don't think those who are calling 'April Fool' or are looking for details to point to the possible joke mean anything personal. I, for one, will be one of the fools if this turns out to be a joke. I really hope it is not. If real, this is a fantastic find for you and for the collecting community as a whole! It would really be great to finally have those images of the box in the various databases. Dave
  18. I've looked for longer than 9 days to find something I KNOW I have. Granted it's not quite in the same class as an Air Raid box, but I recently looked for 2 weeks for my triwing GBA tool before giving up and buying another. Now I've got 2 (one of which I know where is.)
  19. I thought the same thing, but this was addressed in a previous post. According to that post, the name came from the recollection of someone that Pitfall Harry knew who remembered seeing the box. All that is necessary is for PH's friend to have remembered correctly. I may be fooled, but I'm leaning strongly toward this being legit. (edit for tyyypo)
  20. Keep your eyes open for a Genesis 6-Pak cartridge at garage sales and thrifts. This one cartridge has 6 pretty good games that will keep you and your Genesis happy for quite a while. Sonic the Hedgehog Golden Axe Streets of Rage Revenge of Shinobi Columns Super Hang-On As others have noted, Genesis games are usually pretty easy to find at reasonable prices. Makes it a fun system to collect for and lots of fun to play. I keep one handy for my nieces and nephews to play when they visit. Apart from the solder connection on the power jack, they're practically indestructable. (Fortunately, this one weak point is an easy fix even for an all-thumbs guy like me.)
  21. Contest starts tomorrow! Hope everyone has lots of good stuff to list! More good news! Mike has matched my prize offerings! This means that each of the 2 winners will get $100 in value, $50 toward purchases from me and another $50 toward purchases from the GameGavel store or socalmike!
  22. Gotta go with cartridge for a few reasons. The nostalgia factor. There's just something about a cartridge that brings back great memories. Durability. 99.9% of the cartridges I find at garage sales, flea markets, etc work with only a little cleaning. CD's, disks, cassettes? Not so much. I love the old classics, so almost all of my favorites are available on cartridge. Because that's what I collect. (Or do I collect them because they're my favorite. Hmmmmm. Chicken... Egg...)
  23. Cool! You've always got some good stuff, hex! May have to make a run at one or both of the DS games. If you've got anything that you'd think about listing with a fixed price, you might check out the contest link in my signature.
  24. Looks like this is o.k., as long as the listing has multiple available so eBay still gets their cut on each sale. From eBay's help pages Offering choices By using listings with variations, sellers can offer variations of the same product in a single listing. Allowed Using listings with variations to offer a choice of size, color, and material in items such as clothing and home items Not allowed Selling different brands of an item, such as jeans, in a single listing Offering a choice between two entirely different items, such as a watch or pair of shoes Selling items that aren't in similar condition, such as a new and a refurbished laptop, in the same listing
