  1. This is a question I've always wondered, and I'm not even sure if anybody can answer it. I was wondering how many different original games there are for 2600. So many games were released multiple times with multiple names that even the traditional list of national US releases has many duplicates. For example, there are games like Venture that were released by both Coleco and Atari. All the Sears games but three were re-releases of Atari published games sometimes with a new title and sometimes not. There also situations like Spiderdroid where Froggo changed the Amidar sprites slightly. And there are even examples like Pele's Soccer and Championship soccer which is the same game released by the same company only with a different name. So if each game that got multiple releases was only counted as one how many games would there be? It seems like with all the Sears, Telegames, and INTV carts it would drop the number down to somewhere around 450 or even less than that. I have no idea which foreign games are original titles and not just re-releases and hacks. It would be interesting to get those numbers as well.
  2. So what made you put this auction up so close to April Fools Day? It seems like you could've waited a few more days and cleared up some of the hoax speculation.
  3. Tiger handhelds were always a Christmas staple at my house. It seems like someone was always getting one. I never liked them that much at the time but I appreciate them a lot more now. It's probably the nostalgia factor. I've only got a couple of them now. I remember that I could never keep those battery covers very long. They were always getting lost, and I had to keep the batteries in with tape. What do you expect, I was only like seven.
  4. Well mine was a gift, but it sure seems like it was less than 30 dollars when I got it. I don't know what the reason is for the huge price increase.

    Fast Food Review

I didn't know this game had so many fans. It probably wouldn't be in my top 20, but I don't think it's bad. It's just on my alright list.
  6. I didn't mean to cause a fight around here! I was just saying that I might need to upgrade a couple of my carts at some point. It is something that I have to do from time to time, and I think it is kind of fun. I was really only trying to talk about the bad glue on Apollo carts. I'm not a huge fan of reproductions, but I don't mind if you want to do them yourself. I don't really see the harm as long as you're not trying to sell them or pass them off as completely original.
  7. I guess I just like to have the real deal, not a scanned and printed imposters. Besides, my Wabbit cart is in pretty bad shape to begin with. It's not like it would be very expensive to replace them when I get around to it. Something to do in my leisure time if I ever feel like it. Not very urgent at all.
  8. I got my DQV from gamereproductions.com if I remember correctly. They're much more expensive than they used to be though. V is 45 and VI is 60. Still the quality is pretty good.
  9. Well right now all I'm missing is the end labels for Wabbit and the red Space Cavern. They stick out like sore thumbs in my collection. I really need to get new ones.
  10. Well I've got kind of a strange Combat cart. The front label looks like a G or something very similar, but the end label is the number variety. Perhaps it was just an error at the factory or a label that someone stuck on it later. Either way I love your website for brining some mystery to even the most common games.
  11. I have 209 right now not counting most of my label variations. It's a number I've been stuck on for over a year. It seems to become much more difficult when you hit 200. At least it does if you don't want to spend much money.
  12. What are you doing to cause so much cart shifting in the first place? I know that can be a problem. It seems like you can look at the SNES too hard and the games will reset. Why you you need to shift them in the port when the game is on?
  13. Stellar Track has never made much sense to me. Superman use to always baffle me as well but a it turns out it's actually a pretty good game. I guess it pays to read the manual sometimes.
  14. It seems like Apollo carts have a tendency to lose their labels too. I always thought that that one was due to the cheap glue they used.
  15. It seems like of all the number labeled games Star Ship is the one I see most often missing its end label. Is this a common thing or just something I notice because I'm looking for one with the label intact. It seems like the end labels stay on pretty well. I've rarely had to glue any back on, but over half the Star Ships I see are missing theirs. Anyone else ever notice this?
  16. Yeah it's not too difficult to see why systems fail, especially back in the early to mid 90s when there would be almost a dozen on the market at once. Many of the systems we love today did not look as good when they were actually out. The Lynx seems like a pretty cool system today, but it is also huge. I doubt that many people who play it today take it on the bus with them or anything like that. If you were looking for portability then Game Boy was the obvious choice. The only thing that surprised me about Dreamcast's demise was that it happened so quickly. I figured they would stick around for a couple more years. I still think it's a little overrated by collectors today. It doesn't seem like there were that many good DC exclusives and the controller really turned people off. I don't remember people saying many good things about it when it was actually out. Now that it's long gone people are in love with the thing. So I guess it all depends on how you look at things.
  17. I never know if I should criticize people like this or salute their boldness. That may be the most overcpriced game I've ever seen on ebay.
  18. I think they look great but I'd never have room for them. I'd love to have them for my N64 games though. I still can't find a good way to stack them on my shelf and know what they are without writing on the carts or making them look cheesy. It would be a good solution for a system with a smaller library of games like that one.
  19. It's sad that now I'm seeing people selling their regular old Nintendos thinking that they're going to sell for thousands. I guess some people don't read the whole article.
  20. Odyssey 500 I suppose, although I've never actually been able to play it. I also have a few systems like Turbo Duo which would be obscure to the average person but not very obscure to you guys.
  21. Dragon Warrior 2 gets really tough near the end. There are those monsters that can use that death smell on you and your two other party members are basically useless. I don't know how I didn't get frustrated and quit.
  22. I think most of us have twice that many consoles sitting in our closets right now. It just seems a little arbitrary to me. I mean, the Genesis and TG were both released in August of 89 in America. Why include one but nix the other? The people in this forum play games from all different eras, and I'm not sure why this list was brought over here if you don't want an accurate picture of what people are actually playing.
  23. Wow, that has to be the most conspicuous handheld I've ever seen! Those things are already about the size of a loaf of bread without being yellow. I've never played much GG, but it doesn't seem like a bad system. I just wish that there were more unique games. It seems like most of them are also on Genesis or as European SMS titles.
  24. Well I'm not saying that homebrews aren't important. They're just not part of the official game list. The old unlicensed NES games are a little different because you could buy most of them in stores or at the very least rent them. They were made by companies during the system's life who were trying to make money and be real companies. Also, I know many people who count the unlicensed games separately from the licensed ones as well. You could probably start a separate page for homebrews in wikipedia and you'd be okay.
