  1. Old topic, but I used to love UNO on the 360. Microsoft really tried to bring gamers together back in the day. Online was where it was at in 2006 (Almost 20 years ago!) and this was always a relaxing, nostalgic good time. Apparently, lots of things were broke when they brought it to the One, including online play. I saw an article from March of this year that said there was an update that fixed the online issues, maybe they also fixed the AI problem?
  2. I missed the last few AASS because my life has been chaos for years. Lots of moving around, lots of sickness and death, but the light is there at the end of the tunnel as they say. Can't wait for AASS 2024, I'll be ready.
  3. Wow blast from the past! Kings Dominion in Virginia had a few arcades, and in one of the smaller ones, they had a couple of "kiddie" games. The cabinets were even half sized for smaller players. This was one of the two (Can't recall the other one) I remember this one because played it! It was sometime back in the early 80's. I recall I wound up walking away from the game after playing what I felt was enough time. LOL In other words I probably could have played it for hours it was so simple. Still, it's amazing to this after all those years.
  4. So they finally stated the physical product will start shipping soon. It's only like 7 years late. LOL Still, it's literally the only Kickstarter project (out of 23) that I funded that hasn't produced said product. Once this does finally ship, I'll have 100% success on Kickstarter!
  5. I lived in Pittsburgh for about a year and every week we would hit the local Dave & Busters. They had a few retro inspired games. Including that awesome two-player sit-down version of Space Invaders, a GIANT PacMan and Galaga, as well as a few variations of standalone Pac-Man type games. (6 player, clear a ticket earlning version, etc...) These new Atari games would fit right into the Dave & Busters arcades. I'd play em.
  6. Maybe. There have been/are multimillionaire AA members though. Hard to say. If I could, I would buy one of everything in the Atari Age store first, and invest in other things second. LOL
  7. Old thread I know, but I was going to ask the same thing and found this so I'll just reply. 20th Century Fox games were some of the best on the 2600 in my opinion. From the cool box design to the unique concepts, they offered, I don't know that I could pick a favorite because there are so many great ones. Alien = Pac-Man clone better than the official one we were given. Beany Bopper = Random playfield, unique gameplay. Loved this one right away and loved the full color art on the box. The same goes for Fast Eddie and WW1. Deadly Duck though was just Ok to me even back in the day. M.A.S.H. = Two Player Vs action with multiple play fields and great music, plus you could play against the CPU. Another favorite. Mega Force = Loved the movie and I love a game based on a movie. This was super cool. I find it really difficult these days but likes it as a kid. Porky's = I watched a news segment on our local news channel in Virginia on the creation of this game (Remember when Atari used to make the local news, they were probably trying to spin the tale how video games were ruining lives by turning R rated movies into kid's games) Having seen the movie on HBO I knew I had to have this game. It was AWESOME at the time. I could beat the game easily, and thought it was unique and fun. That shower scene!! Revenge of the Beefsteak Tomato's = Unique gameplay based on B movies. Two things I love. Turmoil = A simplified version of Tempest. Another fav. So fast, and fun, easy to pick up and play. Not sure I could pick one, but I know the one I was most excited about back in the day was Porky's (Yeah I'm a perv)
  8. I love it when games get updates/support even years after the release of the game. I have the limited edition for the PS4 and even though there were a lot of complaints about the game when it came out, I always felt it was pretty great.
  9. Wow that looks amazing! As a kid I would have eaten it up in spite of the minor flaws. Thanks for the taking the time to show this off!
  10. Welcome back!! Oh wait, I've barely been around either. Getting old and dealing with life sucks ass, I want to play more AtarI!!
  11. I don't know why, but the thought just popped into my head. What was the single largest purchase from the Atari Age stores over the years? Do game stores make large purchases like of multiple copies of games, or is it mostly individuals? No names need to be mentioned, but I'm just curious. (I may try and beat it)
  12. Very cool. I dunno why, but I have a soft spot for the 3DO and CD-I. Disk based games WERE the future for sure. They had the right idea, but just didn't implement it right. I bought a CD-I at launch. I had to apply for a credit card (my first) to buy it. I wound up returning it a few weeks later, because I couldn't afford it. I now have a 3DO but my collection is nowhere near as impressive as yours!
  13. Very cool! It's amazing to think Atari 2600 prototypes are still being discovered now, 40+ years later! Too awesome!!
  14. Amazing fine. The game looks GREAT!
  15. I want to pick one up so I'll vote for "it's a good idea"
  16. Yeah and you don't have to do a mystery bundle, at any time they have many bundles, some of them build your own. Usually, the mystery bundles will yield way more than what you spend, but sometimes, too many dupes can ruin that, I will often do them once a quarter, and wind up with dupes all the time. I don't mind trading of giving them away if someone is interested.
  17. I use Fanatical and do the mystery bundles. You don't know what you're getting, and often times I get dupes, I just note them in a text file when I do. I might even have more than the ones I listed, I'll have to check my document folder. Looking through your list now wongojack.
  18. I have some Steam keys as well. I'd be willing to trade for sure. Here's what I have: 10 Second Ninja X Alchemy Island Autonaugts Call of Cthulhu Caveman World Dead Island Riptide Doodle Derby Doom Doom 64 Eternal Edge + Fallback: Uprising Fallout New Vegas Hero of Kingdom 2 Heroes of Hellas 3 I Am Fish Indy Mixtape Intravenous Ironcas Lawn Mower Sim Magequit My Big Sister OUT OF THE BOX Payday 2 Pumped BMX Pro Quake Spirit Hunter Tacoma The Inner World Truberbrook Wolfenstein 3D
  19. I'd say Pac Man, I remember the day we got that game, if you knew what Pac Man should sound like... nuff said. BONK, BONK, BONK, BONK, BONK, BONK, BONK, BONK, BONK, DINK, *pulsing* BUKUE! *pulsing* *pulsing* BUKUE!! Yeah that ain't... Pac Man, that and a dozen other things remind us all, this is not real Pac Man. LOL
  20. Maybe but, I personally think many of the earliest Activision games weren't fun even at the time (at least to me) but for sure others were and did hold up and are some of the funnest games on the systems. Then and now. You mentioned some of the great ones yourself. Kaboom, Keystone Kapers, even Fishing Derby. I loved Fishing Derby. Unique gameplay. It had vs the CPU and even more fun vs a real opponent. Still a lot of those early games just bored me, they had a lot of the same type games, flicker free, but yawn fests. Sky jinks: Fry plane upwards, go between pylons. Skiing: Ski downwards, go between pylons. Barnstorming: Fly to the right go up and down and avoid stuff. Grand Prix: Drive to the right go up and down to avoid stuff. It also didn't help I wasn't a sports fan. So boxing, tennis, and hocky I just thought they were super boring as well. But all that said, if anything I think they are all more impressive now, just knowing the limitations of the system, and how good they look. I would say Activision was the best 3rd party producer of Atari. Ironic because they were also the first to break away from Atari, although maybe not ironic, they were the best programmers of the 2600 at the time, pissed they weren't being acknowledged or compensated properly for their work. Honestly, I think Pitfall 2 might be the game I was most impressed with back in the day. It genuinely amazed me, the HUGE world, swimming, falling down waterfalls!!? And that song, amazing to me, shocking, especially since I found the original so bland. Activision for the win!!
  21. Tell that story every year zzip, we're mostly old men who can't remember why we walked into a room, so feel free to remind us! I agree earliest Activision was pretty bland. I wasn't even a HUGE fan of Pitfall at that time which came a bit later, and don't get me started on Laser Blast. YAWN As an adult I can appreciate the time they took to make sure games were flicker free, but as a kid, there first games they released were mostly snooze fests.
  22. Sadly, he sent me a PM and let me know he was dead. My bumping of this thread was a cruel joke and now that it's 2024 I can state that because of my New Years resolution... I resolve to not be douchy in 2024. As of this post I've kept my resolution for 1 hour and 18 minutes. Oh wait.... Never mind, I've already blown it.
  23. Can't wait for this to come out. I heard it'll be ported to Amico!!
  24. I know this is an old thread, but I was just going through the awesome content on the Atari 50th Anniversary Edition and came across the "Official" Atari Handshake in the High's and Lows section. I vaguely remembered this, I would get the magazine as a kid and loved it. My memories at that time, was that this was an AWESOME handshake, although admittedly, I had no clue about masturbation at that time, I pretty much forgot about it, and have never used it. That said. Has anyone ever actually done this "Official" handshake? Like at a gaming convention? Does Atari still use this handshake, like at their corporate meetings? Now that Alberts on the inside, he probably could answer this.
  25. Same here and I agree with a lot of what you said. One thing that is for certain in my world, Albert has for decades been the face of Atari for me, even as "legit" Atari existed in other places on the internet. It's hilarious that after all these many, many years, he's actually an Atari employee! I'm excited to see where this all goes, but if it goes no-where, nothing will change. Albert IS the man that brought us all together and gave everyone here all the Atari they could ever want. Nothing can take that away. I personally don't see it dying soon even if "legit" Atari does "die"... rabid classic video game freaks will always have a place in this world. That said, this merger is a positive thing. I'm baffled as to why anyone would say otherwise. I think the older people get, the more of a negative outlook they acquire. "Change of any kind is a bad thing." All the negative comments might just be old people saying old people things?
