Also I "found" a file server on my desk which I installed a couple of years ago. Now I'm trying to recall what the root password is. I tried several likely ones without luck.

Edit: Haha, I cracked the password. It was the same as for the unprivileged user.

One strike after another...

1. Don't upgrade the Linux kernel from a ssh session. Bother to do it from console.

2. If the network suddenly stops working, it is more likely that you accidentally pulled the main network cable while fiddling with all other cables, than the system configuration randomly changed.

Pretty much exactly what happened to me a few days ago except mine was a Bluetooth headphone and my laptop just randomly decided it didn’t want to have Bluetooth. So far been unable to solve.
