Today I got a 6% raise so perhaps I'll splurge on an AtariAge subscribership soon.

Today I realized that the scroll wheel on my mouse no longer was working. A reboot didn't solve the problem, so I disassembled the mouse and found a massive pile of thick dust around the wheel. Cool, sometimes fixing computer parts isn't harder than cleaning them. Now both the wheel and the buttons work again.

In times like these, I'm happy that AtariAge is a safe place, free from politics and religion as every other place I visit online tends to flood with those topics right now. ?

While I re-signed up to Twitter this year, I knew from Past experience not to type a thing to follow a certain contest, though as soon as I did, they stopped using it.
Someone they were following though posted an entry on there with some of the entries for the contest, one of those they hated, though the entry ended up doing alright, I played the entry and thought it was quite good. I then looked at another entry which they played which ended up with quite a decent result, though once I had it completed in 30 seconds, there wasn't much reason to go back playing it. I posted a direct message with my videos of it, though didn't get any reply.
I also got into some sort of trouble on VCF because my 8-bit Z80 running at 4Mhz with 160x200 screen is more powerful than their 8088 at 4.77Mhz with 160x100 sceeen, barely coping with one Sprite onscreen! At least, that was the excuse I got from 2 people! Please!

It is interesting how some people on social media seem to prefer false information over accurate information. Perhaps the false information better fits their motives or previous beliefs?

I just think a Social Media platform is the last place to gather Historial facts, though that doesn't mean I'd rely solely on Wikipedia. Wikipedia does source it's facts, though it's important to source material from other places just so all the places been checked weren't all leads from a Wikipedia page.
A quick Google Search and I found a video 'Birth of the Intel 4004', which is a 100 minute presentation and the text alongside talks about the 8008 being introduced in 1972. https://www.i-programmer.info/history/machines/3345-birth-of-the-intel-4004-the-first-microprocessor.html?start=1
A good researcher should use alternative Search tools though, just for the same reason of not obtaining information from one place.
It's possible to pickup misinformation by using multiple tools, though hopefully this is why it's important to find other sources from alternative places.
Another little observation I noticed from your post is when people begin talking about Seasons, ideally it's better to have Month/Year because a Season is never the same relative to your location, I don't know if Wikipedia are doing that, though it just seems to be a bad practice that people get caught up in.

I just watched a whole video about a guy, let's call him Malex Bones who comes up with headlines, hopes his team can let's say, "prove" his "facts", cares not at all whether they do or do not...Then ends his show by asking his team how much money they made selling products while people ate up whatever he was saying...Hopefully people know, I'm talking con men here not politics...

Floor fan serviced for the summer season. When reassembling it, I barely got the front hub cap to screw back in place until I noticed it was marked that it is reverse threaded. ? But now I have a source of cool air, enough to make the polar bears feel welcome.

Today I had my yearly car inspection. One of the problems that needs to be fixed soon is that my mud flaps are too short! ?⚕️

I know some states require "inspections", but I live in one that doesn't...(Yay!)
Although some vehicles over here; I have no idea how they are street legal. There's still requirements, etc,...This one guy drives what must be a truck platform (like a FORD F-150 underneath) but he put a Suzuki Samurai body on top of it (in the middle) and a bunch of metal for a long makeshift hood that extends most of the way to the front. He painted it with a rusty red spray paint or primer, and the whole thing just looks like ass.

I like how Microsoft Office at least pretends it knows what to do with OpenDocument files, spits out an error that the file was corrupted (saved in a different word processor) and at least manages to extract the raw text.

Part of me understands why, and part of me gets annoyed by the fact how companies can have very helping and forgiving support as long as you remain a customer, but once you tell them you're about to leave and need help to finish your business, they became very strict and distancing themselves from assisting you.

It's a very rare thing to say that the best thing that happened today was that a foreign person you met 6 hours ago managed to finally use the bathroom after hours of agonizing pain and lots of medicine. But I'm genuinely happy for him.

10 PM and the headache is building up again. ? I should've gone to the late open pharmacy to get some painkillers, as I just used up the last one yesterday. However it is not nearly as bad as then, when I had both headache and a fever and slept from 5:45 PM to 6:30 AM, only to determine it was due time to take a sick day.

By the way, I'm going to stay one more day just to be safe. If there was a nearby medical station where I could visit thrice a day to get my temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, give blood samples and get my antibiotics, I could be elsewhere and productive the other 90% of my awake hours. But yeah, that is not how healthcare works. Also I understand many other patients need more continuous supervision and treatment than I do so my case may be different in that matter.

So I spotted a loose PlayStation 3 in the garbage room. No cables or peripherals, and it was placed on top of the barrel for leftover cooking oil.
I had a curious look at it but no, I didn't pick it up. Something tells me if one of my neighbours dumps a PS3 in the garbage room, it has serious errors to begin with.

A friend of mine who works as a professional electronics repairman requested some experiment items to practice surface mount soldering. He got a couple broken consoles donated of which I think he managed to repair all so far. PS4 etc. If the donor doesn't want it back, he may keep it or sell for charity. At least a serviced PS4 holds some value compared to a PS3 unless it is the first model.

So today at work, a colleague decided to have fun with another coworker and dumped an older Dell Latitude laptop on his desk.
-"Will you run Linux on that?" the jokester asked.
-"I think I'll play Atari" the other answered, without any previous context to retro gaming.
My interest in such is generally not exposed among my colleagues so I probably have no influence here. Still interesting that anything obsolete in hardware is associated with Atari games, even among those not really into that.

After a weekend with double concerts, I planned on a 10 minute body rest in the bed once I got home. It turned into a 3 hour nap, and unless I had things to do, I would probably still be asleep nearly 11 PM on Sunday evening.

It is a bit ironic when a bank offers a savings account with a whopping 0.55% interest rate on your money, stating it is one of the highest rates for a traditional savings account covered by federal deposit laws.
-
We have gotten this BS in the USA for years now. With our federal "prime" rate almost at 3.25%, the point of a savings account has been lost. With years of this now (really since 2008), I'm afraid that it has likely punished less-complex investors quite hard. All it took was the highest inflation rates in decades to get them to raise it by 0.5%. At least that is what everyone expects to happen later this month, but it will still be about half what it was in '07.

The definition of poor short term memory is if you solved today's Wordle on the PC two hours ago, then redo it on the smartphone and not until you're done you recognize it is the same puzzle you already solved.

Yes, I remember Typing in this game Masterword circa 1990 on my Amstrad CPC 464. It's got all the traits of Wordle (Multiplayer & 5 Letter words with letters even lighting up & points within 9 guesses) and yet the Amstrad community wants a game called Wordle!

My radio station asked the listeners which artist they would want to have a private performance from in their living room. One replied "only someone already dead" because that would be "interesting". ¿Que? ?

@jgkspsx: Interesting - I'd never heard of that before. Appreciate the pointer; will look into it more deeply. Thanks!

@x=usr(1536) Well I don't think normal people will like it...So...Yeah you should be fine haha...

If Mozilla is having any shareholders (not sure if it is a non-profit or a traded company), their stock probably took a nose dive in the last 30 minutes when a lot of Firefox browsers stopped working.

Yesterday I considered if I should buy sugar. Instead I bought olives. No, they're not equivalent.

Half of the world population may be near sighted in 30 years. I didn't see that one coming!

I would never have imagined that one of the last creative things I did in 2021 was to compact the Song of Songs into a poor, five line limerick.

Can we please postpone Christmas by a week?
-
I'm with you. I don't know why it's different this year, but I've been thinking about "after Christmas" and the Springtime rush I have every year at work sine Thanksgiving, but now it's almost here and I don't think i got the most out of it. We did all the usual stuff, maybe not as much, just extra busy at work and even moreso at home.

Here is an important document I found. I didn't save it to my computer, so please mail it back to me.

Whoever bought RETRO Videogame Magazine from Mike Kennedy once upon a time, now has a 30% discount on all Bible related games. Praise the Lord!
