The screen corruption that can show up occasionally when changing levels was not discovered until recently so this isn't something that can be fixed in existing cartridges unfortunately. Since this issue is a code* / timing issue there is no solution but to reset the game. Because of this I will be giving existing Turmoil owners a discount on a future purchase as compensation and they should be getting an email about this soon. Games that glitch out or don't work that are due to the pcb not seating we are replacing free of charge by sending a new cartridge and a return label for the old one if they contact me at sales@8bitmilligames.com.

    * As an FYI the reason for the bug is that the changing the wall color when changing levels is done outside of the NMI loop and as such could possibly get interrupted when the NMI routine does its things causing random data to be sent to the VDP. Most of the time this random data is harmless and only causes a minor glitch but there is always the chance that it causes the game to reset. Our other games, CCR, Anna Lee and one to be released soon use a different method when handling NMI's and as such do not have this issue.

I there a bug free version of the ROM you can send to customers, like you did the Crazy Climber ROM?

I just got the new replacement cart from Milli for Turmoil 2021 and I can confirm I did not see any graphical corruption issues anymore.

I however do get my Phoenix to hard lock after a few levels.  I assume the Phoenix needs a new firmware for us to download to support this game.

I have a few real Colecovisions but have not had a chance to try them as they are now in storage, i am going to try to get one of them out tomorrow to test them on this and see if I am getting a locked frozen screen.

If anyone else got a replacement cart in and has a phoniex please let me know what you are seeing.

    Thank you!

I haven't had time to try mine. Guess I had better get on it. Did you have to pay shipping for the replacement?

Could be nice to see lots of good 5200 controller options floating around and being improved upon.

I’ve heard about the RetroGameBoyz 5200 joystick/arcade stick.

How is it on all sorts of games?

Will a analogue stick version come around? (I love games like Star Wars Arcade and Resque on Fractalus).

Anyone who’ve tried the 5200 Maker Matrix analogue game-pad?

Their site say they’re out of cables.

Would popular demand ‘fix’ this, and get a new batch produced?

Anyone here who have it, or have tried it?

    Is it any good?

I got one of the Maker Matrix controllers and didn’t like it. I don’t use it anymore. It could have been made better and the stick could have been made to work with more games but the people involved will just blow off your concerns like you don’t know  what your talking about. Had the same experience with them when they were developing the ikonsgr 5200 adapter. You may have just gotten that feeling.

Get your Atari gaming fix now at the Songbird website! Includes some recent releases such as the one-time reprints of Jaguar Battlemorph and NUON Iron Soldier 3. Sale prices only valid on new orders placed between Nov 17-24, 2021, while supplies last.

Can you add years to the preorder dates. I see several games that I know have been out a year with Dec preorder dates. It’s confusing to know what is new or old.

Unless you solicit it and then ignore it. What is that the best writers and film directors say? It's about cows, or lack thereof, but maybe too religious to mention.

Hello all.  I had a copy of the first run Bosconian.  It never worked on me original run Phoenix.   It would freeze after a few mins.  It worked fine on the modded OG CV system with F18.  Now I ordered the new version Bosconian...it arrived and it will not work on the OG Modded CV and still has the same issues on the Phoenix.  Anyone have similar issues?  My current Phoenix core on CV is 7 (original run Phoenix).

I also purchased a copy of Turmoil for CV.   Great game....anyone have it...very buggy..or is it my copy?

    Thanks for the feedback.

A while ago it was discussed that a lot of Opcode’s games had issues due to noise on pins 7 and 9 that are used for optical rotary controls like trackball and wheel. A lot of problems were fixed by using a small M/F pass thru with pins 7 and 9 pulled out with needle nose pliers.

Not sure if any of you like to keep you CV boxes in plastic protectors, if you do I use stack up protectors for the Cote game boxes.
    I get them here:

The protector is a little wider than the box, but over all it's a good fit.

^^^ This, tbh. It can't be producing much revenue for him at this point. I'd think it's a controlling device for him now more than anything. Seems like the value of that has to be minimal and the right offer might end this silliness.

Right now it is probably ColecoVision Flashback collection on various consoles and Steam, etc on PC. Those new Tiniest Ever consoles with the little TVs. Not that he was that involved in any of it. The interview he had when the tiniest arcades were introduced was funny because every question asked about the products he's been putting out was always, "Well, I wasn't really that involved in making it."

Earlier in the year, I noticed that the Prime Video app for the 360 suddenly didn't work as well as it had for years. Some functions like subtitles didn't work any longer, and certain titles just wouldn't even appear. Earlier today I received an email from Amazon confirming that the 360 Prime Video app will soon be discontinued. While this isn't a surprise, I am one of what must be a few million people who are still using their 360s for streaming and other media enjoyment.

I also noticed that several major titles have had their servers shut down, or are scheduled to by the end of the year. Max Payne 3, all of the Bungie Halo titles, GTA V, and others. Some titles that are getting up there in the years, like Quake 4 and the original Saints Row, have been plagued by Leaderboard issues and seem to have been left to rot. These server closures have actually impacted my gaming, as I've had to make the effort to get quite a few online Achievements ahead of the shutdowns.

Anyway, this is all just to serve as a heads-up about how the 360 apps and game servers aren't going to be around forever, and that those reading this should enjoy them and finish any online Achievements while it's still possible to do so.

Yeah, it’s weird. Microsoft said not to worry because as long as Xbox One was supported it was little extra effort to support the 360, but sound like that may have been hot air.

Neotokeo releases limited edition carts and does not release roms. The reason he gave was due to bootlegs being sold without permission. It also makes them more attractive to some collectors.

    Hi all,

Do you want to help science by playing Atari games? My research team is looking to collect human gameplay data to help us create better AI behaviour. If any of you have been craving your daily dose of Space Invaders anyway and would be happy to play through our browser-based system, you'd be helping us out a lot. Check it out here:

    http://f1.retro-videogame-study.org/

We even have a multiplayer option too! If you'd like to play with a friend, have the go to the following URL and start a game at the same time as you, and you should be matched:

    http://multiplayer.retro-videogame-study.org/?f=f

Thank you to everyone, and if you run into any issues please do let us know either on the web app itself or on here. Same if your favourite game is missing, we'd be happy to see what we can do. :)

How much does it pay? If $0.00 are you hoping/planning to make money off of it?

Very happy to have finally received Bosconian v2 after a long long wait. I have been meaning to post since the day I received it… Unfortunately it does not work on my modded Adam with F18A and SGM plugged into the side. I get scrambled data on the screen. Every other Opcode release works perfectly.

I dumped the cart and it is fully playable via my Atarimax Ultimate SD. Absolutely loving it!

I’m wondering about quality control for all game developers lately, as quite a few releases have not worked on the Adam. I am more than willing to QA test. :)

There were also issues with Bad Santa and, I think, Cavern Fighter on the ColecoVision. Also, with all the controller option available to the Phoenix, I think those should be looked into more. Like using the four SNES buttons as directionals on Vanguard wouls have been nice, but it usually done before anyone asks anyone's opinion and they've decided not to add features to the ROMs of released games.

The game has been fully tested on  Standard Colecovision  Secam ,  PAL , NTSC and HBVision.  It runs fine.

Unfortunately , we don't have Phoenix to test.  We are trying to find one to able also to test our future game. (just to validate it works on it)

But it is very strange it does not work on Phoenix... Donuts man do nothing "special" nor use tricks or what ever.

It seems the Phoenix need an update.  I have no clue why it does not work on Phoenix.

My target is just standard Colecovision.   The Phoenix claims to be 100% compatible, so i assume it should work.

Donuts Man uses the same game engine than Muncher Mouse , do you have issue with Muncher Mouse on the Phoenix?

Did you raise the issue at Collectorvision?

How does one go about buying an HBVision or did this stop at the prototype phase? HBVision is the one made by fabf, right? Or is that someone else?

It was 100% compatible with the retail games of yore (except the roller controller issue, which was solved). It has had various issues with a number of homebrews, although I think most of them have been solved with firmware or blocking the 7 and 9 quadrature pins.

Just tested this myself and sorry to say that the same happened to me at the end of level 2.

Also tested on my F18A modded CV and it works fine there, so the issue appears to be a Phoenix exclusive.

So, I tried something for the heck of it and cleaned the pins on the game and the Phoenix and I was able to get to level 6 before I ran out of lives. Trying to play it a few times in a row to see if I see the issue again. It was the first time I was able to play a complete game on the Phoenix.

EDIT: I take that back, it just did it again but on Level 4 during my 3rd game after cleaning...  so it looks like there is some compatibility issue with the Phoenix.

What kind of controller are you using? Standard controller without extension  cord?

My box arrived today and it was even worse than that one.  In fact, the PO even put a "We're care" sticker on it!  The box was also wet.  Thankfully, there was no real damage to the contents.  The game box had a minor inward bend but nothing that looks damaged.

Why can't I get a brand new Xbox at the store? What is the problem with supply on these things? This is a debacle, the X has been released for a year, yet nobody can buy one for less than $900 from a scalper!

It's also looks like its happening with XBox One X. This is the cheapest price for an new XBox One X I would put any trust in the seller (except the likely exploitation), over $600 USD after shipping and tax. Some are posted or sold for a little less, but I'm iffy on folks with 0-20 sales throwing up just a stock image. Normally, they'd be trying to off-load these.

The Analogue Pocket got me super jazzed.   It's the first new retro hardware that's had me interested in a while, and the first Analogue product... really ever.  I haven't pre-ordered one, but do plan to do so the first time it's reasonable.  And by "reasonable" I mean I can just sit down and order one without refreshing my screen for an hour.  The delay... is disappointing.  I feel like this was probably something that should have been made public earlier.  I'm inclined to think it was clear the initial date would not have been met some time before the delay was announced.  That said, there's a lot that separates the situation from something like the Amico.  First, Analogue has a consistent track record delivering very similar products.  Second, the Pocket doesn't rely on an extensive ecosystem outside of the product itself-- Analogue doesn't have to make an online service or even games for it.  All Analogue has to do is make sure the core product is sound and release it.  I might not be happy about the timetable, but still very eager for this device.

All I’ll say on this is the “ but Anaologue is more consistent and reliable “ is a common rationalization for those against the Amico so looks like you are part of that herd mental download subscription and it is logically flawed since if they are more consistent and reliable and have a simpler product they should have had it out the door sooner and have better foresight. I’m not blaming them, I’m just saying that rationalization doesn’t hold water.

I did find the updater from the electronica4u site, but it doesn't work also. Under Windows 10, the updater app recognizes the adapter, but it got stuck when I press the update button.

And the manual is more leaned towards Amiga computers.

Anyway, good that it worked for you, Swami!

They worked but I had two of them die. I still have a TOM+ that works. I had one where I did an update and lost functionality with one of the controllers and then it did not work with the updater anymore. The Rys Mk II may or may not be better.

BTW, the Amiga and Atari computers have the same controller port and should be interchangeable with the same controllers. I think the C64 ones are basically the same as far as gamepad, but can be a problem to use Atari/Amiga adapters on a C64.

there is a very good one on eBay if you look up “Amiga CD32 Atari PlayStation Adapter PSX” from the UK (set to “Worldwide”). Unfortunately it only works with PlayStation 1/2 controllers and is a little pricey with current international shipping. Sold by *amiga*collector*.

    There's this old thread here:

Encouraged by that thread, I've bought the TOM Rev2 adapter, but unfortunately it doesn't work properly on my 600XL. The adapter blinks, the d-pad works, but the trigger button only register the first two presses, then it refuses to work. I've tried several USB gamepads, without any luck.

I've ended up buying the Hyperkin Ranger from Amazon, which works very well.

We found the TOM2 to be not the most dependable device, but wondering, we’re you able to find the updater app and the instructions for it or did you just have to wing it out of the box?
