  1. I'd look around - there's been several projects (3D printing) to replace parts and whole cases in the ST line... Just one example: https://www.yeggi.com/q/atari+st+case/ HTH's.
  2. Believe it or not, if you read through that message thread, you can pretty much pick up on all the items that are needed. I did finally get my screen and controller board in. I had a friend print out the 3D brackets for me. I wish someone or some company was doing it professionally - I might be tempted to get them to do it as well. Honestly, that screen looks great for it's age. Mine was getting to be really dark when I replaced it with an a new El sheet.
  3. Not yet. I've currently got my STacy apart where I've been experimenting with the PiSTorm stuff, so it's on my list. There's actually several things I'm wanting to attempt now that I've got it apart - just gotta find the time and get motivated. BTW, if you've not seen it, you should definitely take a look at Derkom's "Summer STacy Project" thread over at Exxos's Atari Forums. It's another really long thread but man, lots of good info there and he wound up with an amazing machine. Check it out: https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=3009
  4. Er, just making sure I'm not reading that wrong... Do you mean as in RAM? If so, one doesn't have anything to do with the other, as far as I know. If you mean does the Mega STe's battery save things like machine settings/states, then I don't think so either. The Mega STe has dip switches inside to set things like whether 720k floppy formatting options or 1.44meg HD shows up. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me can answer this better...
  5. I guess I've been pretty lucky with my ST's. Aside from the two "AA" batteries in the Mega ST's I've owned, I only had to change the battery on my Mega STe once. I did socket and change the one in my Falcon, but I did that *before* it actually died, because of all the comments I'd heard about it...
  6. Best picture I've got from "back then", unfortunately...
  7. She was pretty...and nice...and pretty nice.
  8. Hmm, you're talking about the desk? Yeah, it was pretty shiny (varnished/finish). The 1040STe had one of those brown dust covers on it, like the external floppy drive.
  9. You can buy the right color (or at least very, very close). I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Those STL files are free to use so yeah, everyone can do this just for the cost of printing it out. No greedy "middle-men" or mega corporations need be involved...!
  10. 1) You do know that the Mega STe has an RTC (real time clock) and that you don't *have* to use the US's clock or software, right? I always put the following in my AUTO folder Little Green File selector (replacement file selector) Maccel ( mouse acceleration and simple screen saver) (you might want to go with NVDI instead) PINHEAD (makes everything load faster) And a whole lot more. It just depends on how involved you want to get. You also want to have at least XCONTROL.ACC and the various CPX's (control panel extensions) that are very useful. From there, you can check your speed, blitter, cache on/off etc,... 2) Now that you've got working, reliable mass storage space, go to P.Pera's website: https://atari.8bitchip.info/fromhd3.php?s=n#DL and download over 1600+ games that have been fixed for newer versions of TOS, increased RAM and able to run on hard drives. Many also have trainers and scanned in intro pictures of the games box cover. Good stuff. There's a whole lot more you can do with your Mega STe - replacement desktops, accelerators, etc. There's a whole universe out there just waiting for you! Have fun.
  11. Indeed...! (which is a good thing, in Atari Land, IMHO).
  12. Agreed. I really liked the endings to Ultima III, IV and V (on the ST).
  13. There was a separate ribbon cable kit that Wizztonics sold to bring the Falcon's cartridge port to the connector on the back of the Falcon Rack's case. I had one. The first picture here shows just what yours does from the rear (sorry for the low quality - this was in 2004). The 2nd picture shows the ribbon with the plug inserted into the Falcon motherboard's cartridge port and running to the rear plane of the Falcon Rack. Worked great. HTH's.
  14. Really looking forward to the special guest...!
  15. As far as that goes, I have not a clue. Be interesting to find out though.
  16. No problem - always glad to lend a hand (if I can). Yay, Linux for the win! I use Kubuntu Linux on my laptop. Hmm, when you say "mod" do you mean mod as in moderator or music MODules? Or something else? I love playing MOD's on my ST. I have my Mega STe hooked up with a 3 speaker/floor sub-woofer system and I jam the living crap out of those bad boys. Drives my wife nuts. Oh well... Welcome to the community and while not a fan of emulation (everyone knows this about me already), I look forward to your efforts/contributions. Good luck!
  17. Really? I think I've got 29 listed in the Games Menu...
  18. I had a Desktopper case on my Falcon 030 at one point in time. I loved it.
  19. Well, anytime the default choice of green as the ST's desktop color comes up, I've always heard the explanation that (at least a part of it) was due to the fact that the human eye can see more shades of green (and is more visible) than any other color in the spectrum. Now...did Atari really have that in mind when they picked green? Well, your guess is as good as mine.
  20. <answered via PM already but I'll repeat it here> Hi! I'm not sure about RatSoft - I think it does require registration to get the full benefits but again, not sure. Contact "Tillek". He runs the Star Fleet Headquarters ST BBS and it runs on RatSoft. It is very likely the only operational RatSoft based ST BBS still around. I'm not sure what you mean about doing telnet in emulation unless you mean running everything on a PC (Hatari, STeam, etc) and then setting up telnet that way. I don't do emulation. Just not my cup of tea. So if you go that route you'll have to get others to help there because I'm clueless in that aspect. I'm 100% real Atari BBS software running on 100% real Atari ST hardware, all day long. I acquired the BBS games for DarkForce! over the years, from various CD collections, ftp sites, and the BBS Express! ST support board, which is closed down now. Give me a bit and I'll see if I can zip up some games and send them your way. Be advised you will go through a learning curve to get some of these games going. Some are fall over, dead easy and others will make you pull your hair out. To be perfectly honest, there are also a few that I've never gotten to run. Anyway, I'll try to get them to you later this evening, okay?
  21. I ran into the same issue. I had requested permission to post the game on the DarkForce! BBS and was given the same response. It's perfectly understandable and of course I honored the request.
  22. I dunno. I've got a Lightning ST in my Mega ST. I've got internal Ultrasatan's in both my Mega STe and STacy. I can take -1- SD card, grab files from either machine, transfer them to a Windows 10 box or Kubuntu Linux laptop with ease. I've also got a NetUSBee on my Mega STe that with UIP tool allows fast and easy file transfer from either the Win10 box or the Kubuntu Linux laptop across my network. It can also be done across WiFi. All with a browser... Can't get much easier and more fun than that...
