  1. Life’s 2 big “impossibles”, so it seems -  following the arrows in a parking lot, and simply ignoring a troll online.   People just can’t seem to do either of these.

  2. First game finished for 2020 -- The Witcher on PC.  Also, if I ever need to apply for a job as "errand boy," you'd better believe I'm gonna use that as my main qualification.

  3. I wish I could start taking Pac-Man to the movies with me.

  4. Within the next few weeks, I plan to hire an artist/designer to create a box for a NES game.  Anyone on here do this type of work and may be interested?

  5. Opinions wanted!  Feedback welcome!  Which color palette to use!   Head on over to the thread for details --

White or Gray??  Thoughts and opinions welcome and appreciated!

Grey. If the game is beatable, maybe white the second go round?

  6. Any help for this kid's Minecraft woes would be greatly appreciated!

  7. A user on this site has a profile pic of a coffee cup with animated smoke/steam rising from it.  Any idea who?  I've seen it several times, and would like to use it as a reference for game art, but can't find it now.

  8. Good job, Amazon!  The $150.00 book set was damaged, but at least you save a few cents worth of bubble wrap!

I DEMAND the HIGHEST quality of goods I get from amazon. One tiny itsy-bitsy scratch and back it goes. 5 times if necessary. Fuck the environment and gas wasted in transport and time spent with restocking or product destruction. Their problem.

They're usually great. But last week they packed my new swim goggles under 20lbs of cat litter, with predictable results. They made it right but was a needless  hassle for all involved.

  9. Commissioning an artist to animate an 8-bit sprite, 16 x 16 pixels, between 10 – 20 frames.  What’s a good price to offer?  Don’t want to lowball anyone, but have no idea what the going rate is for something like that.  Google searching placed it somewhere between 10 bucks and my firstborn.  Thanks in advance!

    1. RockyRaccoon

      RockyRaccoon

It's gonna depend on how detailed you want the sprite to be, and how complicated the animation is, really.  What exactly are you wanting done?

    2. Razzie.P

      Razzie.P

Nothing really complicated. Basically a little square guy walking in 4 directions, 2 - 4 frames of animation in each direction.  16 x 16 pixels, 3 colors.  Animation like the main character in "Minit" is the best example that comes to mind.  We have the character design already, just not sure what $$ to offer the artist.  He put it in my court, and I don't wanna lowball anyone, as I mentioned.

    3. DragonGrafx-16

      DragonGrafx-16

Top down right? 16x16 is pretty small and should not take much time to do. $10-20 ($1 per frame?) would seem about right to me for just a single sprite. Obviously if you were having them design the sprite it would be more. I know it would only take me about an hour to do, less if you already had a base sprite. But I'm used to using like 16 colors max (and 64x64 for most things) on sprites, 3 would be harder.

  10. My status updates are working again!  Woo!!!

  11. Any suggestions for a nice sprite/tile creation tool for a kid to use who's wanting to create 8/16 bit era graphics?

    1. Flojomojo

      Flojomojo

RPGmaker would be neat to try. I think it's expensive but Humble Bundle has had it for next to nothing more than once.

    2. DragonGrafx-16

      DragonGrafx-16

I use Pyxel Edit to make tiles and Piskel for most sprites (mostly because it has a great mirror tool which Pyxel edit lacks).

I use GraphicsGale which went freeware a couple of years ago.

  12. It took 11 months and 12 days, but I finally finished the entire Ys series! Started Book 1 last June, and finished part 8 tonight!

  13. Dracula never stood a chance against my whip, Holy Water, and save states!

  14. Blinking Light Win -- Anyone know the difference between BLW and AR-BLW?

Nope but I have a BLW and I love it... games work every time!

  15. Since "gaming disorder" is now officially a thang, per WHO, that mean I can get some medical leave from work when the next Fire Emblem releases?

Not a huge fan of games with time limits myself, but a flight game with such limits sounds particularly annoying. ;-)

Would that be one kick distributed to each testicle, or two kicks to any part of the scrotal anatomy to be determined by the kicker?

  17. Just finished Ys SEVEN. Great game, but that final boss was every ounce the bullcrap that I've always heard it would be.

  18. I seem to be the only person on the planet who really enjoyed the series finale of GOT.

  19. After playing a few hours, Fire Emblem Heroes really just seems like oodles of content (great) but not once ounce of actual gameplay. Big Fire Emblem fan here, but I don't know what they're going for with this thing, other than a quick cash grab.

  20. New GOT had it's moments and was good overall, but the camera work jumped around enough to make a "bourne" movie jealous.

I have that same coupon. The offerings are a bunch of crap, mostly on Wii U, and not very generous with discounts.

I would get Star Fox Zero if I didn't already have it.

Yep. That's a bummer. I was thinking it's gonna be a "pick what you want and take 30% off." Boo!

How's Ys 1&2 on PC vs TurboCD?

    3. Razzie.P

      Razzie.P

No way. Gotta play Ys 6 next on PC. Playing 7 first might upset the balance of space/time and all that jazz.

    4. Razzie.P

      Razzie.P

@deepthaw - Chronicles on PC is a great remake. It keeps everything about the originals intact, for better or worse, but updates sound/graphics/dialog and a few quality of life type of tweaks. If you didn't already like the games, I don't figure it'll change any opinions, but I had a blast replaying with a few updates, then tearing through the boss rush modes.

  23. Ebay description -- Very Good. No scuffs or damage to disc, case, or booklet. Item received = beat to death, case insert and manual seems like they've been soaked in water.

    1. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

I'd probably ask for a refund (Item not as described) or keep it with a partial refund if the seller's down...Sometimes sellers use a description so much they forget to change it for the item at hand...(Or he's a jerk,... don't know haha)

I used to apply that criticism to games I somewhat enjoyed, but then couldn't reach a save point. I'd quit PS2 games because I didn't have an hour and a half at my disposal to play...If it Auto Saved or had frequent save points it would have been fine ...
