I am 42 years old and first played Sonic 2 on the Genesis more than 25 years ago. Tonight for the first time ever in my life, computer-controlled Tails contributed in a meaningful way, first accidentally killing an enemy as I was about to be hit with no rings, and second hitting the Hill Top Zone Robotnik boss for FOUR of the eight required hits. I have never seen this before. Ever.

@Razzie.P Dammit, I knew it! I knew it! Everyone watch out for the robot uprising!

Street Fighter the Movie was so bad, but Street Fighter the Movie the Game is almost kinda fun.

I love Animal Crossing New Horizons, but the premise is incredibly shady. Tom Nook is a totalitarian dictator. "Come live on an island with me! Also I control all commerce, run the banks, and define the currency. You have to spend your own money to develop the island, you can never leave, and I reap the profits."

For folks on the fence about MiSTer, I wrote up an overview, buying guide, and some gameplay samples of many current cores in action: https://hothardware.com/reviews/mister-diy-console-fpga

I love selling stuff on eBay to people with buyer's remorse, who then just make up issues in order to get a refund.

Same for me. Sold a 5200 multicart that was working perfectly the day I listed it for auction. Buyer then claimed that the multicart wouldn't boot. I asked him to validate the files on the SD card. He said "I don't have a computer." I asked how he planned on adding ROMs to the SD card if he didn't have a computer. He sent it back and I validated that all the files required were on the SD card. Wound up putting it up for auction again.

I had the opposite recently. 2 different purchases, both arrived with issues because of crappy packaging. Offered to work with the seller to refund a small percentage, but they refused, so I used the return option. In both cases, they tried to argue to ebay that it was "buyer's remorse." I had to provide photos and a video (for a console) as proof.
Oddly, though, when they relisted the items, both were very clear in pointing out the defects up front, and both "buy now" prices were less than what they would have gotten had they simply worked with me to refund a percentage.

Anybody in or around Bangor, ME? Gonna be there early Feb and looking for a retro shop or two to peruse while I'm there.

Must've missed this XKCD when it came out, but it's pretty great (and relevant to our interests): https://xkcd.com/2189/

Saturn ODEs can become readily available any time now. The Sanyo laser in my Saturn is dead, and I've bought two replacements that were supposedly compatible but I can't make either one work.

NeoGeo MiSTer core goes official and 128 MB SDRAM boards go up for preorder on the same day? Guess I need to look at MiSTer.

I'm free! Free! I've scheduled my Facebook account for permanent deletion, since they wait 30 days before actually deleting it.

Still on the fence about the Mega Sg? I wrote around 8,000 words for The Tech Report, published this morning. https://techreport.com/review/34540/analogue-mega-sg-reviewed-cloning-a-sega-genesis-with-fpga-power

It's no worries, glad to be of help! I've watched and read a lot of reviews of the Mega Sg already and yours was the straw that broke the camel's back so to speak on convincing me I gotta get one. It'll be a couple months before I can budget for it, but in the meantime I did preemptively order two Retro-Bit 6-button Genesis controllers for it tonight.

NOT AN APRIL FOOL'S JOKE I SWEAR: Smokemonster has released the Mega Sg jailbreak. https://github.com/SmokeMonsterPacks/Mega-Sg-Jailbreak

Saw a CIB Cool Spot for Genesis today for $7 and I'm kicking myself for not buying it. Also, unpopular opinion: I'd rather play on a VA7 model 1 than a VA2 model 1 due to the 2's totally unlistenable distortion on several games (including SoR2)

I was thinking about how I'd like to have less hardware from work in my home office and the Latitude E5570 that is my primary workstation crapped the bed. Maybe I need to think about rolling around in a big pile of money...

Now is definitely a great time to get into the PS3. My local Disc Replay is doing buy five get five free. I got like 40 games yesterday for $100, including a bunch of classics.

They have just walls of Xbox 360 and PS3 games, and so much of what I got was marked at $5 or less. I think I paid $7.99 for two of them, and even some of the ones I paid for were only $0.99. I'm replacing some games I own digitally with physical copies to guard against the PSN store one day going down. Infamous, Uncharted, Disgaea, BioShock...I got a bunch of whole series in that.

Played about 90 minutes on Beyond Oasis last night. Got the first two spirits, did some other stuff, and quit. Turned it on today, dead battery. /sadTrombone

The real fun is starting - I got callbacks on three of my interviews to do a technical assessment. Fortunately all 3 want me to use ASP.NET MVC5 so I only have to bone up on one technology.

Broke my glasses just by pushing them up on my face. Fortunately I found my exact frames online with overnight delivery. Too bad I ordered too late for tomorrow.

Discovered the hard way that the RetroTink 2x's component inputs are spaced too tightly to connect HDRetrovision YPbPr cables without stressing the input jacks. Ugh.

BTW this affects the red/white audio ports, too. So if you do get adapters get 5. 3x of these. https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Gold-Plated-Copper-Female-Stereo/dp/B07CMW6Q1B

Today is my third job interview in 3 days. Two more scheduled next week. Wish me luck, or don't. I don't mind.

@jd_1138 that's super advice, and it's worked for my in the past.
@Jinks The nice thing is that I already have a full-time job that I like well enough, so I'm definitely interviewing them as much as they interview me. If something smells off, I'm out. So far so good, and I'm limiting my search to companies where I know somebody or they have a rep for being a good employer. If I was out of work I'd have to be much less picky.
