  1. On a related subject, how feasible would an 8 bit or 16 bit console be today designed with the latest technology? We don't have the limitations of the 70s and 80s so there could be less slowdown/ flickering, and could be designed in a way to make programming far easier for people who want to program but lack the skills. I get more excited about new games for older consoles (and spend more money) than I do on mobile phone devices or the latest consoles. Would that have been a better option than a system that does what everyone else is already doing?
  2. Non-Homebrews Top 5 Midnight Mutants Ninja Golf Food Fight Fatal Run Desert Falcon Homebrew Top 5 Pac-Man Collection Rikki & Vikki Bentley Crystal Quest Super Circus Atari Beef Drop Of course, I'd love one with a full collection of 7800 games but I know how challenging that can be. I also recognize that AtGames hasn't exactly been the greatest at emulation over the years, and the 7800 doesn't have a great emulator community IMO. Still, the 7800 was the system I grew up with so I want it to get some love.
  3. Okay, I've beaten this game a few times before so I have developed a strategy of my own that may be easier than the reverse kick trick. "Square Dancing": First of all, I've noticed that the characters move along a square. Lets say you are in the middle of the lower line of the square. From time to time, enemies move back, then up, walk around to the other side of you, walk back down, then forward to attack in a square (or rectangle, if you prefer). At the top of this square pattern, as the enemy is walking, you can move up and often get in a free attack before the enemy an react. I usually use regular kicks because they are quicker. To trigger the "square dance" I move up and down until the enemy gives up trying to fight. You'll know the pattern started because when you move up and down, the enemy stays on your plane until be begins walking backward. The enemy also moves slower while in this pattern. The more you see it the more you will recognize it. I'm sure you can get in the free reverse kick in time before the CPU knows what you're doing, I just never mastered that move. I also discovered online some time ago that if you can get an enemy to drop a weapon like the knife, your kicks will pack as much punch as the weapon you are carrying. It certainly helps in stage 3! These tips should help out a lot, I hope.
  4. It is a shame this has not gotten more coverage. This game is a marvel of engineering, and I was hoping this would inspire more games with the technology. I beat this game on Singles mode already but I go back to play it again. But I don't have a page with thousands of followers, and I lost most of my 7800 collection. This officially makes this an underrated game for an underrated system.
  5. Hopefully there would be Homebrew support, I'd love to have Dungeon Stalker on the go
  6. When I turn my system on, the menu continuously changes pages as if I'm scrolling down. It does it even without a controller plugged in. Any idea what the problem is?
  7. I got tired after my last session and just let the time ran out when I got that score of 160k or so, I was just curious. Once I got into a pattern where I could make the spy move and stop on the fly, I was able to go indefinitely.
  8. Does the score flip after 999,999? I played this game for over an hour the other day and my final score wasn't even 200k, when I made 60K on a far shorter game
  9. I ordered mine as well. With the size of this being a possibility on 7800 software possible, perhaps my dream of a 7800 RPG can come true.
  10. If someone insists on throwing away their manual after receiving their game, I'd be willing to pay you for it after I get my copy of this game, I like having an extra manual around for my collection in the event I ever have to sell off my 7800 carts and rely on emulators.
  11. Wow I never knew about this project until all the hoopla over Rikki and Vikki started and this was mentioned in a suggested article. I certainly hope to see this game on a physical cart.
  12. So when exactly will the 7800 carts be available? I am hoping this DOESN'T turn into a Limited Run Games kind of sale
  13. I was just watching Gremlins 2 today, haven't seen that movie in decades. It came out 1990, the same year Midnight Mutants. It got me thinking if the game and the movie had any tie ins at all or if one had any influences in the game. I'm probably stretching here but it is just a few interesting coincidences. In Gremlins 2, there's a "Grandpa Fred" who is doing a cable access Elvira type TV show, and he uses the Gremlins in a sense to spice up the show. Also, the name Midnight Mutants could even be a play on the Gremlins, as the Gremlins could be described as mutants, and in the second movie, the gremlins themselves drink a variety of potions that mutated them in a variety of ways. One of the main bosses in the game appears as Dracula, while Christopher Lee, who actually played Dracula in the Hammer films, played a mad scientist in the film. It could be just one big coincidence but it'd be cooler if it wasn't.
  14. Ikari Warriors is close to arcade perfect in terms of game play... not as much soundwise but it is way, WAY better than the NES version (even most NES fanboys won't dare dispute that one). Seems it is underrated IMO. I imagine Food Fight is high on any 7800 connoisseur's list so i'm not sure that's a hidden gem, but that one is a must have. I also feel Ballblazer is underrated, it is a simple but fun game especially with 2 players. Of course, it is probably less thought of as a fun game and more as a sacrificial lamb for POKEY chips these days. I also think Tower Toppler is a good game and it doesn't seem to get much attention, so maybe that one counts. Oh, and despite how NES lovers feel, Xevious is just better on the 7800.
  15. Not sure if this qualifies but I'm selling some items on eBay and a buyer "wrinklywinky" started sending me lowball offers and got a bit nasty after I politely declined his offer. I already strive to sell my stuff on the lowend of eBay sales, usually adjusting prices a buck or two lower than everyone else but I don't add "Best Offers" but this person was particularly nasty so just be wary of this guy.
  16. I would like to go. As far as size how does it compare to the PGRE?
  17. Thanks for responding. I was curious. I am on the highscore.com website and I love posting 7800 scores. I noticed there was a "Demo Version" listed on the category and wondered if the old Beef Drop was the "demo"
  18. Is there any difference between the VE version of Beef Drop and the non-VE version made a few years back besides the Pokey chip? I noticed the AA Store is selling a Pokey version of Beef Drop VE but I saw one of the old non-VE versions of Beef Drop on eBay recently.
  19. Should join Highscore.com, just be sure to post your screen name and show the settings.
  20. I just ordered some, it will be great having ones that are the proper size for a change
