  1. This blog is great! To read all the way through, here is the first post: http://www.filfre.net/2011/03/introducing-a-new-blog/
  2. I was thinking about getting these, but... Items (2) FREE Estimated shipping & handling $79.98 Total before tax $7.20 Estimated tax to be collected $87.18 Estimated order total Not sure I can justify almost 90 bucks on controllers... yikes!
  3. I actually enjoyed watching some football with the stats in my lap on the Gamepad. Also had my Fantasy team open in the browser (which isn't bad). Still, this is a long way from what it could (and should) be.
  4. I have one somewhere... is it worth digging for? I'll check the main suspect boxes.
  5. Anyone have a web browser working with flash? Has been my activity today and not having a lot of luck, though it appears possible.
  6. Just out of curiosity, which game made the most sacrifices? I am guessing Congo Bongo. Hmm, looks like Tac-Scan is the least rare on the list, though. Looking forward to this one--wish I could go to Portland!
  7. I used to post non-game finds all the time and I like it when people share their other stories/stuff as well. Does anyone who is a serious thrift shopper look only for video games?! For instance, finding an UNPUNCHED Helen of Toy game set... yeesh that is a good one! I am always on the lookout for old board games. Also audio equipment. I am rocking out with thrift store speakers in my office right now.
  8. I have a ton of 5200 stuff, as it is how I got into collecting Atari. I have every released game (cart only, homemade boxes), boxes of controllers, many, many homebrews, a couple of flash carts, and 3 consoles (including one very nice boxed). It's easier to say what I do not have and desire: the carrying case (still kicking myself for missing one of these on eBay about 5-6 years ago), and a StarCon Arcade Joystick Controller.
  9. Grr, tried to embed this to no avail. Anyway, this is an age-old problem... http://www.nickatnite.com/videos/clip/that-70s-show-erics-birthday-cassette-player-clip.html
  10. No luck with Droid 800, but a post from the Ouya forum was very helpful in getting Colleen from this URL: http://www.appszoom.com/android_game..._download.html Works great as far as I can tell.
  11. Wow, this is a really happy story--totally made me smile. Congrats, Rick. She's a beauty!
  12. Now this is an endorsement of QUALITY. Where do I sign up for the CPU Homebrew Alert system? Payment sent, thanks Wickey!
  13. I kinda want to ask if they will make a custom set with an Atari 5200 ottoman and a Vectrex side table as well. With an Intellivision couch.
  14. I still play Mario Kart online with friends (you have to limit who you play with because if all the cheaters) and would hope that they leave everything in place until the new one comes out at least.
  15. New system update looking good and I am excited for some of the new games. Also the first time I have had working XBMC in some time (telling that my original Xbox was the last system to have it!) and am really enjoying the offerings on that as well. For $99, not a lot to complain about from here. The only issue I have is that my wife has decided to play Wii Harvest Moon: Animal Parade with renewed vigor and the TV is sometimes occupied with that. So I have to play Pikmin Adventure on the Wii U tablet instead. Life is hard. Luckily, the Ouya is also very portable--picking up the little box and moving it to the bedroom TV is simple enough. Thinking about getting an extra power supply.
  16. Not sure Marketplace is right for this, but not sure where else would be better. This, from BuzzFeed, shows that "investing" in things like cards, stuffed animals, and yes, video games, may not be such a good idea. http://www.buzzfeed....medium=buzzfeed Would love to see something similar done for Atari games.
  17. The only Ouya thread I could find was the unboxing one, which seems to mainly be pre-release info and some grumbling about yearly upgrades. I got my Ouya a few weeks ago and am actually liking it a lot so wanted to start a new point of discussion. I am intrigued by the possibilities. I know the opinion from some is that these are just oversized cell phone games, but I have an Android phone and I hate it for gaming. I am currently carrying a DS XL for Mario Kart action. The only game I play on the phone is that silly Dragonplay Poker which is stupid, but poker is a weakness and I want to get to 10 million fake chips. www.reddit.com/r/ouya is where I've been going for most of my Ouya info, but I am looking for some classic gamer perspective here. So far I have found the emulation to be great--the only thing missing right now that I would love is better 8-bit support. I've been using my Wii as an emulation machine, but the Ouya has so far been much easier and has easily passed the "wife test"--she can get on it and play some retro games without too much hassle. The default controller is also much better (on the Wii I am always having to dig out a classic controller). I've got XBMC installed, which is pretty great. Very good instructions. We've enjoyed playing many rounds of "You Don't Know Jack." The controllers are OK. Not great, but not horrible. It runs quietly. It does not take up a lot of space. When I have time for games, it's definitely in the mix. If they ever get friends lists and all of that sorted out (so far this is the most serious weakness in my view), my Ouya username is the same as here. Really interested in hearing the impressions of others!
  18. After spending a weekend gaming, I am also now excited for Pikmin 3 because the Nintendoland mini-game has been a total time suck and I love it. Anyone who wants to be my friend, please add me--name same as here!
  19. You INTV guys are always the weirdest ones! And I mean that in a good way. I am going to date myself a bit here (NO NOT LIKE THAT), but I was in college right when the internet starting to become a thing. I played on all kinds of MOOs and MUDs and MUSHes and Gophered and FTPed the hell out of stuff. I was a total nerd. But I always though to myself "at least I'm not as bad as those dorks fighting in the dorm hallway with their foam swords." Also: NOT A FURRY. Ahem.
  20. Yes indeed, it's pretty great! I've neglected it a bit since getting my Ouya--some of these emulators are very good as well and it's quicker to get up and running with a game, compared to the Wii. Kinda testing them out against one another for the time being.
  21. Emulation is great! Also having Wii games on a USB drive is awesome (my drive doesn't even work that well anymore). Those YouTube videos are a good guide, and there's some nice online writeups as well. I am not great at this kind of thing and did it in no time using the Lego Indiana Jones hack. Bought the disk cheap (pretty fun game, too!) and just followed the step-by-step. That was over two years ago and even then I wished that I had done it sooner! Here's that old thread: http://atariage.com/...-wii-emulators/
  22. I've always taken the screws out, pulled the electronic stuff, put the plastics in the dishwasher. I'm pretty unhandy, but it's not a tough procedure and who knows what else might be in that case? I like seeing the old service tags and stuff.
  23. That looks a lot like my Video Commander RF switchbox, which also features beautiful woodgrain siding and abundance of inputs. Great score! http://atariage.com/forums/topic/162073-phaxdas-blog-some-good-genesis-stuff-another-sega-cd-2600-and-a-cool-switcher-unit-from-craigs/
