  1. I am really looking forward to Mario Kart 8. A YEAR, though?!
  2. Ah, that was the answer to the question I was going to ask! Just got that note from Nintendo today. Feels like end of an era.
  3. I just wanted to post that after some 5 years, I obtained a Silver Axe from Serena last night. It was a big day. Our 9-month-old loves watching us play, she giggles and everything.
  4. We still use our PS2 to play DVDs. I am feeling very old.
  5. Hilarious, all the Bills fans checking in! All week I have been telling 49ers fans that after they lose 4 straight, then they can complain... Great setup, I really like it! Your custom NES shelving is way cooler than mine, and I thought mine was pretty neat--I modified some IKEA stuff.
  6. Ah, another one comes into the hyperscan fold... I cannot remember if all games came with the same cards. As far as Avatar cards, they do not exist. I have a bunch of Spiderman ones and they are the hardest cards to get. Still have many dupes if you are interested in buying/trading. I also have some retail display stuff that I am interested in parting with. Hyperscan collecting is really weird. I bought some card packs that were "sealed" from eBay but it was my opinion that the seller had repackaged them. I could not prove it though and did not want to make a big deal over a $20 purchase (for 5 packs of Ben10 and IWL). If anyone is interested in these, let me know. The system is really worthless--i know people wanted to hack it and all but that never got off the ground and I can't see why it ever would with stuff like the Ouya coming out. Come to think of it, that would be pretty fun maybe have a Hyperscan reader for Ouya!
  7. I bought a boxed copy of Beat'em and Eat'em at a church sale some time ago and after I got a load of the little lockbox that comes with it and the over-the-top box art I knew I wanted all of the Mystique games CIB. Got lucky and grabbed 3 of them for $100 on eBay and now I think I have 6 total and they are excellent conversation pieces. Still do not have a boxed copy of Sub Commander though!
  8. That is a sweet, sweet vintage audio find! Those things are awesome, have only heard them at my buddy's house but I know he's really proud of them. Should be--he refoamed them himself and he's like a vintage audio guru. And we know those guys are nuts--at least $200, that a sweet jackpot.
  9. The console itself weighs about 3.2 lbs. The shipping weight of box is is 9.7 lbs.
  10. I agree completely with everything in this article: http://www.wired.com...2/11/10-things/ 2. Brutally Slow OS. This is the problem that makes every other problem seem that much worse. Clicking on anything in Wii U’s menu, anything at all that you try to do, takes For. E. Ver. People can post text and images to the Miiverse feed, kind of like Twitter where you can draw pictures. But imagine Twitter where every time you wanted to view a new tweet you had to wait five seconds. Booting up, loading software, loading games, refreshing feeds…. Everything is accompanied by an agonizing wait. And this is why I am leaving my old Wii hooked up: So instead of simply being able to drop all of your previously owned Virtual Console classic games into a folder on Wii U’s main menu, you have to navigate into the Wii mode, basically rebooting the system, to do it. Most things on Wii U take forever, but man does this take forever: one minute, 28 seconds, two controllers and five clicks from startup to gameplay.
  11. It's true. It can take up to 20 seconds to move from one channel to another. It's not Hyperscan-level annoying, but right up there. Kind of drives me nuts.
  12. Buying this thing was worth it just for the upscaling of Mario Kart Wii. Rainbow Road has never looked so good, so vibrant, so shimmery. Still getting used to it--very disappointed about the wait for TVii.
  13. This looks really cool. My wife is from East Lansing; I hope to check this out (and the rest of the Mall--sounds neat) on our next visit to Grandma's house.
  14. I am still gradually working my way through Super Mario Galaxy and have the second one waiting once I am done. I too love this game--it's really so much fun!
  15. That is quite the price inflation and it in no ways reflects the reality of the market. Who is going to buy this? Someone who will resell and cost themselves serious time, money, and frustration that is probably not worth it? Another collector who will toss it into a storage unit and hope (foolishly, IMHO) that they will be able to sell it for more $$$ in another 10 years? I just don't see it.
  16. Sure CRTs have their downsides, but for retro-goodness they can't be beat. I really want a full console one someday, but I am worried they will be all gone by the time I can afford to buy a house... Noisy, dangerous, not green... kinda sounds like my brother-in-law's vintage Firebirds! Sure he has a new car too, but when you want to revel in history and nostalgia (video game or automotive), it's nice to have the option.
  17. Wow, just read all 4 pages, some interesting reading especially when considering built-in CRT emulation (or hacked-in, I guess). I could totally see this happening, especially given that so many emulation programs that run on a computer do this already. Eventually, the all TVs are going to be another big computer, right? They already run apps--bring on the "Classic TV Emulation" one! We have a 42" plasma, an this purchase was long-fretted over but I could not stand watching HD football on a non-HD screen. The TV we bought handles older non-HD input well, including the Atari 2600. I prefer it on a CRT but it's definitely playable on the plasma. I had to give away my old Samsung flat screen CRT, which was one of the finest video gaming TVs I've ever owned. Luckily, I did hold on to the only CRT TV we now have--this little guy: This was the size TV we had when I was a kid, only in black-and-white!
  18. Here's what I put on my About Me page on eBay: Lately, a few buyers have requested that I ship their items via Media Mail to save some money. Unfortunately, I cannot do this as games (in any format) are note eligible for Media Mail. My local post office takes this very seriously and they do inspect packages. Here is a helpful link on this matter. It is amazing how many sellers have asked me to ship via MM.

    5200 Tempest

Really looking forward to this--posting in the topic so that it will come up in "My Threads".
  21. Here's a pictorial advertisement! These shirts are super soft and look awesome. I wear mine all the time and it's a couple years old now, I think! Note the burpcloth at the ready to protect my precious tee!
  22. Hi, thanks for the PM, hope I can get you some games! Congrats for getting Qubes somewhere in the wild. I got mine in an eBay lot where it was listed as just Qbert, felt lucky that day! I keep a list of rarities on my phone for help--it works!
  23. I am at the end of my selling odyssey and have just a few items remaining. I will say that many of the items are instructions for games I don't have, cases for games I don't have, some disk-based games that are missing disks, atari games with condition issues, connectors of many varieties, etc. Basically it is stuff I just want gone as it was for the original. There is at least one copy of Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt . Boxes of Crap will be Large Flat Rate and cost $15. First two PayPal payments get them, will ship by next week at this time. I am still cleaning a bit. If you have dealt with me before or have my PayPal address somehow, you're in the driver's seat. If not, PM me for it and you might get lucky. Also, if anyone is looking for Activision 2600 games, let me know. I have just unearthed a box full--didn't even know I had these. Nothing super rare. Thanks!
  24. It's amazing how dynamic NES prices are. I remember when Tetris (just the normal version) could alway fetch $5 or so... I picked up one at the Salvation Army for .99 this week and looks like that's what they are now selling for on eBay so I shouldn't have bothered!
