  1. Now that my touch up of my old game Kung Fu Combat has turned into an official sequel ? I thought I would start a new post . made a lot of progress . Kevin Mosley is doing graphics for the most part . Game will be 16K , coded with assembly . Will have beta rom soon . Will wait until more graphics are complete to post updated rom . For now , 2 fight stage backgrounds are yet to be created and the map graphics are placeholders until Kevin gets back from work travel . The current fight stages are WIP also .The rescue scene before wedding scene will be in a dungeon which is yet to be created as well . But now you are progressing through a world that gives the scenes a sense of place . Normally you have to score 20 points to advance to next round , but I set it to 1 point just to be able to demonstrate progress .
  2. went ahead and upgraded to 16 K. The 5 levels all with different backgrounds is the plan . maybe a progress through lair and rescue princess type thing as theme instead of winning a competition which is current story . We'll see . We should have an update in the next weeks . Also I think the 2nd and 3rd opponents are to hard to beat will probably make them a bit slower . Gonna be called Kung Fu Combat 2 and not REDUX -- will be a proper sequel .
  3. Thanks ?. Some of the graphics is thanks to Kevin Mosley who is helping me with some design aspects. There is a new game called ninja combat 2600 work in progress that looks a bit more modern and very promising . But for having no enhanced graphics or processing I am pretty happy with the game play . Inspiration was the international karate championship I used to play on C-64. It had more moves though even though just a joystick and one button. Might add more if go to 16 K , but that is more work !
  4. Thanks. This is a graphical hack by KevinMos3. I really like it . Trees are now bonsai. Sky and Mountain a bit different and more consistent with title screen. Remember game # 5 is skill round practice. Also playing 2 player game as 1 player helps to practice moves. Strategy tip . Try to counter move as much as possible and strike while the opponent is vulnerable . Punch is worth 3 points but you must be closest ..
  5. ok . last update I think unless I catch a bug. I was not happy with the large gate . I think I like this background better . also dialed down the difficulty just a bit *************************************************************************** Remember to push down on controller to change facing direction . Game option selected by Select Switch . left score shows # players , right score shows game option . Game 1 = 1 player , players DO NOT reset to starting position after score and keep fighting Game 2 = 1 player , players reset to starting position after score Games 1 and 2 have 5 levels: Level l - Fight Computer AI to 20 Level 2 - Skill test ( can you kick or punch 20 missiles without getting hit by 3 ) Level 3 - Fight computer AI to 20 Level 4 - Skill test ( can you kick or punch 20 missiles without getting hit by 3 ) Level 5 - Fight computer AI to 20 If you can defeat all 5 levels, then you win ( a trophy appears!) Game 3 = 2 players , players DO NOT reset to starting position after score and keep fighting. Fight to 20 Game 4 = 2 players , players reset to starting position after score . Fight to 20 Scoring: Punch = 3 pts high kick= 1 pts low kick = 2 pt jump kick = 1 pt Game 5 = (mini game--- Skill Practice) How many of the 99 missiles can you kick or punch without getting hit by 3? ******************************************************************* Either button ( or reset switch) will reset game back to game select screen after game is over. To start game press either button. Controls: jump up up jump kick forward ( in direction facing only) diagonal UP ( in direction facing) punch button +forward high kick button + diagonal UP (in direction facing) low kick button + diagonal down ( in direction facing) walk left left walk right right change direction down(can only punch, kick or jump in direction facing)
  6. Updates : Now there are 5 levels instead of 3 in one player game : Levels 2 and 4 are skill levels , with 4 faster than 2. Level 1, 3, and 5 are fight vs. AI opponent . Now , level 3 AI opponent now wears gray Gi and is faster. Level 5 AI opponent wears red Gi and is even faster .
  7. Thanks! For now they play same except for the newer versions players don't jump as high off the screen. But still tweaking it . I have now added 2 more levels : a faster skill round and a third opponent . The opponents also get faster and now have different colored outfits . definitely harder to beat now as 1 player . This might end up being a 'Kung Fu Combat 2' . I might add multiple backgrounds or add the option to remove the gate . The players are same size . What about it do you not like exactly ? Is it just too much on the screen?
  8. a few graphical tweaks by KevinMos3 . I'll let this one breathe for a while ..
  9. updated graphics a bit more . added a Gate ''
  10. This was the third game I made , when I had not learned ( been shown by NukeyShay actually ) how to make a 2 line kernel (other than with D. Spice's score routine). I am extremely happy with the AI opponent , but was always a bit frustrated with fact that using 1 line kernel meant I had to use Flicker to get everything drawn , and also meant the players were a bit small in order to have the sunset and mountain background. I have polished it up and eliminated the Flicker . Also made the fighters larger . Still might polish up a thing or 2 but am happy with the result . Simple game but I enjoy it Controls are below for reference . Again, the most important thing to remember is that pushing down changes facing direction. Here is a quick playthrough with new graphics Remember to push down on controller to change facing direction . Game option selected by Select Switch . left score shows # players , right score shows game option . Game 1 = 1 player , players DO NOT reset to starting position after score and keep fighting Game 2 = 1 player , players reset to starting position after score Games 1 and 2 have 3 levels: Level l - Fight Computer AI to 20 Level 2 - Skill test ( can you kick or punch 20 missiles without getting hit by 3 ) Level 3 - Fight computer AI to 20 If you can defeat all 3 levels, then you win ( a trophy appears!) 11. Been meaning to post some videos for some time of gameplay of some of these games for those who have not seen them . I do not have the ability to capture any videos for games that use flicker . ************************************************************* 1 vs 1 Basketball ( Beach court) thanks to K. Mosley for Beach graphics hack 1vs 1 Baseball Pro Golf Desert Classic Pro Bowling
  12. Hi everyone, Fish Fight, Hot Box , and BackYard Football are now available for purchase through http://gooddealgames.com/inventory/Atari%202600.html ES
  13. Thanks . That is reassuring . I just was freaking out and thinking everyone else was seeing what I was seeing !. I have watched several streams before and have not seen that . Maybe I watched those live on twitch and that’s why. the game takes practice and patience to get the offense controls and pass timing down but once you get it is plays pretty well. Thanks ?
  14. On the stream the video did not look right . the players were flashing on and off like the frame rate was slow . That is not how the game is supposed to look or how it looks on Stella or on hardware . Is it just my phone or was that How it actually Looked ?
  15. fixed bug where touchdown would not register if entire end zone was not showing . This version sent to production. BackYardFootballCART.bin
  16. Can you change it to where the ball does not reset to midfield until after the "GOAL" stops displaying?
  17. This is like table top foosball. You could add the sliding bars
  18. I have an X Arcade tank stick . I believe they still sell these although they are a bit expensive . It has Usb output . Maps to keyboard . This would work with Stella don’t know if it could be Configured to real hardware or retron 77 https://shop.xgaming.com/collections/arcade-joysticks/products/x-arcade-tankstick-trackball-usb-included?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIp_uPg_rH6QIVXgiICR2QwQZ3EAAYASAAEgK_TvD_BwE
  19. Looks good . Just a thought , but could add the black bars behind the players with background color to make it All out foosball since that is what it resembles. Might clutter up the screen though
  20. Thanks to extensive testing by intergalactic419, I think I have a version with a much more challenging AI opponent. The red zone offense is better and the player is just a little smarter. This will most likely be the cart version . BackyardfootballR9.bin
  21. A few years ago I programmed some games in M68000 assembly language using a program called easy 68K. Just wondering if this sort of program could be adapted to Atari jaguar . There are some specific routines specific to that program , especially for playing sounds and drawing graphics, but these games are in a purgatory and I would like to find a home for them if possible .
  22. Thanks to Intergalactic419 for continuing to push for improvements. I have improved the AI offense a bit more. I have even lost a few games ! I'm gonna let this one sit for a while . Don't know if I can do much better than this! BackYardfootballRC8.bin BackYard Football.txt
  23. wow. that looks like a lot of work ! But awesome. Maybe you could require people that have games listed to be paid subscription members . Could also add info about hardware / bank switching methods for completeness, although personally I do not think this is necessary but some might like it .
