  1. Great interview. I was just commenting on facebook last week how much fun Johns DOS ports were and still are today. I dare say they are some of the best ports ever made. The Champ versions of games like Galaxia and Centiped-em are perfect examples of taking an existing game and tweaking it just a bit to add extra features without drastically altering the original game. And Mappy? Man what a fantastic 2600 port.

I agree. I was totally blown away by Mappy. I loved that game when I was a kid. I think I spent many weeks' allowance plugging quarters into that game! The Famicom port of it was good, but John's is still the best.

  2. Maybe, but you can feel secure letting your kids and grandkids watch my channel because there is no profanity of any kind. I have nothing but respect for James, as if it weren't for him I wouldn't have been inspired to start my own channel. However, I don't spend hours on end trashing people's hard work or finding new and creative ways to use foul language.

  3. I need to dig back into the files of my brain and relearn Basic. I had some fun with that game back in the day.

I'm married to a beautiful black woman so I understand.

You know what? I was thinking about making T-shirts for my channel, and you inspired me. Anyone who can make a mockup of the Basic Programming cartridge label with a black gentleman on the cover will be entered into my new contest. Whoever has the best design will win a free Class Gamer 74 t-shirt. You can use a photo editing program but I want it to look like it was made that way.

    Let the contest begin!!

  4. Thank you! John was surprised at how excited everyone is about a new Bowling game. personally, I loved Atari Bowling, I think I played it more than just about any other sports game I owned (except RS Baseball). I'm not sure how it can be updated. Maybe a trackball game? What do you guys think?

  5. Great to hear it. I have an interview on my channel coming up that any and all Residents fans will want to check out. I'm not saying who it's with...Homer Flynn. It should be up next week.

  6.

In the latest episode I interview John Champeau (or as we call him JohnnyC). It was a real privilege to be able to speak to one of the best programmers around. This part 1 or 2. Please don't forget to vote for the best hacks, homebrews and demos in this year's Atari Awards. Stay tuned for Part 2 coming in a few days.

    Thanks again, John.

  7. Forgot some details...you'll need this to connect your 2600 to coaxial splitter

Also stay away from the Hauppauge WinTV. You will have bad results with some systems.

I couldn't find the one I bought on eBay years ago. It was like $30 and it worked flawlessly with any console I connected to it.

Let me know if you find out. The ones I saw online were quite expensive.

  8. I think the other Aliens game was ignored because the Activision game was so great. Even when it was released for Apple it was something that hadn't been seen before. I remember going to a friend's house and playing it a lot there because my parents wouldn't buy me a C64. They said it was only for games.

Did you ever play the Alien game for C64? I wasn't too crazy about it but part of that might be because I discovered it "after" I played Aliens, so...

  9.

I hope everyone is enjoying Super Bowl Sunday. In my latest episode I discuss games based on the Alien movie franchise. I discuss Alien for the 2600, Aliens the computer game (for C64...by the way, does anyone know why this wasn't made for PC?), Aliens the arcade game, Alien 3 for NES, and a great homebrew called Apollyon.

I enjoyed the movies a lot (except 3), and I thought that they were perfect for game tie-ins, like Star Wars and Star Trek. Let me know your opinions on these games, and don't forget to vote for the Atari Awards.

  10. Really enjoyed the video man

I like to fashion myself as a connoisseur of older sports video games, and ashamedly have never heard of XOR's NFL Challenge. Looks like a fantastic game that I'd sure I'd have enjoyed back in the day. We had Football for the TI-99 4a which was very similar to that, but a bit more basic.

Have never played a 5200, and the football game on that, looks like I must give a try.

Loved the first Madden and spent way too much time designing plays with the editing feature. Just a fun game.

I'll second the hockey video, as that would be fun as well.

The hockey episode is coming. It will be the next sports games episode. You can get NFL Challenge @ www.myabandonware.com You will need DosBox to play it. If you need any help, just DM me and I'll walk you through it.

  11. I would like to purchase a cart of Pursuit of the Pink Panther. I don't care if it doesn't have the instructions or the box, I'm just interested in the cart itself. I want to use it on my YouTube channel. Plus there is sentimental value, too. Please get in touch with me so we can negotiate the price. Thank you!

  12. In the latest episode of my channel, I discuss early football games. I discuss all those that were released for the Atari 2600, plus the 5200's version of RealSports Football, and some PC and NES games. As the Superbowl approaches I think that we can look back on some of our favorite football memories, even if they were played in a video game! What are your favorite football games? Let me know, I'd like to hear about them. How about some memories of your own times playing some of these games? Thanks for viewing and supporting my channel. Please subscribe if you haven't already.

  14. In the latest episode of my Youtube series I discuss the game H.E.R.O. in a new series I call "Best of Activision". I know that sounds strange as most Activision games are great, even the unfinished prototypes. But with that in mind, these are what I consider the best of the best. Like many, I only recently discovered this game and I have become addicted to it ever since. I have to say it's at least in my Top 20 favorite games of all time.

I hope you guys enjoy it. Please don't forget to Like and Subscribe. I appreciate it.
