Everyone, here's the worst arcade port in all the 2600 arcade ports (which was a lot) Coleco produced a lot of trash for the 2600, but Donkey Kong is on a new level. Donkey Kong? Gingerbread man. Levels? 2. Paulina? Yellow-headed and wearing a blue dress with white sleeves. Considering Garry Kitchen (who cooked up Pressure Cooker) made this, this makes Donkey Kong frustrating and disappointing, especially considering the publicity surrounding the arcade port in 1982. Yes, I know they couldn't have done a perfect port, but this feels like Coleco was just lazy.

Coleco (supposedly) made the 2600 and Intellivision ports purposely bad so they could promote the Colecovision, I personally don't think it's a bad port, but there's a reason why it's "bad".

  2. Since this has been going around for the past month, I'm sure you guys already know about it. If not, here's a TL;DR version: Cooking Mama: Cookstar was released on the eshop and In stores on March 31st, 2020, but was quickly removed from the eshop and all remaining shipments we're halted due to a legal battle from Office Create (Owners of Cooking Mama).

If Office Create wins the legal battle, then that means the only way to play this game, is to buy the limited retail release. Keep in mind, this seems to be developing (and I haven't done a lot of research on the subject), so this post will probably be dated in a couple of weeks, but I have to ask, If the worst-case scenario happens and this game never gets released (again), will it be the Stadium Events of the Switch or is it too early to make that assumption?

  3. The results are in!

For question 1 "Although Animal Crossing was released Internationally on the GameCube, what was it originally released for?", the correct answer is Nintendo 64!

For question 2 "What was the original name for Ms. Pac-Man?" The correct answer is Crazy Otto!

For question 3 "Before releasing it themselves, who was the company Nintendo was going to license the Famicom to?"

    The correct answer is Atari!

For question 4 "What was the first video game to be officially released?" The correct answer is Computer Space!

For question 5 "What was the first system to have an online store?" The correct answer is Atari 2600 (look it up I'm serious)!

For the people who won, congratulations! You win nothing!

For the people who lost, congratulations! You win nothing!

    For the people who cheated:

Well only due to the format do I find this fits the strange ports bit, but how about the laserdisc conversion to a 4MB GAMEBOY COLOR cart?!  2bit color, reduced audio, minimized frames to death sequences, and 6 moves removed from the long Smithy sequence to fit the game -- but it is strangely there.

Was this talked about when it was released?!? It must've taken months to recreate every frame by hand!

  5. Remember, this is a one-off, a pilot, I may pick this back up on a later date or someone else can continue it (I'm totally fine with that), but for now, this is the only HSC I plan on hosting.

Welcome to the Sega Saturn HSC! This HSC Game will be Fighting Vipers. This is one of my favorite fighting games, it gets a little repetitive, but it has good music and some crazy hidden characters!

    Rules:

    1. When you post your score, don't forget to post which character you used.

    2. There is no "High Score" in the game, you have to get through the game as quick as possible, please don't use any exploits or glitches that will allow you to get an unbeatable time.

I'd recommend you use the Japanese version, but any version on the Sega Saturn will do.

If you don't have a Sega Saturn, or Fighting Vipers, Mednafen, Kronos and YabaSanshiro seem to be good emus (I haven't tried them, but according to the Emulation General Wiki, there pretty good). The deadline for posting scores is May 2nd at noon Central.

I hope you have a great time playing!

I think licensed ROMs should be treated like movies and music. Video game ROMs are a entertainment media.  Sadly, I think licensed game roms should be illegal to download. Like movies and music I can't just post the movie Jaws or a Beastie boys albums online.

Like other media who cares if your causally share a couple of games. And up until a couple years ago grabbing some ROMS wasn't really an issue.  But with people selling complete libraries of games on SD cards, I feel they're ruining it for everyone.  I find it hard to argue against Nintendo when their whole catalog of games is being sold for $50 online.

I just checked Craig's List, Amazon and eBay, and there's a ton of sellers selling SD cards with 1000s of games.

Although I do agree with you on some points, I have to disagree on the first part. Unlike most video games, movies and music get reissues, re-releases, and stuff like that, while some games do get the same treatment, do you think Color A Dinosaur or The Kung-Fu Master Jackie Chan will ever be re-released? It's very unlikely.

But I do agree with you on the last part, although I do download ROM packs online, I use them personally and would never sell them, even if I sell one of my modded systems, I'll replace the SD Card. People who sell ROMS make people who just download them for personal use look like douchebags.

Actually right now would be the best time to sue Disney as they are just bleeding money right now thanks to the parks being closed. They are are in huge debt right now. It would be funny to see them lose due to the fact they couldn't afford to show up in court.

As for this, Nintendo's lawyers will destroy this if it goes to court and Switches will still be sold.

I think Disney would show up to court for something of this magnitude, this would be the Disney equivalent of someone claiming their great-great-grandfather created a character exactly like Mickey Mouse named Mr. Rat and he's demanding they cease use of Mickey Mouse. Although just like this case, the proof would be very lacking and most of it would be coincidences.

  8. Gamevice is trying to file a lawsuit (for the second time) against Nintendo to not only appeal the first lawsuit they lost but also prevent the sales of Switches in the US. Apparently, Nintendo ripped off a tablet Gamevice made called the Wikipad, although the only thing similar is they both look similar (?), it seems like the company tried the same thing in August of 2017 and failed miserably.

I don't know why a company would try twice to take down an enterprise like Nintendo, it's like if a small animation studio tried to sue Disney. Even if you're in the right, you're gonna lose, they'll have more resources than your company will ever have.

  9. I don't really have a stance on ROMS and emulation, I prefer the real deal when I have access to it, but if I'm lazy or just can't find the game I want, I'll go download the ROM. Now, if it's ROMS for a system that's still supported by the company and there's plenty of ways to get the game, then I'm against it.

Also, apologies for my bad grammar, I was up all night and my brain gnome is working overtime

Which BASIC and which system are you thinking about? An interpreting dialect from the 80's has its shortcomings for sure, but nowadays even BASIC tends to be cross compiled into just as good executables as any other higher level language like C. Often the difference to pure assembly language is relatively little, in particular if you factor in the development time.

I'm mainly talking about the built in BASIC for microcomputers from the 80s.

  11. I'm looking for Rhythm Heaven DS, Preferably cart only and in poor condition (bad condition = cheaper)

I'm looking to pay no more than $7.00, I know I'm probably just screaming in a padded cell, but one can ask!
