Over 1 million infected and 100k deaths... And to think I thought this was "just a bad flu" only a couple of months ago.

Just remember that if a guy sneezes right before a piano falls on his head, it probably counts as one of those deaths. Health and Safety might be confusing topics in 2020.

What movie is this line from (bonus points if you know who said it as well!)?
"Every day ends in a Tums festival!"

Al, I'll give you not 1, but 2 virtual cans of pepsi if you make a Sega Saturn subforum.

The only piece of Star Trek media I've seen in full is the Pilot episode of TOS.
Is my Atariage liscense now revoked?

I second that recommendation, TOS and TNG are well worth looking into. In numerous places, you'll find "Top 10" lists for both series, so if you don't want to commit to watching every single episode, use these lists as a guide. You should see the first six Trek movies as well, but in my opinion you'll appreciate them better if you watch them only *after* finishing TOS.
TNG took longer to "gel" as a series, so the first two seasons get a bad rap, but there are gems to be found there as well. I'll recommend nine episodes from both seasons to help you steer clear of the dross. From S1, check out the two-part pilot "Encounter at Farpoint", then "Where No One Has Gone Before," "The Big Goodbye," "Datalore," "11001001," "Home Soil," "Heart of Glory," "Skin of Evil," and "The Neutral Zone." From S2, check out "The Child," "Elementary, Dear Data," "Samaritan Snare," "The Measure of a Man," "Contagion," "Time Squared," "Pen Pals," "Q Who," and "Peak Performance." S3 on is pretty solid, with a few exceptions, though the four TNG movies were IMHO a disappointment.

I just saw a short clip of a recent episode of SpongeBob and the animation looked like it was from a YouTube parody. Everything was squishy, fast, and the characters looked nothing like what they used to. Is this what happens when you let a show go on for 20+ years?

BREAKING NEWS: NASA Discovers Life On Earth!
"We would've never guessed" says scientist.

So I was looking at a German thread about Pong consoles, and one user claimed that Nintendo sold the Odyssey in Japan and made the plastic housing for the rifle peripheral. Can anyone confirm this? If so, are there any surviving examples?

Edit: Did some searching online and it does seem that Nintendo did acquire the rights to sell the odyssey in Japan, around 1974. There are very few websites that do say that, and none of them are super credible, but I have yet to find an article that says that it didn't happen. However I did find out that Nintendo sued Magnavox to try and invalidate Ralph Baer's patents for the video game, but lost. However this happened in 1985 so Nintendo had good reason to, regardless on whether they partnered with Magnavox more than a decade ago.

I just ate 2,700mg of sodium and drank two glasses of mountain dew. I can feel my body succumbing to sodium poisoning.

Does anyone know any good tutorials for BASIC? I can't seem to find one.

Depends on what kind of BASIC.
If it doesn't matter, try the VIC-20 manual.
If you want to learn a better version of BASIC, the CoCo Extended Color BASIC is also superb.
If you have an old computer, start from its manual. If it's bad, then consult a different manual. If there are no good manuals for your computer(very rare circumstance), then get another computer(or download an emulator, or whatever)

If Applesoft BASIC is OK:

the referenced online simulator is actually decent:

@Sir Guntz Yes the switch port. I should have elaborated on that.

Would anyone attend a monthly-bi-monthly public domain movie night where you can riff on movies and talk with fellow Atariagers? I'm thinking about creating a Discord server for this purpose.
-
I decided to go ahead with it. You can look at the movie lineup on the announcement thread:https://atariage.com/forums/topic/306754-coming-soon-atariage-public-domain-movie-night/?tab=comments#comment-4536382

If anyone is a fan of Gamecenter CX, there is a 24/7 twitch channel that plays every episode of the show: https://www.twitch.tv/cardfrek
