I was able to beat the dragon on level 7.

The game continues after that because the left difficulty switch is set to “A”.

 

Here’s a few things I found:

You’re awarded 100 points at the end of level 1 and 2 if you complete them without shooting.

If you complete level 3 without shooting, the boss does not appear at the end.

If you pick up gems on the first three levels, the dragon (snake) on level 3 is worth 2,500.
