  1. I used to love shopping at Half Price Books, but most of my local stores have closed down or have astronomically increased their prices. The occasional 50% one item coupons bring prices back into reasonable territory though. I agree that they have the advantage over GameStop through accepting multiple media types.
  2. Super Mario Odyssey is one of my favorite games of all time. I beat it last year, but I'd like to complete it so I frequently fire it up to hunt for a moon or ten. I don't think I'll ever get the jump rope moon, though.
  3. I still haven't played Super Mario Bros 3 yet. I'm trying to beat Super Mario Bros first so I can compare and contrast. Time to fire up the NES again...
  4. It's awesome that you guys are still gaming. I hope I never stop, but right now I'm finding it hard to devote a lot of time to longer story-driven or open world games.
  5. Well then I guess you're exempt from the rule! How about the opposite question - do you play modern consoles?
  6. I recently reconnected with an old friend and we frequently talk consoles and games. We've talked about the Atari 2600 a few times and he mentioned that the games haven't aged well. For reference, we're both 30. I just think it's tough, at least initially, to get into consoles that predate the consoles we had growing up. I had a tough time getting into the NES and SNES when I played them for the first time a few years ago.
  7. I looked up Atari 2600 RPGs and Dragonstomper came up in a few places. Is that the game you're referencing? See the user below. Might have the cartridge you're looking for! I think Waterworld is out of my price range right now. Might be interested in that cart! That's what I'm thinking, too. More gaming flexibility! I just thought it'd be easier to find someone with a spare Atari 2600 collecting dust than a 7800. Plus there's a bit of a price difference.
  8. Thank you for the suggestion! I Iike the idea of swapping physical cartridges, but I’m realizing that a multicart might be the best solution for an absolute beginner. Most original cartridges seem to be inexpensive anyways so it wouldn’t be difficult to buy them later. I’ve seen some discussion here on a harmony cart so I’ll check those out. Thanks again!
  9. Im interested in playing my first Atari console and I thought the 2600 would be a good start. Ive found a few games from YouTube videos that look like my types of games. Ive listed them below, but please let me know if there are any other action/adventure/puzzle style games I should try. Adventure Haunted House Pitfall Pitfall 2 Private Eye Raiders of the Lost Ark Riddle of the Sphinx River Raid Secret Quest Swordquest Games Yars Revenge Im open to other suggestions on games and hardware. Would it be better to get a 7800?
