  1. So I just got a ULTRASATAN and came with a prepared SD card.

However I can't launch any games. On both the 520 and 1040 these steps happen the same:

    * Turn on ULTRASATAN then turn on computer.

    * No hard-drive is detected.

    * While power is on hit reset button

    * Now hard-drive is detect.

    * I navigate to a games folder and a list of sub-folders with game names appear.

    * Now I open a game folder and it says there are zero files.

    * So I go back a directory and now the games folder says there are no game folders anymore.

    * Plugging the SD card into Windows shows all the game files do exist

    Am I missing something?

I've used the Cursor /// joystick to play Atomic Defense (though this is just a video of the game, I think you can see the handle of the joystick very briefly when I pick it up):

Mine looks basically just like those eBay photos above. They are quite hard to find though. The one I have I have because Mike tipped me off to an eBay auction he saw before I did, in fact. (Thanks, Mike!)

The connection is not the same as the Apple II joystick connection, but it seems like it would be quite useful to figure out how to adapt or modify an Apple II joystick to work in the Apple ///, given the rarity of these things. It may well have already been figured out, I haven't really looked into it, but perhaps now I will. Worst case, I can open mine up and see how it's wired inside, presumably these are not particularly complicated devices.

Is that an Apple III color display that works with color video port? If so what are those called?

Also anyone confirm a working Apple II to Apple III joystick converter?

The Concerto will be ready soon! A run of boards is on the way. While these boards are on the way to me, I am wrapping up some things in firmware. It will be available in limited numbers at first, so that I can manage the release and don't have a large backlog.

Concertino isn't ready yet, as development on it has been put on hold until the release of Concerto, so I have time to focus on it.

O nice, really good to see a 7800 cart may be available for homebrew etc.

Really want to get my hands on one when they become available. Sounds awesome!

  4. I have already wired it like that. Thats the same as the images @Ute sent but it doesn't work or I'm missing something.

I need to see a physical picture of what pins are what on a working cable for GoTek. Something maybe with gnd pins or cable mirroring is wrong idk. A real picture gives a lot more info about expected arrangements.

I'm trying to get one of these cables: http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?100832-Gotek-External-ROUND-Floppy-cables-for-ATARI-ST

But I would like to make my existing cable work as well and backup this information.

If you've wired correctly and the green LED is always on is usually indicating the cable is on the wrong way round

No thats not it. Upside down the green read LED is always on even when the computer isn't (I even tried mirroring the 14pin din cable).

I labeled both the adapters as facing forward (as in you looking at the face that plugs into a device port). Do I have something mirrored wrong?

If I get this working I'm sharing what the actual wiring is that doesn't leave anything to question. IDK why all the images on the web leave huge amounts to question of what is forward for a cable and direct mappings like my image shows. Really wish someone would map their existing cable with real images. This seems like such a critical cable to have to have a working ST520 that only supports external drives I'm surprised there isn't more on it.

  6. So I just got one of these: https://console5.com/store/byteboosters-sega-atari-snes-joystick-adapter-to-apple-ii-e-c-c-iigs.html

I've tested with two different Atari Joysticks with Mario Bros on Apple II+ and the jump button is always pressed (DPad / Joystick works fine).

Using an old Apple II joystick has no issues.

Anyone else have this issue or know how to get these converters working with Atari controllers correctly?

Oh yeah, I forgot one other console I don't have a flash device (or at least all in one multicart) for is the Atari 7800. I heard SOMEONE might make one of those eventually...

I have Watara Supervision to Dreamcast... 7800 is badly needed.

The person who started this thread who made NeoGD, LynxGD & JagGD is looking into making something for 7800.

Its one of the MultiCarts I really want as well and there is literally nothing for it... odd as the system is pretty good and has lots of ram etc.

Nice, I'd like to see how it goes and also if it would have any issues with my fz-10's RGB and 240p mods.

Worked first try.  I have a FZ-1 Japanese console I use a 100v down-stepper with.  Running "Need for Speed (US)" perfectly.

Also own the Japanese version of "Need for Speed (aka OverDriven)" so interesting to see the differences.

  9. Can someone tell me what ceramic cap spec from the image below is. (In the red square).

I'm thinking I may have the same issue as this guy: https://www.classic-computers.org.nz/blog/2009-03-29-re-repairing-an-apple-II-plus-clone.htm

Where that cap is bad as the voltage around 1v and that guy says it should be 4.2v.

    Is that cap a "100nF 50v"?

If so seems like this pack of caps contains it? https://www.amazon.com/Hilitchi-Monolithic-Multilayer-Capacitors-Assortment/dp/B071P44QBH/

From the photo, it looks like on the Gotek the even pins 2,4,6,8 etc are along the top looking at the orientation you have in your photo's,

Pin 2 being on the left hand side, so the lower row will be the odd's starting at pin 1 on the left.

So Atari Socket -> Ribbon Cable

    1 read ->>>> >>>>    30

    2 Side Select >>>>>   32

    3 Ground>>>>>>>>   any odd pin

    4 Index >>>>>>>>    8

    5 Drive 0 select >>>   14

    6 Drive 1 select >>>   12

7 Ground >>>>>>>   any odd pin

    8 Motor on >>>>>>   16

    9 Direction >>>>>>   18

    10 Step >>>>>>>>   20

    11 Write Data >>>>   22

    12 Write Gate >>>>   24

    13 Track 0 >>>>>>   26

    14 Write Protect >>>  28

If using ribbon cable (try get an old PC floppy cable) there will be a Blue or Red wire on one side

this is to mark Pin 1 of the cable so its easy to work out which way round it goes.

Sorry, can't help on the jumpers as I don't have a Gotec

    Hope that helps

I'm told M0 isn't needed (not sure if its a problem when its on or not). Only S0 is needed.

    If I can't get a cable from here: http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?100832-Gotek-External-ROUND-Floppy-cables-for-ATARI-ST/

I will go through the work of making a new cable.
