We only know that the Octopussy version was being done by one of Parker Brother's subcontractors.  PB decided they wanted a parallax scroller game instead so development on the other version was most likely cancelled.

Thought that might be the case.  Thanks for clarifying.  Still there is a possibility one of the programmers may have taken it home.  Got to live in hope.

In the unfortunate event that a collector passes away their collection will most likely be sold and end up in the hands of another collector.

Then it is in the hands of a higher power.  Sometimes secrets are requested and collectors do not want their identities known for many reasons.  If the guy dies then he dies.  There is nothing anyone can do to change it.  The rom is safeguarded and we have the information on it so lets move on to those prototypes that there are no pics or descriptions of right now and hope that one day someone, somewhere will allow the basic information to be known to the rest of us.

I agree! If it weren't for Tempest's excellent work in cataloging all the prototypes known to us,
we would never know that such games really existed!
It is possible that there are still some prototypes unknown to the public kept in some basement,
just waiting for some opportunity to be discovered!

That is the eternal hope my friend :)  I am a firm believer that The Incredible Hulk and Chop Lifter exist in some form.  Still hoping for the day when a pic of both will one day surface.

And your reason is wrong, I can guarantee it.  There is some info I'm not sharing here, but that's to protect the owners identities.  You're coming off as entitles and super obnoxious.  Just accept that it can't be shared at this time and drop it.

I will try and make a video of the gameplay sometime in here, but at the moment I'm super busy so that will have to wait.  I've actually been meaning to put up some videos of protos I can't release for various reasons.

Tempest I look forward to any videos that you may choose to release.  I understand how busy people can get but I also know if you say that you will attempt something you will get round to it when able.  Said it before and I will say it again.  A heartfelt thank you for all your efforts to the gaming community.

You can assume whatever you want, I'm not going to tell you who it was.  I have no idea why the second person cared about that, that's their business.  End of story.

Maybe he made a promise and has the guts to keep to that promise.  It is a rare thing in this day and age and as no one knows his reasoning perhaps we should all just accept it.  A video of the game in action would be nice but we all have access to the pics and descriptions on Tempest's site and until something changes lets just be thankful that Tempest was allowed to review it on our behalf.

Nobody would hassle them once the rom file is shared, and they can remain anonymous if they like.  What would be their motivation for not doing that, are they looking for a big payoff selling the cartridge.  Konami and intellivision entertainment might not care either way.

My friend I understand your desire to play it I truly do but believe me most prototypes are not worth the effort.  Exceptions in my opinion were Garfield and The Pink Panther but most are so far unfinished that they are unplayable.  I paid for a reproduction of MacDonalds just to have a complete collection but it did nothing but show the Golden Arches and I was left thinking why did I spend any money on it at all.  Locomotion may be completed but as I stated I never had any intention of playing it when I had the chance when it was in the arcade until 1995.  Tempest has done a great job showing pics and describing the game.  That is enough for me.

    Hello!

    I'm from the U.K

I got my 2600 in 1988. It was from a Littlewoods catalogue.

The games I remember having in the pack were : Joust and Missile Command. I think there was another game or maybe a couple of others.

I can't for the life of me think what they were.

Does anyone know? Did you get yours in 1988? I sort of think maybe Space invaders but I can't be sure.

I only had the games that came with it. It was a Junior model, the modern one.

You need to look at Atari Mania.  They have virtually every game listed.

Same game, the final version (well it never got through quality assurance, but it's most likely final)

Thank you for the clarification.  Back in the day several arcades had this game in the back corners as if they were ashamed of it and not once did I feel like wasting a coin on it.  There was an arcade at seaside town some 20 miles from where I lived that had this game until around 1995 I believe but then they also had a dusty Donkey King and Burger King that I always spent my money on instead.

There are several M-Network roms that I'd love to be able review, but they've never been made available to anyone outside of the person who dumped them (I believe it was one of the original DP guys but don't quote me on that).  The few that I've been able to do full reviews for are because a second copy has turned up somewhere.  I've been told that the roms have all been backed up and archived though, so no worries about that.

I was not aware that a 2nd copy had turned up of some of them.  Just wanted to say we appreciate your efforts and look forward to the next updates.

oh the orig. programmers have them.  oh thats cool at least someones got em. you really think mattel would go nutz if they got out?

Somehow I seriously doubt it.  The rom for Rocky & Bullwinkle was released for free some time back and as far as I am aware no legal action was taken because of it.  Still as Tempest has said the roms are safe and information on all BSR games have been categorised and put on various websites such as Tempests so for the time being that is enough for people like myself.

Again never seen that and never thought a company like Imagic would have employed its use.  The only different packaging I ever saw with Imagic was when they packaged Fire Fighter/Riddle of the Sphinx & Cosmic Arc/Atlantis together.  Truly fascinating stuff.  Again thank you for the heads up.
