Jumping At Shadows - WIP Platform Game from Reboot-Games
phoboz replied to CyranoJ's topic in Atari Jaguar
There is a differences between being ill prepared, and being able to improvise. Kurt Cobain's guitar technique was often labelled as sloppy by "besserwissers", but some think it was one of the elements that gave Nirvana it's unique sound. -

What mean I mean is a little bit like the first half of the Led Zeppelin records (which are timeless classics), there must have been a great deal of improvisation going on there? Because the songs tends to sound a little bit different when they played them live. Which added another dimension to it at each gig. They probably had a limited ammount of time in the studio, and I don't think they had all the material set in stone before they started recording. However, the recordings became a kind of reference point to which they could give variations at each live performance. -

I don't think time is important, inspiration comes in waves. Sometimes there is no inspiration for a long time, while at other times inspiration comes all at once. Of course, long time perfection of an inspired idea will make it better, but sometimes it's just best to let it be as it was at the first moment (before you use your logical thinking to trash it) -

Yeah I agree, glad that the Jaguar get so many cool games. To all the people out there pushing 8-bit hardware, you will never get a game that looks like any of the latest homebrew for the Jaguar! молодцы ребята, вы все прекрасные! ?♂️?♀️ -
Just got a Jaguar in 2022 - New to this community

I have a webshop that sell some homebrew games (Atari Jaguar and Vectrex) that ship from Europe: http://tjocktv.se/shop/ PS. If you want to buy Asteroite directly from UK, you can also check with @Gaztee: https://peleiadesshop.mydrobo.com/- 60 replies

Yes right, (besides from being bad) it will appear either as missing, partially connected, or not connected at all. PS. Normally I would expect some transient-voltage-supression-diodes on the sensitive connections to battle the cat problem.
-
The big cat is a speed-runner, he doesn't need saveslots! Thanks for the tip though, the EEPROM check function indicates that static memory isn't working according to spec, but it can't really tell why? Either the chip may be broken, or not present at all (which I doubt, unless the cat ate it)?
-
If you have to pat your cat while playing the Jaguar, keep your fingers away from the cartridge connectors. Your cat may generate a potential of thousands of volts, while an EEPROM chip is designed to operate at a few volts. NOTE: That this is just my theory ?
-
Where did you buy it from, I can only diagnose the problem if it was shipped from Europe? If you purchased from US you need to contact @Songbird, if you bought from UK you need to contact @Gaztee.

Yes, of course if you want to program in something like C#, or Java, neither are there any "Click n' Play" tools like Unity, and Game Maker Studio. The Jaguar should be possible to program using C++ though (if you fancy some parametric object oriented programming, which in my opinion is more powerful than for example Java?)
-
That's up to the publisher @Songbird to decide, but I guess it's unlikely to happen before the physical copies are sold out?

Escape 2042! I wonder why Orion stopped making Jaguar games?

We have so many game ideas in the making right now, but I hope we can narrow it down (this is definately one that will make it to the list). We also have a very interesting collaboration that I hope we can announce very soon?

Friday evening, ?! Everything is funny ?

Atari Jaguar Homebrew Games Released/Completed/WIP in 2022
phoboz replied to ZeroPage Homebrew's topic in Atari Jaguar
You should probably add Sébastien Briais to this project, as he has made a lot of customizations (on my request) to the Removers' library in order to make texturemapped 3D come true on the Jaguar (in a homebrew game). -
Yes work is being done, mostly on the art side right now.
-
Yes it is, you can order from US, Europe or UK (depending on your preferred location). Please see the first post in this thread.

I was finally able to give this game a blast after I returned from a long journey. Very nice presentation, thank you @CyranoJ and @agradeneu! I got to the 3rd or 4th level on the rocky planet, but this is probably as far as I can get? These spontanous gravitic eruptions are really challanging in combination with reverse gravity pull ?
-
I am glad you see the depth of this game. I wanted it to be a little bit different by offering multiple choices: THERE MAY BE SPOILERS INSIDE! These are just some of the design decisions we made during development of this game. I cannot speak for others, but if someone finds this game 'shallow', I doubt they have spent enough time with it?

Wow some amazing times for the Jaguar! Is this project still alive (one of my personal favourites)? -
A sister game to Gravitic Mines?
