  1. Okay, thanks. We don't need boxed games, just the cartridges to play. We're not that interested in dutiful collecting, just revisiting childhoods with the games for it.
  2. What games do you have available on cartridge that you're selling. I know Ms. Pac Man would be a stretch, but we're looking for stuff like regular Pac Man, Dig-Dug, mostly the arcade classics.
  3. Just wanted to say that the mechanism for the datacorder we were going to get rid of isn't working. Dunno if it can be fixed, but don't feel that comfortable sending it out to anyone, unless they really need one and can get it working again.
  4. Ah, there we go; just needed a deeper cleaning than I thought. Thanks for you guys' help!
  5. Yeah, other cartridges work just fine, from what we can test; it's just Super Demon Attack that refuses to work.
  6. Hmm, that didn't work. And we dunno how to open up the cartridge itself to clean the circuitry inside.
  7. We've got a cartridge of Super Demon Attack, but it's not working, even with our "new" TI. I'm thinking it's dirty, but I dunno how to clean it, or what to clean on it. Suggestions?
  8. So, we managed to find a pair of old speakers, and after a bit of fiddling, we got the hack we found on here for using them with a tablet to load up cassette tape programs to work. Somewhat; we got Peter Cottontail's Egg Hunt to work for a few rounds, before it froze (didn't bust up the TI, thankfully), but it's promising. So, now we're wondering, how do we get the loaded programs saved onto actual cassettes for their own use?
  9. Off-topic, but this made me wonder about games based on Short Circuit. Didn't know there were so many, but it doesn't look like any of them were ported to the TI, sadly...
  10. ArcadeShopper are interested in our wares, but for those who are also interested, here's what we have: One (1) off-brand datacorder that works with the TI-99/4A (black) w/cord. One (1) TI Extended Basic cartridge (black) One (1) set of original TI-99/4A controllers, the plug has been chewed by a dog a while back and hasn't been fixed. Works. One (1) TI-99/4A voice synthesizer unit in poor shape; casing is scratched up and some of the connectors are rusty, works. One (1) TI-99/4A console, non-working; has the original power supply and motherboard, but no video chip (the original one has a tooth snapped off while we were trying to fix it). Dunno which version of the keyboard we have; either has a non-registering I key, or the V and semicolon keys would occasional stick on it. For use as restoration project/parts.
  11. We've gotten a working TI, so this weekend, we'll be taking pictures of our duplicates and parts to put up here to see if anyone would like to trade for them. We're not asking for much; the main thing we're aiming for are some cassette-based games (especially the cassette for Tunnels of Doom).
  12. Final verdict: We got Ksarul's package, and it tested well. Tried it with the old TI, but the old DI doesn't work, still, so we're going to offer that as a parts computer, for anyone who is willing to take it. We've also got a few duplicates we can get rid of, as well.
  13. Sorry for the janky pics, my tablet doesn't have that great of a camera. Just wanted to let you guys know that Ksarul's package to us got here, and we confirmed that it works wonderfully on both the CRT and flatscreen, but our old one is still busted.
  14. I've been wanting to play these games for a while, ever since I found out about them, but for some reason, the jar files for them keep locking up on me with no way to progress. I managed to get Doom 2 RPG to work, but neither of these two. I'm using Kemulator for this. Can anyone help me?
  15. We have to make clear: even if we test them and make sure they're working, some of these components we'll be offering (like the speech synthesizer) aren't in the greatest of shape, cosmetically. As an example, we have a duplicate pair of controllers, but the plug has been chewed by a dog, years ago, so if it works, then you might have to deal with that. If we do agree to trade these things, we will post up pictures of them, for full transparency, don't worry.
  16. After we get the working TI from Ksarul and confirm it's working (and check to see if we missed something with the old TI), I'm thinking of talking with my boyfriend about trading the duplicates of cartridges and other accessories we have, thanks to FarmerPotato (after testing to make sure they work, of course). I know for sure we have a duplicate tape datacorder (we found the old one at the old house, dunno if it works or not), a duplicate voice synthesizer, and a duplicate XB cartridge. The old TI, if it's still not working after our tests, we've already got a person willing to take off our hands, so yeah. I'll get back to you guys about this later, but for now, the items I mentioned are tentatively up for trade. We're not going to ask for much (no grom cartridge or anything), but maybe a few cassette-based games or the like.
  17. Apparently, all of the parts inside the TI seem to look fine, but they can't get it to work, still. We're at a loss as to what to do, now. Only option is to ask if there's anyone within an hour's drive of Warsaw, IN (preferably in the Fort Wayne, Columbia City, or Elkhart/Goshen areas) that knows how to fix a TI willing to let us take it over to them and see what they can do with it. At this point, we're thinking it's either a glitch with the RF cable/Composite Cable (we know the former is likely screwed up, but maybe the latter is a dud), or something happened with the cartridge slot that caused a glitch or something. We ARE willing to pay for services, but with our low budget, it'll have to be in installments, if that's okay. We are getting no signal at all, now, with either cable (as in, we don't even get the static or black screen), but it is powering on and it doesn't look like anything was damaged, so...
  18. Not a TI event, but is anyone here going to the Fort Wayne, IN Hamfest, this year?
  19. For new projects other people could do, I was researching Faceball 2000 (aka Midi Maze), since my boyfriend was fascinated by the GB version through an LP of it online, and I saw that there was a prototype made for it on the Atari 8-bit consoles, so that would be an interesting game to port, for those who want a FPS on the TI.
  20. Looks like ours, despite the attempts, is down for the count *sighs* Sorry to everyone who contributed, we wish we had better news on this. We do have some offers to get a working one, and to get this one off our hands for repair practice, so... I guess that's our contribution?
  21. I've heard that there were people on here that offered repair services, but no one's heard from them for a while, so that's why I'm still looking for help and parts. From what I'm told, though, the RF is usually flaky, and as far as chips go, the VDP chip and one or both of the ROM chips are the most prone to breakage (which is why you get the staticky or black screen with/without beep). For building up parts, Ksarul has made a lot of offers to us, and mentioned he has several working and non-working TIs that he can share with those who want to get back into the community. If you want to try working on them for learning how ot fix them up for people like me, then he's probably your best bet to go to for parts for that. I've not had that best of luck on Ebay, but make sure to check the relevant post for any deals people find on there.
  22. Dude, why try to poke the hornet's nest? These guys have been the most generous and chill community I've ever seen. Don't try to provoke them with this entitlement BS...
  23. Yeah, I agree with Tursi, here; this is like the NES Mini; it's a cool piece to have, and in its way technically impressive, and having a limited supply of them makes them more valuable, but in the end, it's more of an awesome novelty than anything and in no way worth the insane prices that scalpers would charge for it - the original asking price or slightly more than that, sure, definitely, but not anything exponentially more than that.
  24. Oh, god, the 2600; that was my 80's console of choice, before I got a Genesis. Had many fond memories of it; believe it or not, I remember having and LIKING Pac-Man for it, as a kid...
  25. Yeah, and we have one, but the problem is that, if it is the RF cable we're having issues with and not the rest of the console, we've tried the composite on both our flatscreen and CRT TVs, and we get no signal from either; the Flatscreen doesn't seem to be old enough to reliably convert the signal from the TI (again, if it is the RF that's the problem), and we don't have the means to switch the CRT to the proper setting for composite (for some reason, ours doesn't have a menu button on it, and we lost the remote to it, so unless we can find an old universal remote that can work with it, we're kinda stuck with RF for it).
