I could do I suppose. It's pretty trivial, these sticks are designed to be modded by the users. There's a C clip on the end of the joystick shaft, just remove that and the spring and actuator can be replaced, then put the C clip back on and put the stick back together, takes about 10 minutes. I got my parts from Focus Attack they are knockoff Sanwa JLF's so any of the parts for that stick will work. You could even upgrade all the parts in the ArcadeR with genuine parts if you really wanted to.

Well now I know how to get custom purple buttons/knob..

    Yes

If it makes anyone feel a bit more comfortable, I am going to be the USA shipper, there is a box of 85 joysticks on its way to me right now.

At the moment he is still shipping from China but you will eventually order from a .co.uk, pay to a Chinese paypal account, then a Serbian in China will tell a Brit in America (me) about it and I will ship you a joystick to your USA/Canada address. What's the worst that could happen?! 😂

Can you sell to another Brit in the USA? :D

Djordi lives in China, he's Serbian I think. His website is .co.uk because he sells mainly to the Spectrum scene and they are mostly Brits.

At the moment everything ships from China but he is in the process of setting up local USA and UK distribution to cut the very long delivery times.

I think the bottom line is that even though the website looks wonky and stuff comes from China, that these are legit products and it's ok to order.

Last month I bought a 800 and a Fujinet - which isn't working.  Since I don't have any other 8 bits or SIO devices I have no idea if the Fujinet is defective....or if the SIO on my 800 is bad.  Hoping someone lives nearby where I could swing by and see which piece is the issue.  Like plugging the Fujinet into another 8 bit or a drive into my 800.  Thanks.

As mentioned earlier, the Fujinet requires USB power when used with an 800 so let's rule that out first.

I'm in Indianapolis but I'd travel to an Atari party in Ohio ;-)

Will this version be better tested? Will the top half of the PIA address space work in this release, so programs like SynFile+ (or game like Gravity Worms) will also work?

It's about time you switched to a better file manager program than SynFile, and cut your hair while you are at it... You already know Gravity Worms won't work because you MADE it that way.

    Hi All,

I have my humble opinion about this device. First of all thanks for interesting project, but the BOM looks crazy. Not special chips, but resistor modules. Who ever are using two different resistor modules with 8 and 7 resistors inside? Just place two identical 4K7*8 resistor set and leave one pin floating! Same with 3K3 4 and 5 resistor sets. At least it is nice, that I can use single resistors in other places. Even SMD ones instead of 100K module. Also, I am not sure if there must be such exact value for digital schematics.

Another think is that I must have specific expensive modules for video, ROM and MMU. It is nice that connector is just mirror image of ROM and PAL/GAL chip.

The board without add-ons is like this:

It works. It is pity, that there is no Eagle files for it. I would like to make some modifications: SMD resistors and general chips. It was much harder to get "generic" chips compared to Atari ones.

Well thanks for your first post, clearly the 1088XEL isn't for you...

Yeah - as Dr mentioned, the FR-301 is their replacement for the 808.  I am not familiar with any other makes or models.  The Hakko line is expensive, it's definitely a professional model.  If you are only going to do one or two replacements, I'd probably find something cheaper, but for regular/continual work, they can't be beat.

Yeah I would only use it for hobby work so I'll probably look at the Aoyue line.
