Ah, you're right, my firmware is different. In that case, it looks like there is a new firmware upgrade on the Atgames website.

OK everybody, made some interesting discoveries tonight, I tested this out after reading this comment on a YouTube video about the Legends Flashback, it turns out that in order to unlock the SD card slot you need to have a folder named GAME on the root of the SD card, you do not need any firmware. Out of the box I found that NES (.nes), Genesis (.bin), SNES (.fig), and Atari 2600 (.a26) roms work with just the stock unit. However, after doing this a couple of the built in games stopped working for me (Maui Mallard and The Jungle Book), so you may want to hold off putting Genesis roms on this system. I tested this with a Sam's Club deluxe version, but I don't think it would be much different with the standard edition.

Looks neat, even though a lot of the games are ones that have been released before. 7800 game inclusion is what I'm most excited for.

You ever notice that whatever gets announced...People always want something else?
I mean it's very cool that now, with the internet companies can see what people really want...But here I am happy for a Genesis Mini...And most Twitter comments are When are ya gonna make a Saturn Mini?, Why no 6 button Controller? (OK This one I get since Japan gets one), and How about a Dreamcast Mini?
I'm wondering if this might be the reason we only got the three button: http://retro-bit.com/sega-collaboration can't say for sure, but this is the only reason I can think of.
I saw the twitter comments too, it makes me chuckle because people seem to forget that both the saturn and the dreamcast were massive failures. Don't get me wrong, they're both very innovative consoles, but both times playstation blew them both out of the water.

If only they stopped altogether using "iconic", "legendary" and slow-poke "reveals" ... it's like the world has gone dumb ... it worked a couple of times but we are in 2019 where Netflix releases all episodes of a series at once ... so enough with the nonsense, the made up hype and thrill of expectation.
I get that, it seems like nobody learned from the PS1 classic debacle.

I'm torn between it and the more limited harder to find 2018 atgames Genesis that slipped out before Christmas. I'm sure most here would laugh at atgames, but that one they gave up trying to do it in house and licensed genesis gx emulator from the author. Combine that stability with the cart slot on top, real controllers as a choice and a built in on the right side SD slot that allows you to basically play any game (outside of Virtua Racing due to the SVP chip) and it's hard to really ignore it. The only way to match that for a more compact size still and games would be about a $300 investment into an everdrive and a mega sg from analogue.
I don't blame you man, that 2018 one is pretty neat too. Having Master System games is pretty sweet. The only retailer that seems to carry it in my area is Target, you might want to check there.

Since I haven't seen this posted in any other boards, I'll make one! Looks pretty nice, liking the game lineup so far. Quality looks on par with the SNES classic. What do you folks think?

Recently saw this at work, we finally cleared all the 2017 Genesis stock. It seems like Target is the only US retailer carrying this right now.

Also, GBC games work if you remove the "c" from the .gbc file extension and turn it into a .gb file.

I got this a few months ago, it's a nice little system, although it has one major flaw for me, GBA games run EXTREMELY SLOW on my unit. Has anyone else had this problem and could tell me of a possible fix?

I had that problem too, this will sound strange, but try leaving the system alone for a few days, then turn it on without an SD card inserted. I did that and those two games started working again.
