Season 10 ~ Week 3 ~ Midway Arcade Part 3

Hey man, great score! But you have to play on "Skilled", which is the game selection that doesn't have the teddy bear to the left of the score -

You posted at exactly 12:00 midnight, which is on-time. 12:01 is late, and is that point your post doesn't count ... well ... at least it shouldn't count, even though it has recently. -

Notifying a player directly of a mistake, especially one that is believed to be unintentional, is not a humiliating experience for players who make unintentional mistakes, but a helpful and informative experience. Quite peculiar, if not revealing, is your statement, to be honest. Conversely, not asking the player to clarify but, instead, running to a moderator behind the back of the player who made the honest mistake makes it look like you're a tattle tale ... and gee, Evandro ... you're not a tattler... are you? We're here to play by the rules and have fun, not tattle. I would hope that if I made an honest mistake, other members would show me the respect of saying something directly rather than tattling. -

Hey Evandro ... that board looks like of funny, btw. Gee ... you're not using some sort of hack Brazilian multicart, are you? Don't feel bad, though ... I've seen Brazilian hack multicart scores be submitted before, here and elsewhere, and I'm sure it wasn't intentional. If I remember correctly, you commented that you were okay with the hack multicart score submitted on another site ... I hope your credibility hit wasn't too large. That probably won't fly here, though. It's too bad another player at the time who expressed support of the hacked multicart took away his influence at the last second, causing everyone else who he convinced to vote yes to lose a bunch of CR rating. I've also noticed there is no shortage of hack Brazilian multicarts floating around Brazil. You probably should consider playing again using a real, non-hacked version of Ms. Pac Play on an emulator and you can get the actual legit ROM right here on AtariAge. Also, if you're interested, you can always find a non-hack actual Ms PacMan cartridge for sale on eBay, usually for less than R$20, because it's a common game. Good luck! -

A normal per maze score is about 800 (this assumes 3 ghosts eaten per power pellet and one vitamin. In a 100K game, that's about 125 mazes. The book above states that the pattern shown is for mazes 5 through 10. That's about 115 maze 11s (or about 92% of all the mazes you'll play) which you'll face in a 100K game that this 5 to 10 pattern would presumably need to be tweaked in order to be effective. I hope he posts the pattern for maze 11. -

Not that it matters yet, but I was just curious: is each game of the two for this week worth up to 25 or up to 50 pts? -

Thanks, Pete! The scoring rate is attributed to an aggressive, more risky ghost hunting element, usually when my reserves were high. -

I utilized a combination of several patterns. To last, you pretty much have to, because the ghosts have RNG as a component in their logic and you can't always manipulate them into doing what you want. The main two patterns I used I give all credit to @nads He was the first that I have seen use them, and the two are the most effective. In times where the ghosts go rogue, I branch off into any one of a dozen contingency patterns I developed, a couple ad hoc, based on ghost deviations, which there are a few, but given the size of the maze, that number is limited. -

I'd go even further. For me, personally, if a Genesis (D-pad) controller does *anything*, it gives its user a *disadvantage*. I've tried using one instead of a CX40 ... it was disastrous LOL -
Congrats to OldManG!! Well done to Oyama and Nads!

Makes total sense. PAL versions of Atari games play slower, and using PAL versions gives substantial tactical advantage for speed-factored games like Kaboom. Indeed, I recommend that everyone use PAL versions, especially for Kaboom. Uh ... except OMG ... he doesnt need any advantage on this game. He destroys the game without needing a slower version. LoL!

Thank *you*, Poco! I'll be quite frank, though (and you already know I feel this way) ... Overall, OMG is just the better player. I simply got lucky with game draws and time, and is the sole reason for the results. Don't get me wrong... ILL TAKE IT LOL! Sure, there are many games that others have dismantled in the past, and I can dismantle them a bit further, but OMG is a trailblazer who dismantles games that *nobody else* has ever dismantled, and does so consistently and thoroughly. He is the only one I've ever seen that possesses such a gift. It's a humbling honor to even be compared to him.

Congratz to LaurenTyler for taking the Bronze Bracket!

Thank you, OldManG! This final round required every ounce of my A-game, a bit more time than usual, a couple of panic-borne PBs, *and* a whole lot of luck! This could have gone either way. Thank *you* for being a true, tough competitor. You personally have made this an honor!
