  1. Can’t believe this… the HeadStart Explorer, it lives! Even the monitor survived shipping (thanks to @doctorclu’s excellent packing job)

currently getting some games onto a 720k disk. Not too many good stuff that’ll run on an XT with 512k RAM, but still. Unfortunately the hard drive controller doesn’t fit in the computer without the riser card (not wide enough) but at least I can test it on another computer.

I wonder if I could plug my C128 into this monitor.

That will be interesting.   I always liked how it had a built in GUI (a few years after Mac and ST) but that it did not need to actually load anything as all the applications were built in.   Always dreamed of taking the eprom out that had all the programs, see if I could remove one of the more stupid programs, add a small modem program, and to a BBSer like me it would have been more complete.

After that it would have been basically a ready to go terminal!

The GUI is pretty cool; but I found it to be terribly slow. But hey, this was before Windows 3; you didn’t have many better options on PC in 1989.

I thought one of the icons that looked like a phone was a terminal program but it turned out to be a calculator.

Perhaps if the ROM chip is socketed and supported by my EPROM programmer I’ll dump it and see what’s inside.

Sweet, curious to know what you find.  :D
