  1. Thanks. I own a CoCo 2 and an original copy of that manual, but I'll still check out that PDF as my original copy is borderline disgusting. A bookworm crawled out of it the last time I opened it. I also have an Arduino Mega and a TL866II+ EPROM programmer. I'm ready to build the computer with real parts apart from... owning the actual parts to make the computer. At this point I've stepped away from designing hardware and started the software part of things. Not that I won't work more on the hardware in the future; I most definitely will. I still need to add that serial port and floppy/hard drive controller card!

  2. That's cool! I didn't read through the entire project but regardless. I like the backplane and card based design; mine is all integrated onto the main PCB, with only a single expansion slot (more about that on the next blog entry). Unfortunately I don't have the tools and thingies I need to etch my own PCB, so if I ever want to make a PCB I'll have to have them manufactured. Oh well, at this point my computer has a lot of great features (wait till you see) so maybe people will buy some if I have to make 5 of them.

  3. @youxia Thanks! What with the PET being a rare machine, it's surprising people take their time to develop such devices. I really appreciate them for doing so, but it's still surprising.

PETs are getting very hard to come by these days, and snagging one for anywhere near a reasonable price is next to impossible. I remember just a few months ago even eBay had a few PETs ranging between $400 to $700, but now they're all nearly or over $1000! It's completely absurd. I suppose it's because PETs were mostly owned by schools which threw them all away after replacing them with a PC.
