  1. Have you heard about the lonesome loser?

Bitten by the Queen of Hearts every time.

Have you heard about the lonesome loser?

He's a loser but he still keeps on trying.

  2. Is there really nobody that can use a free laptop for the price of shipping?  It will be recycled two weeks from today if not claimed HERE .

    1. carlsson

      That's a shame.

Wrong continent, but I was thinking about it earlier in the week when my similarly aged laptop only flickered in red and black and was barely usable. However today it worked fine again. Must've been low capacity on the battery (with charger plugged in) when I booted Windows and the driver failed to initialize the screen properly. Phew, that it displays as it should again so I don't have to hunt for a new laptop immediately.

It's a nice laptop, I have two 17" ones from that era that have since been retired, played a lot of World of Warcraft on them back in the day!

  3. Attention all PC people!!! Check out my give away thread HERE for a great deal on a Dell laptop!!!

    1. GoldLeader

I just got mine repaired !   Otherwise I might have wanted it!  Very nice of you to give it away though :)

  4. What is the best Linux distro to use on an old 32 bit 2 core POS?

    1. doctorclu

I'm going to throw in Red Hat?

    2. joeatari1

Thanks, I loaded Mint XFCE 19.3.  I figured I'd try that first.  It seems nice and has tons of utilities and office programs too.  I can't figure how to get my WiFi card recognized though.  It only recognizes the ethernet port.

  5. Well, I'm back from four days in the hospital.  I had a heart attack on Sunday morning and will need to make a few changes in my life.  Luckily the surgeon was able to open up my arteries through my wrist without cracking my chest.  So glad to be home though.

Ohh dear.. Happy to hear you're back online!

    4. GoldLeader

Godspeed @joeatari1!   Very glad you're OK!!!!!   Get better!!!!!

  6. Home sick from work again.  Diarrhea is not fun.

    1. jd_1138

I used to have bouts of it plus periodic constipation until I started taking fiber twice a day (natural psyllium husk). It makes you regular and pretty much you wake up in morning, use commode, and no more throughout the day (maybe a small one every other day around 4pm). Average person has like 5-10 pounds of waste in their bowels -- keeps them from being regular, and it's bad for immune system.

Target has it in their brand for 1/3 Metamucil price. Anyway, hope you get better fast.

  8. What do you call an incorrect answer on a cows math quiz?

    A miscowculation!

    1. frankodragon

I'm guessing the cow will be grounded beef after her parents find out she flunked the test.

  9. Just in case you were wondering, food poisoning sucks.

I haven't had it this bad ever!  It's been since Tuesday night and I am still not 100%.  I have had it last a day or two tops and usually I am right back on my feet again.  The digestion part, dizziness and fever lasted a day and a half but my gut still hurts and I am mildly dizzy still.  That said, I've only had food poisoning two or three times in the past so I'll count myself lucky there.

    3. GoldLeader

Damn Joe!   I hope for a good recovery from here on out! At least it won't take months like a pneumonia I had.  You might try drinking some Gatorade.  Hydrating and electrolytes etc. can really be helpful.  Godspeed!

      Install Overbite. Problem solved :P

  11. Arby's has a new Diablo chicken or brisket sandwich out.  I had the chicken for lunch.  I like some spicy stuff but HOLY HELL!  It didn't kick in until I was about 1/3 through the sandwich, then it got really spicy.  By the time I was 2/3 through I felt like I was eating the Devil's A$$hole!  They give you a small milkshake with it and trust me, you'll need it.  I couldn't finish the last two bites and anyone who knows me knows that I don't waste food!

I wonder if the Devil's A$$hole is any hotter than the Devil's Dick?

    3. GoldLeader

I made a Spicy Veggie Chikkin' sandwich in tribute!  Haha...Sometimes ya get a wild one too.  If you ask me,  certain peppers vary in their hotness...Jalapenos can be very mild or very hot IMO,  Ghost Peppers are pretty constant,...I bought some peppers a while back (Can't remember the name though...Kind of like Serrano peppers) But these (whatever they were) said on the label,  "Usually Mild but 1 in 10 are Hot!" ...Found that interesting...

    4. GoldLeader

Figured it out! ...Shishito peppers!...OK, Then...They're mild....Just... had to find that memory...Cheers joeatari1!

  12. I received an email about all the new games in the AA store the other day.  Thanks AA and all the devs for making great new games!

P.S. Status updates are working for me again!

  13. Merry Christmas Atari Age!

  14. I went "for to get a big dish of Beef Chow Mein" tonight for dinner.  Warren Zevon would be proud.

@7800Knight, no but I do have some Pina Colada mix from Trader Joe's somewhere in the house.  Does that count?

    4. GoldLeader

FWIW,    in tribute perhaps,  I am drinking a half orange juice, half Pina Colada over some crushed ice with a dash of pineapple juice/chunks, and some maraschino cherries and juice...

  15. Alan Parsons Project.  The soundscape of their songs are so deep and immersive.  I love picking out the individual instrumentation from their songs.

What is that all about Max?  (Austin Powers reference?)

    4. Max_Chatsworth

      Of course :)

      Merry Christmas

Yep, one of those things that's probably easy to do if you're a pro. It's a hard-won skill. So once you master it, you will then want to do other tile projects for others. :) Hopefully for money. I learned a lot of stuff owning an old house for 20 years. I could probably start a small project construction co. at this point with my skills and tools owned. I think in Ohio if it's $1,000 or less, you don't need a contractor's license.

  17. If an new AA battery is $2, how much is a dead AA battery?

    Nothing, it's free of charge!

  18. Mike Nesmith of the Monkees died today. He was 78.

    1. SlidellMan

As someone who liked listening to their music, this is sad indeed.

    2. ClassicGMR

I loved listening to The Monkees albums. I never heard anything from First National Band though... I should go find a tune and see if I like it.

    3. Nathan Strum

      Nathan Strum

I've been a fan of the Monkees (and particularly Nez) for over 40 years. He looked especially frail during the tour he and Micky just concluded, but of course you always hope that such things are momentary.

I'd highly recommend checking out Nez's solo work. Tropical Campfires, The Newer Stuff, Magnetic South, and if you're looking for something a bit different, try The Prison (which is a masterpiece) or Rays. Micky just released an amazing album of covers of Nez's work titled Dolenz Sings Nesmith. Well worth checking out.

      Rest in Peace Nez.

  19. Everybody have fun tonight.

Come on everybody Shang Tsung tonight!

How's that MKII cabinet working out,... Great I bet?

    2. joeatari1

It's awesome!  Fits my basement bar theme perfectly and covers up the sewer cleanout pipe just like I had hoped.

  20. Bought an Arcade 1UP MK II cabinet on Tuesday.  I received it today, two days earlier than expected!  I assembled that sucker in about an hour and a half with my older daughter helping.  This thing is really cool and looks great in my newly renovated basement!

  21. What do you call a cow with no legs?

    Ground beef!

    2. GoldLeader

I call him MR. Unlucky the Non Motion Cow!

I could stick a micro chip in him...Chipped Beef!

Maybe stick some corn up there...Corned beef!

      Add pot...Corn Beef Hash!

      I crack myself up.

Doesn't really matter, she isn't coming to you when you call her anyway...

  22. Chillin in the recliner with a glass of Wild Turkey with honey.  Super smooth, and it's Wild Turkey, ready for Thanksgiving.

  23. I'll just leave this right here...

  24. My wife just called someone a "douche hat".  Best of both worlds I guess, douche bag and ass hat all rolled into one!

    1. DoctorSpuds

I prefer Douche Nozzle, or if Shitweed if I'm feeling nasty.

Creative swearing is one of life's greatest pleasures.

    2. Rogerpoco

I combine the other two a lot, ass bag.

No idea why, I just do. People, places, and things can all qualify.

  25. Home sick from work today, the day before I am supposed to go on vacation.🙁

    3. joeatari1

Thanks guys.  I have a low grade fever and I'm extra snotty.  Otherwise not so bad.  Hopefully I can fight it and get back to normal (or at least as close as I'll ever get) by morning.

    4. frankodragon

      It's always something isn't it?

A few years ago, the night before the MGC in Milwaukee, I threw my back out.  I moved like a Frankenstein during the whole weekend.
