Lesson #1 from 2021: If Keanu Reeves is involved in a hyped project, prepare the popcorn: there will be drama.

If Atari had released the Dreamcast in 1973 with Ray Tracing, Dungeons & Dragons wouldn't have had a chance.
-
@DraxxonDon't be so confused. Check out the Atari 2600, Jaguar and Dreamcast forums for references.

"For a genius, George Lucas sure has a lot of bad ideas". Now that's a way to start a video game review! (Quote from CGW's review of Indiana Jones and his Desktop Adventures in 1996)

Sorry for the non-Garfield related interlude, but Alan Moore views on magic and art are interesting:
I thought he had gone crazy, but it appears he just started calling art "magic".

Austria will make vaccination mandatory in February. Other European countries may do the same.

Unpopular opinion: Halloween (the movie) is way better than Halloween (the celebration).

Looking forward to Uncharted: The Movie: The Game: The movie.

I'm starting to see an inverse IQ/number of status updates relation.

Reminder: Don't post several Garfield Status Updates. Use Garfield Status Updates cautiously.

Last night I had my most nerdish dream ever: was in a book shop and saw NEW "ESCAPE FROM TENOPIA/FROME" BOOKS.

Anyone remember a Star Wars/Trek parody movie where the crew of a starship were all a bunch of incredibly hairy hippies with extremely long beard and hair? Made in the 70s or 80s, very obscure, doesn't appear in any "list of parody movies" list. Could be European.

Thanks for the answers! It can't be BBC's HGttG because there was no guy with a bathrobe, but it's certainly similar to the ending of The Ice Pirates. I will have to check that one out!
(I saw the hairy people in the TV as a kid and now that I'm watching the original Star Trek series and movies, I couldn't help but remember it when starting The Motion Picture [1979]).UPDATE: Okay, so it looks VERY SIMILAR to The Ice Pirates ending, but the movie I'm looking for looks like this all the time. The hairy people are the characters in their normal state somehow.
-
Remembering stuff as a kid is sometimes weird. I recalled a scene from what I thought was a movie my dad was watching, and it somehow stuck in my head. Never saw it again, never could figure out the movie.
And just this past year, because of all the old TV shows on the antenna channels, I randomly saw the actual scene again, and it was an episode of CHIPS. My mind was blown!
That's the main reason I thought it might have been the Ice Pirates - I thought it might have been a similar situation.

Would Atari have been more powerful had they conquered the whole world and add an Atari logo to each national flag?

How to kill suspension of disbelief in 5sec: - "it's inhabited by humanoids" (3 white dudes appear speaking English)

the rant we expected... and didn't need... it's everywhere... I'd suspect if the show were made in a land full of purple people, we'd see purple things... this stuff is tiresome... if only people were logical...
TOS had green people, black people, asian people... and on and on... it even had half of this color half of that... they had all sizes shapes and colors for people and alien... you are off base and off topic, take this crap away!

Spencer Elden, the baby in Nevermind's cover, just sued Nirvana for child abuse.

And I say if you're going to sue, you don't get to sue the band. The economy of music these days? Come on, you know who took the lion's share of the sales of Nevermind, and it sure AF wasn't Kurt or Dave etc. Go for the soulless greed vacuums in the suits, they're the ones who take way too much money to make sure all the compensation agreements are signed etc. (and the same peeps who denied Spinal Tap's Smell the Glove first cover ). Plus you could probably attack them and they'd settle out of court for $5mil just to shut you up.

Found an old sheet of paper on the ground next to my house. Squares drawn and a "You start at the tomb" message in Spanish apparently written by a kid. It MUST be a 30+ year old text adventure map... Whoa!

Google word for definition, shitty modern band appears. Google 25yo good band, word definition appears. Thanks, Google.

As a 20 year old, I realize life is much different than... Nah, who am I kidding? I'm more than twice that! Damn....

Won't you tell me what's on your mind? If you'd open your head tell me what would I find, are you for real? What do you feel?

He who hears
In the vast silence
He who wafts
On the red wind
In extremis
He who steals
Pearls from the ashes
He who leaps
Across the precipice
Ride si sapis
(P.S.: It looks like "Ars Moriendi" means "the art of dying" and "ride si sapis" means "laugh if you know how to").

Nohing is better than William Shatner hawking the VIC-20. Except for William Shatner covering Mr. Tambourine Man.

Imagine a game with limited inventory space, a time limit, unskippable cutscenes and respawning, flying enemies that can go through walls. Does anyone know such a gem?
And maybe tank controls and 10 feet of draw distance, why not?

With the exception of the tank controls, all of that applies to Sonic 3 (& Knuckles), as you can only carry 999 rings at once, you die if the timer hits 10 minutes, there are multiple unskippable cutscenes, and there are those flying things in Launch Base Zone that you can intentionally spawn with those alarm thingies, and those go through walls.

This is one that has been up for a while, I love the copy:

The world would be a better place if *some people* had Google Scholar as their default search engine.

To the guy saying he had 15 items and he had tried licking all of them... Were you playing Space Quest IV by any chance?
