  1. Anyone ever try to use SHIELDED wire as opposed to single wires so they would not pick up stray signals and give vertical lines and other garbage? Small shielded microphone wire should work. Where the shield wire is grounded. Extra work but might be worth the effort.
  2. I use to upgrade Merit poker & keno machines with new programs and it would involve upgrading the ram chip from a 6116 16K to a 6264 64K. Had to move a jumper on the board to connect a pin for access. I always thought it would work with the 7800 too! 6116.pdf
  3. I haven't seen a cable to do that, but it shouldn't be hard to cut the end off a s-video cable and splice on a couple of rca jacks. On my 1702, I put a S-Video jack on the back and wired them to the inputs! Now I can hook anything to it.
  4. I have 3 RP2C03B chips. If I send them to you could I get a free Super 8 and you can have the other 2 chips?
  5. I remember reading about the trick in Galaga with the original roms that the programmer put in so he could walk into any arcade and get a high score. What you have to do is when the game starts, you don't shoot and wait for all the "bees" to come out and go into formation. After they start to attack, DON'T shoot the far 2 left bees, but shoot all the others. Then avoid the those last 2 bees and don't shoot them. Wait awhile while they keep attacking and shooting and going off the screen, reforming then attacking again. After awhile they will QUIT shooting while they attack. When they go back into formation and then attack again, then you can shoot them. After that, the all the bees will no longer shoot, just attack! Cool trick, works in M.A.M.E.
  6. Double Dragon brings a special memory for me. It was the first conversion kit I did at a company that ran video games. I put it into a Taito "Jungle Hunt" cabinet if I remember correctly! Took awhile. Had to strip all the old game stuff out, wiring, buttons, joystick, marquee. Then drilling new holes for 2 buttons-per player and 2 joysticks. Putting on the new control panel overlay, then pexi-glass over that and more drilling. Then add the buttons, joysticks, and wire it all up! Was a learning experience for sure, but fun because you got to be the first to play the new game! Had to make sure it worked, right?
  7. What games are you playing? Some games only use the bottom button.
  8. A cool hack would be to change the ghosts to "BEES" from Galaga! Instead of dots, stars, and the Galaxian ship for power dots!
  9. I need the front door for my 1702 if it comes to you tossing them away! Would you put it in the mail?
  10. I'd like to see the 2600 version of Super Football be redone to take advantage of the 7800's graphic capabilities! The 7800 suffers from poor sport titles. Also Hat Trick redone with true trackball support. Be fun to play having to constantly control the player around the screen!
  11. I believe the long range trick is be on that screen and "line-up" the enemy ships at the very top of the screen, fire a couple of torpedoes ON THAT screen in their direction and wait for the shots to pass over them. Then switch back to forward view and the enemies should now be in short range and ready to engage! It's used in the higher levels where they are well out of range and you have to go hunt for them. It's designed so the player has to use more time and make it possible for the Zylons to surround a Starbase and use more fuel. The first level they always seek you out.
  12. There's a guy on E-Bay that makes alternate translites/backglass replacements for real pin machines. Here's a couple of my favorites:
  13. The 5200 had some great exclusives like SPACE DUNGEON - QIX - GREMLINS - COUNTERMEASURE - BERZERK with speech! A great baseball game that's still fun to play. Better than 8-bit versions of DIG DUG - CENTIPEDE. PITFALL II with an exclusive extra level!
  14. I like people on E-Bay who no idea of what they're selling and how they go about it. Great thing, because most of the time they have a nice low starting price! Other times the price is way out in space! I think I would have started around $99.00. This one is going to be fun to watch! Never noticed before, but the screen shot of One On One Basketball is the 7800 version!
  15. Just saw this...good deal! http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FATARI-XE-VIDEO-GAME-SYSTEM-BRAND-NEW-NIB-%2F171132608393
  16. I remember you could do a Space Invaders game for any system as long as you didn't use the name. Taito only copyrighted the name. A good case is Intellivision's "Space Armanda".
  17. Could be a weak power supply, first thing I'd do would be to change the big filter capacitor at the back by the power plug. Caps dry out over time and lose their ability to filter the power or help regulate it. If any ac sneaks through it could cause lock up problems.
  18. Can't really call it GORF without the Galaxian stage! Not right!
  19. Surprised no one has bidded on this yet: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2F290970645195%3FssPageName%3DSTRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT%26_trksid%3Dp3984.m1423.l2649
  20. Saw this on Craigslist: http://eastidaho.craigslist.org/vgm/4050890067.html
  21. Anyone ever put these into a 7800? They're 64K ram chips that could replace the 6116 16K chips in the 7800.
  22. Anyone have the diagram for Electra Concepts Masterplay Interface? My idea is to convert the 3 & 4 ports on a 5200 4-port model to 9 pin 2600/Sega Master System ports and interface it with ports 1 & 2. Then just use 5200 controllers in 1 and 2 for keypad input. Then just plug in 2600/Master System controllers in 3 & 4 to play!
