  1. I use my NetUSBee to get programs onto my hard drive on my TT using a USB Flash drive. Works great for this.
  2. I have a TenoxVGA adapter. The picture is outstanding on an LCD with a 1:1 pixel ratio.
  3. I think #2 would be a better option. I would design it such that it uses threaded heat set inserts and the appropriate screws. One would need a complete 800 in hand to do this work. I found that it take multiple try’s to get a part to fit exactly right.
  4. Most home improvement sell something call “Cabinet Door Bumpers”. There are several types that are an exact match for these feet in clear or white for a whole lot less money than what you get on eBay.
  5. …and a very efficient use of four words it was sir! At this point it is still rolling strong. Oh well, something to read.
  6. Anyone seen one of these before? Is supposed to be an PC Speed for the STE. There are no markings on this anywhere. I would love to see the install instructions if anyone has them.
  7. The standard Atari one is just fine unless you need more than 16MB of ram. I did not. Problem with the Atari one is it’s hard to find for a good price. Newer board may be a better value because of this.
  8. So wireless PS2 keyboards work great, as long as you sit close enough to the receiver.
  9. No, sorry. That was supposed to say before you buy any upgrades check and see what’s inside. I was assuming he would do this once he had it at his location…
  10. It was 100% a problem in my 800xl. Several others have also had this problem. It doesn’t effect everyone, but it’s easy enough to make this mod just to be safe.
  11. The fact that it has TT ram means you can switch out the 4x1MB sims for 4x4MB sims to increase the TT memory. I would open it up first to see what’s inside before you buy anything. When I purchased mine 10 years ago the seller didn’t know it had a CaTTamaram installed, which was a nice bonus.
  12. TT is a great machine, but is not the best game machine. I would say, why Mint unless you have a specific reason to run it. I just boot into TOS. If your running applications it’s great, specifically CAD and older Desktop publishing applications. There is also a version of GAF Basic that runs on the TT. There are some nice upgrades, but I’ve always run mine with 4M of ST ram and 16M of TT ram and have never felt a need for more. I have a CaTTamaram accelerator in mine, which I love (SpeedyTT should be a better version). Unlike mikro I like the VGA output, but it works fine with my VGA monitor. If you can still get the adaptor for TT high resolution, get it. It’s awesome and I use mine 80% of the time.
  13. It looks like a non-reversible install compared to the CaTTamaram which plugs into the ST ram card and uses clips to attach wires. It looks a lot more flexible than the CaTTamaram in that you can set speeds for the FPU so you can find a speed that works with the FPU. The CaTTamaram runs the FPU at 48mHz when accelerated and I have yet to find one that runs at this speed so my TT will crash if the FPU is accessed when accelerated. I had to change the wiring on the CaTTamaram so the FPU now only runs at 32mHz which fixes the crashing.
  14. Kinda what I figured, but I thought I would ask.
  15. Due to some current life changes and a recent move the only retro computer I have setup is my 576NCU+. It’s in the living room in our media center, thank god it’s so small. Using a wired keyboard I’ve already had one tripping incident so I would really like to move to a wireless keyboard. I could purchase a used wireless PS2 keyboard but I shudder at the thought of a used keyboard. Anyhow, has only one used one yet and how do thy work? Any recommendations? I had another idea I wanted to try. If I used a PS2 to female USB adaptor could I put the receiver in the adaptor and use a modern USB wireless keyboard? I have concerns about the current draw and if the keyboard firmware would even support this. Anyone ever give this a try?
  16. One of these days I’m going to take the time to remove the best modification and see if the two meg board is stable. One of these days…
  17. I felt the same way but got one with my 576NCU+ and found out I prefer it to just about any other method of accessing files. I’m not a bbs guy myself, but do enjoy the weather app. So I guess I’m saying some times you don’t realize you need may like something until you try it.
  18. @orpheuswaking did one for me. Excellent work. We both installed the Video connector in the expansion poet using a 3D printed part freely available online. None of the available lengths were long enough for this unfortunately.
  19. Certainly wasn’t available when I was looking. Most of the people touting the CosmoEx never note this small detail. It really doesn’t matter how good something is if it’s unavailable. As for a FujiNet device I held of getting one for a long time because of other devices I had installed on my 8-bit. Didn’t see the need. One came with my 576NCU+ and it’s quickly became one of my favorite hardware upgrades.
  20. mouSTer works great with wireless USB mouse devices.
  21. I’ve found that the Mylar just starts to give problems over time. Two options would be replace the Mylar or repair with conductive pen. I’ve done both.
  22. And I made a 3D printed mount and faceplate that allowed the US to slide out so one can access the clock battery.
