  1. are you talking about the PC Game Port? Yea that's the Game Port I believe is the typical name. VGA just happens to be 15pins also in a different configuration. Ah never dealt with that before. Yea not sure how that would interface into the intellivision either. I suppose there must be a way. Just beyond my knowledge. I believe it will work, but it's funny how easy it is to get things reversed when you're dealing with these kind of adapters. A little tape would likely be all you need to insure they stay connected if it's meant to be a fairly permanent situation. wild
  2. I don't know, i'd have to open it up but i think mike does a reasonable deep dive into what's under the hood in this video.. so watch this to find your answer for sure.. if memory serves I feel like it's an 8 way setup.. switch-wise what is this for? vga? total ignorance here on this request and very curious (Thank you). I should double check this is a thing. i feel like i did but can't remember for sure. I will say that it's a bit clunky to try those adapters. I do have both kinds (female female / male male) but i'm not sure how well they will stay in.. not to shamelessly plug another product but I do now offer a INTV 2 Flashback product as well.. basically the exact opposite product in a nice compact size like the other, but.. different By the time you might buy those other parts then find things falling apart.. this honestly would be the headache free means to go the other direction.. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1696205785/intellivision-flashback-adapter-sockets ther's a 3.5mm jack on the intellivision somewhere? i'm trying to visualize how between this and a PC15 interface ties into the intellivision. Sounds interesting though
  3. @-Joe- ok i'll put you on the list. Alternatively I'm also looking to offer a docking station with a built in power supply and power on indicator as well. My partner is working on an NES project with me but once he's got that wrapped up we'll be exploring the docking station deeper to give it some nice additional features to make it even more useful. Thanks! Caleb
  4. i actually just got one of those and i do see an issue with the extension cable.. the metal sleeve around the atarivox is too wide for the extension cord.. However I can include a splitter with it optionally that would allow the atarivox to stay plugged in this way. It's the meta sleeve around the atari vox that makes it too wide. If that were removed that would solve that also, but I don't find that to be an acceptable solution.
  5. This is an early draft but it's 90% there.. much like the MCP (Master Console Protector) this helps become ab buffer between the wear of constant plugging and unplugging of joysticks in your 2600. Additionally it brings the ports to the front of your system making it easier to plug and unplug joysticks. The price will be $29.99 shipping included in the US. International is possible, I just have to know the address to give an adjusted shipping price. There will be material under the unit to provide grip on smooth surfaces. I have tested it on my two 2600s. one is a light sixer and the darth vader versions which appear to be identical in footprint. I'm not sure about the others, but adjustments can be made as I find out what folks needs are. This of course could work with any number of systems besides the 2600, but I'm looking to possibly make these custom for each system to offer the best possible low profile fit for a given system. Though I think part of it is where it makes the most sense. Some systems have their joystick ports already on the front, but still folks may like to have that protective buffer.
  6. yea i gotcha there, i've not put in a computer to see if i could read it but i'm pretty sure it should be just a typical fat32 setup cool about the stuff! yea no worries about the thread. Hopefully between now and then people see the subject at all This might just be like 4-5 folks, but I think over time this will grow as people learn about it.
  7. This is what I have. It's a cart with a microSD card in it. So it's branded with the sticker, but I'm pretty sure I can add/remove stuff to it. The GBA one is baked in.
  8. brilliant! jones.. finish that line of coke and make all joysticks on the left side! As a lefty I wanted to play guitar left handed (strum with left hand) but my dad, also a lefty, and a professional musician insisted I learn right handed, which once i got past was kinda cool because I was doing the finger work with my left hand, though I'm no Joe Satriani I still think it made my experience in making music more interesting. yea i agree, i don't see them doing that on purpose. In fact I did some googling and this appears to be the reason, at least for the NES: The famous Nintendo controller was designed in part by Gunpei Yokoi, who was responsible for the d-pad being on the left. Japanese games were different from American games at the time in that Japanese games tended to be much faster paced and had much more "action", so Japanese arcades tended to have joysticks on the left. Yea that makes a ton of sense to have two joysticks since virtually any 4 way joystick game probably doesn't even have a fire button or if it does.. like.. one.. I have a DS lite. Is it difficult to install emulators on it? Or even possible?
  9. I'm very happy with the final iteration of it. I've made some enhancements to insure solid compatibility with every cartridge out there that I could foresee being an issue. Omega Race was one tricky one as it turns out it's pins don't run as deep as most other carts but with the updated design it will work well for Omega Race and everything else!
  10. I have you down @hizzy I'm stoked to report that with some tweaks I have the 2600 MCP locking in as tight as the 2600 meaning it will stay when you pull out carts, though of course this will not allow 7800 carts to work while inserted. I am making a 7800 specific version soon that support both so if you want to hold off till that comes out, no problem. You're on till you tell me otherwise. Yes I have you down for sure. We have 4 left unclaimed.
  11. I still find this amazing.. to me this is left handed.. and as a lefty this always felt correct for me.. the 2600 joystick for example.. that was right handed.. tron.. and discs of tron.. those were right handed games.. I guess in their minds fire buttons were more important to be controlled by the dominant hand?
  12. For those wanting straight.. Cote Gamers sells a nice internal DB9 adapter kit for the 2609.. https://cotegamers.com/shop/en/accueil/137-long-play-disc-controller-adapter-for-intellivision-1.html from there you could do a few things.. 1. I sell a Flashback to INTV adapter kit and can (on request if i have things in stock, which I usually do) which would let you use the INTV Flashback (straight cord) controllers with your 2609. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1704689405/flashback-to-intellivision-controller 2. you could buy a cote longplay controller (or two) which isn't the classic design but a pretty good alternative as well. I have one and I like it. https://cotegamers.com/shop/en/accueil/136-long-play-disc-controller.html 3. get some original sears controllers and hook those up. Tougher to find and a little more $$$ or luck but it's not impossible to find them. 4. Involved, but you could cut part of the coiled wire and solder the 9 wires to a straight extension cord. I think changing the wires on the flex circuit itself would be a bit more tricky and likely to make things worse which is why I don't recommend that approach, but some folks out there could do it, but not me
  13. I don't think there is a "simple" way to do this without soldering and risk damaging the flex circuit if you're talking replacing the actual cord on the INTV II controller.. I assume that because the sears is straight and the 2609 is an attached controller. It can be done but not without surgery.
  14. Hi everyone, This is a new Widget I created to make the use of the backbit with your beloved intellivision easier. No longer do you have to hunt around to find the slot. With this each and every time you put the backbit into your system I will go in like any other cartridge. You can always contact me directly to save a couple of bucks also. 8bitwidgets@gmail.com or PM me here. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1702295046/backbit-io-intellivision-adapter-sleeve Thanks, Caleb
  15. Cool, all are welcome. This is actually going to be our first one at least since the group had gone away for some period of time. Before my time. Maybe one of the upcoming events you could give a presentation on emulation creation. I think this house is big enough for everyone I use emulation for homebrew learning / development. Also plenty of MAME and other emulation interests here. Thanks, Caleb
  16. Just want to make sure folks knew about this upcoming event. This is a free swap meet focused on classic gaming / computers / technology. Buy / Sell / Trade things. This is a first on an ongoing effort to facilitate a space for all of us fans / collectors of all things classic. There will be a technology discussions and an adam computer demonstration as well. you can read more about it here:
  17. Hi everyone, I'm going to have a booth at this upcoming one day mini-con and will be demoing various accessories like the new Atari 2600 (7800 compatible) MCP. I will have several classic consoles with me as well setup for playing games that take advantage of my unique controller couplers. This is the 2nd annual event. I had a table last year and it was a lot of fun. Come by and say "hi!" There are table space still available so reach out to Jay if you want to have a table there as well.
  18. It is a swap meet. Tim is just saying sort of because it's not JUST a swap meet. We're going to be demoing various retro technology as well as modern innovations for classic hardware. Likely some vendors of some sort as well, so buy / trade / sell is all possible. Also, yes it's totally free. No fees or anything.
  19. @Avenger75 I'll add you to the list for now. Additional shipping will likely be around $15-20. PM me your address and I can give you a solid price on what it will be. Fedex typically and that will include tracking and all that. Thanks, Caleb
  20. absolutely. i've already started a list for it so you're all set Depending on the timing of things I could hold your 2600 till the 7800 is done and send them both to save $5
  21. wise choice! =D I hope to have the 7800 done sometime in May. We have a lot of MCPs coming so it's just a matter of time, but also we're currently waiting for parts and pcbs to arrive and get soldered, etc.. Definitely no later than June.
  22. no problem I'll put you on the list. after your we have 8 left. So this is the 2600 specific version. I have enhanced it to work with 7800 as well, but we are making a 7800 specific model soon that will be a snug persistent (but of course removable) fit. If you still want one just let me know, but maybe you'd rather hold out for the 7800 specific model which is a single product that would work with 7800 and 2600 carts. I will put you down for one for now tentatively, but let me know here or PM which way you decide to go. Thanks! Caleb
  23. It's perfectly safe for the socket for long term connection The MCP PCB is standard thickness thus it puts no excessive strain/stretch on the pins. Metal memory is very strong.
