  3. So this is what we are getting thanks to the advanced tech of the Giga Cart. I probably won't buy this as I already own all three of those Tomb Raider titles for PS1. But I do think this is a good move for Evercade. Maybe the Giga Carts will give us Neo Geo games in the future like King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, Metal Slug, etc.
  4. I see someone beat me to posting the news about the Giga Cart and the newer console. I am eager to see what we get. I'm still hoping for Neo Geo games on Evercade.
  5. Pie Iesu Domine...Dona Eis Requiem!!

  6. I miss Pathmark and the commercials for them done by the late James Karen.

I got the horse right here, the name is Paul Revere, and he's the ghost of the horse that won last year.

Thank you for reporting this @7800Knight. My Japanese wife, son, and I are all big fans of Mr. Toriyama's "Dr. Slump" and Dragon Quest artwork. We us to live in Aichi-prefecture where he was from and lived. I always wondered if I ever walked passed him at some point during that time, as he was a very private man. Such a shame and a sad day for us all. Thanks again for sharing this with all of us.

  9. I don't mean to be a thread necromancer...but I'm quite happy with my Atari XEGS. I recently got the Ultimate Cart from the Brewing Academy. It works like a charm and I'm enjoying many more games, including the disk and cassette games. Games I enjoy thanks to my Ultimate cart are Time Pilot, BC's Quest for Tires, Pengo and Frogger. I plan to get many more too. Thanks again for all the advice on my Atari 8-bit purchase.
  10. I got Pitfall 2: The Lost Caverns for next to nothing at a convention...but it didn't work.  Just today, I watched a video on cleaning Atari cartridges so I disassembled it, cleaned the connectors with alcohol, used an air compressor to spray away dust, reassembled it...and it started working!  YAY!

Almost all Activision games for Atari 2600 and Colecovision have that problem. A little cleaning gets these working.

@nanochess I know.  My copy of Keystone Kapers didn't work.  Some isopropyl alcohol got it working right.  That wasn't enough for Pitfall 2 so I had to disassemble the actual cartridge.  I had never done such a thing before.

  12. My picture book Kickstarter has 7 days left!

  13. I actually own a 7800 gamepad already. I bought one years ago from B&C Computervisions at the Classic Gaming Expo 2000 in Las Vegas. I never saw it before and the vendors explained it was from the European release of the 7800 unit. I prefer using the gamepad on some games like Double Dragon. I am surprised that wasn't the sort of controller Atari released here in North America with the 7800 to compete against the NES and Sega Master System, both of which had control pads.
  14. I will be pre-ordering Ninja Golf and Fatal Run. I'm glad to hear that they are getting manuals. I watched this video a moment ago. The title makes a point. I wonder why Nintendo and Sega don't re-issue original cartridges.
  15. Ninja Golf AND Fatal Run for the Atari 7800!? I presume they will work fine on an Atari 7800 unit so I want to grab those!
  16. I'm watching GI Joe: A Real American Hero from the 1980s and realized something as an adult.  It's implied to take place in the same universe as the G1 Transformers and Inhumanoids.  That means people would be living on an Earth constantly under siege by a worldwide terrorist network, invading robots from outer space and vicious monsters!!

Ever have a single scene from an all but forgotten tv show stick out in your mind, but have no way to find it? For 38 years, mine have been D'compose from Inhumanoids. When I saw the title in your status update, I knew that was what I have been thinking about for nearly 4 decades. Thanks for helping me put that to bed.

Per your idea though, I guess that's the Hasbro Hell on Earth scenario.

@bent_pin The smoking gun is the character of Hector Ramirez, a reporter.  He has appeared in the Hasbor cartoons Transformers, GI Joe, Inhumanoids and Jem & the Holograms.

  17. My picture book Kickstarter is almost halfway finished and at 33% funding!

  18. My third children's book is over on Kickstarter now!

  19. My copy of Donkey Kong arrived for the Atari 8-bit; love playing it on my XEGS though it's much harder than I remember.

Speed issues aside, I think it's much closer to the arcade game than the ColecoVision port was. Arcade Donkey Kong was super tough, and so is this!

    2. 7800Knight

      7800Knight

@Jess RaganTell me about it!  Barrels hit Mario's head when he's climbing the ladder, killing him!

  20. It's the later waves. I have trouble shooting the ducks despite being able to hit them in the earlier waves.
  21. Yeah, the collision detection on later waves needs some work. It does look like a solid concept so far; it's a nice mashup of Barnyard Blaster with Duck Hunt.
  22. I have cartridges of Donkey Kong & Pacman on the way from Ebay. I got good deals on them. This will probably be the last time I get cartridges from Ebay though. Besides looking for them out in the wild, I plan to grab the Ultimate cart in the future.
  23. This video is very informative. I want some of those games.
  24. There is a game store within walking distance of me. While they carry a lot of more recent systems and retro titles likes NES, SNES, Genesis, etc, they also have a small selection of Atari titles. I'm going to see if any Atari 800 games are among them. I also live within walking distance of two thrift stores, one being a Goodwill. You never know what you might find; I'm sure we've read stories and watched YouTube videos about people who found rare games, unreleased prototypes or even lost media in thrift stores...but that's a whole other thread.
  25. I'll worry about the light gun and light gun games later. I'm going to check some of the local game stores and thrift stores for Atari 8-bit cartridges. This item is on my to-buy list in the near future: TBA's Ultimate-A8 SD Cartridge for Atari 400/800/XL/XE & 1088XEL/XLD – The Brewing Academy
