  1. The 7th and 8th word of the comment that you made that I quoted in my own comment. (post 4148) Im ready to accept your apology. No need to swear.
  2. Well, I’m glad the new atari has people like you to extract money from. And it is telling you call it “new Atari”. Even you aren’t under any illusions there is any connection whatsoever between the organizations with the exception of some moldy IP that has bounced around for years.
  3. Weird how Atari fans go in such opposite directions. I’m a huge Atari fan. Got the VCS in 1981. Also had a 7800 and a Lynx. I’m offended by how the current Atari is pissing on my nostalgia by hawking underpowered PCs with the same old games I got for $1.99 for my phone. I’m offended with their sketchy ethics damaging the brand. I’m offended they are jumping on the blockchain bandwagon and pimping out the name that was so important to my childhood so they can separate a few greedy idiots from their money. But hey, you got a weak PC in a pretty case with an Atari logo on it. If I put an Atari logo on my Corolla would you buy it?
  4. Maybe me and some investors can revive the Studebaker line, write some blog posts about how “we” were such an automotive innovator back in the day, come out with a warmed over clone of a 2005 Honda Civic and then plan some big festivities for our 160th year anniversary next year. I’m sure the collectors would eat it up. I mean, come on, you are drive a Studebaker!
  5. This right here is part of it for me, for sure. People can argue what is the “real” Atari but most people can agree there was continuity from the founding up until the collapse after the Jaguar fiasco. It just feels wrong to reuse the company name and model for a low-end PC. It would be like if I bought the name DeLorean and announced a new car called the DMC-12. After several years and various controversies, I released something akin to a 2015 Ford Focus. I don’t think DeLorean fans would be happy. Although, based on my experience here, I think there would be a subset of DeLoreanAge members would be so super exicited you could buy and install gullwing doors yourself.
  6. Ah yes, the PS5. The console that has sold 13.5 million units despite not being available to actually buy. It’s like the famous Yogi Berra joke: “Nobody goes there anymore, it’s too crowded!”. And the chip shortage is having no impact on the VCS at all. I was at Microcenter a few days ago and they had a few VCS consoles in stock!
  7. Your definition of “discount” is not standard English usage.
  8. Microcenter. $30 bucks off. https://www.microcenter.com/product/627563/atari-vcs-800-black-walnut-full-bundle?lat=37.73720253875559&long=-122.43697966190186
  9. Something that is still in stock and readily available, and even being discounted, during an unprecedented supply chain disruption and parts shortage is not doing quite well. Obviously there is not a significant market for the device. And yes, the console is functional. I didn’t claim otherwise. I claimed it is not making a significant impact in the marketplace. The performance of Atari SA stock since the release of the VCS indicates most investors agree with me.
  10. Yes, many people, including myself, were surprised the system came out. I’m glad it did. Given Atari’s behavior over the previous few years I didn’t think they could pull it off. I’m happy you are happy with it as a mini PC. That said, as a console is has had about the impact of a wet fart. Even in a parts shortage there are plenty in stock and they are getting discounted. The “not letting it go” is due to the controversy. Most people are ignoring the VCS right now. It likely won’t be around for long (Atari SA doesn’t have a good track record) so it’s possible you can pick up some cheap soon.
  11. Well you said the Atari had the potential of being an actual hit, and then walked your definition of "hit" so far back that any product ever that last more than a couple years (such as the 7800, Philips CD-I, or the TurboGrafx-16) would be considered hits in your eyes. Most of the mockery was based on your ludicrous redefinition of what is generally understood as "hit", to be fair.
  12. With all due respect, your definition of "hit" is very different from the standard, so different in fact as to make it meaningless (or at least very misleading). So would you consider the 7800 a hit? The Atari Portfolio? Turbografx 16? 3DO? Commodore CDTV? All of those brought in enough revenue to stay alive for a few years. I doubt most people would consider any of those (and certainly not all of them) hits. By the way, I like your youtube series!
  13. You're obviously not a lawyer. In less time than it would have taken to move the goalposts to defend Atari's actions you could have looked it up on Wikipedia and seen wage theft is precisely not paying someone for work done. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wage_theft And trying to muddy the waters about Wyatt doesn't work. Atari also screwed Feargal Mac Conuladh out of money owed him and ended up settling out of court. I also noticed you only focused on the Llamasoft stuff with regards to lying. They also faked gameplay footage. Do you want to weasel-word that to "misrepresentation" as well?
  14. They lied multiple time showing fake gameplay (and then making excuses when called out). https://www.kitguru.net/gaming/ryan-burgess/atari-vcs-faked-gameplay-footage-as-well-as-showing-a-port-the-creator-knew-nothing-about/ https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2020/04/xbox-architect-sues-atari-over-unpaid-work-on-crowdfunded-console/ Tin Giant didn't get paid for the work they did. Atari also don't bother showing up in court. https://www.theregister.com/2020/06/03/atari_wages_lawsuit_default_judgment/ So, yeah, they lie, cheat, and steal (wage theft is theft). And you don't have to follow 1000 posts. You just have to be paying attention.
  15. Stocks are so 20th century. He's drowning in cash from the Atari Token (ATRI) release. It went from $0.25 to currently at $0.10. That's how you make money in blockchain, right? He also has a couple of sockpuppets in the reddit group he's shilling with to pass the time between cashing enormous checks.
  16. Powerdubs, obvs. If he can just get some excitement going... well his stock is TO THE MOON.
  17. Once you buy another drive + a Windows 10 license. You will! (for a bit more than you would pay just getting a windows mini PC)
  18. Honestly, this was likely a bug rather than a feature. Nepostism isn't usually super effective, and given the reputation the Tramiels brought over from Commodore (especially with respect to how they treated their dealer networks) I imagine making a break would have been wiser.
  19. I'm not sure being designed in-house should be a requirement to be a company's system. Beyond the Lynx, both the 7800 and the Jaguar were also designed by other companies (General Computer Corporation and Flare, respectively). I think that's what you were getting at with the Lynx. The difference with the current Atari is the complete and utter lack of continuity. This is just the latest in a long line of "entities" squeeze a few coins out of a tired IP. I think the VCS shares some characteristics with a console, but just doesn't feel like one to me.
  20. Uhhhh.... this is a feature? If this had been part of the original IGG campaign I would never, ever back it.
  21. I'm a long-time (as in a decade plus) lurker and have only started to, ahem, "contribute". So, let me take the first cut at a FAQ: 1. Is the Atari VCS a scam? Not exactly, but it sure shares some characteristics with one! Beyond the lies, the changing stories, and interminable delays, it is likely the VCS will ship. It will be the minimum quality required to avoid lawsuits. 2. What's the deal with Atari Token? Cynical cash grab. 3. What's with all the lies? They are running an experiment to see how far they can push their backers and still have them shill for them around the internet. PowerDubs is actually an AI. 4. I heard that you can only install Windows on an external drive, how could that be true? It is true, sadly. The design is that bad. 5. Why aren't they shipping the consoles to backers who didn't buy the joysticks? You don't understand "business" do you, son? 6. How many excuses can these guys come up with? Well, the customs one was genius. It's odd that now they are implying that customs has released some of the joysticks. It sure doesn't sound like the customs service I'm familiar with...
  22. Don't forget the Atari Shit Token, where you can monetize your in-shit belongings (maggots, the old undigested kernel of corn or blueberry, etc) and gamble with them online at the Shit Casino or pay for vacations at any of 1 worldwide Shit Hotels (Tucson, AZ). Uh, oh, looks like you stepped in a pile of blockchain!
  23. Actually the one place where the VCS shines is in how I looks. I think the unit it beautiful. What they should have done is made a custom Raspberry Pi case. They could have probably delivered on that in a few years.
  24. I think you missed the creative hacking community that will inevitably arise to modify the VCS. Just off the top of my head, I imagine it can be repurposed to prop open kitchen cabinet doors, or press the water out of tofu.
