  1. Hi, I'm looking for Atari 1020 printer with box and possibly full set. I'm only interested in offers from Europe due to lower costs of postage (and the best from UE as there is no customs there but I will also consider offers outside UE if any). Anyone would like to "give his Atari 1020 in good hands" with reasonable price? :)
  2. Hi, As there is not a good forum here, let me put this small post in this one and let me invite you to have a look on simple DIY console. After all, 8-bit computers were also computers "close to the hardware", and at least I see something in common... The microprocessor used here belongs to the legendary family with roots in similar years as the 8-bit Atari, Commodore or ZX Spectrum. *** What a fun! The MCS-51 family chips (Intel 8051 and successors) are used in billions of different devices around the world! Is it possible to use such a famous microprocessor and install it in a game console instead of in an airbag in a car? In a simple and self-assembled at home? Yes, it is! A short reportage! *** A bit of fun (btw there are three easter eggs hidden in the video ;)), and a bit of retro (processor from the legendary MCS-51 family), and also some basic information how to construct simple electronic devices and a short analysis of the schematic diagram. https://youtu.be/Bvjog2xcoE0
  3. Not even a single comment? 🙁 Do you have plans to buy a new Flashback Gold 50th Anniversary edition? Is that easy available? As here in Europe/Poland it's a total disaster to get one... 😟
  4. Hi! This video gave me goosebumps! I had to decorate the Christmas tree in mid-October! Atari 2600 went smoke... a lot of smoke... And someone was shooting at Santa Claus with a blue laser... More seriously: 🎄 Atari 2600 VCS and Flashback X 42 years of evolution in IT (what is inside? ABC of electronics) *** The legendary console was launched in 1977! In the 1970s and 1980s, such a gift was eagerly awaited under the Christmas tree! Was it the best-selling console in history and the longest in production? How has electronics and computer science changed over the years? As a bonus, games you know and others you probably don't! *** I invite you to a movie screening! Tickets at the box office! Just don't be late, because after the start, latecomers will not be allowed into the hall! For lovers of nice pictures of discrete elements and chips, this video is a real delight! P.S. Being introduced in December 2022, the next version of the Flashback X console called Flashback Gold Special Edition 50th Anniversary (50th Anniversary) is basically a twin copy of the model featured in this video with added paddles and more games. But that's what you probably know quite well.
  5. True in case of ZooKeeper this effect can be removed as you said (thanks for giving me this hint I've checked it! ). However it still doesn't remove "blinking animals". My biggest point was that it looks much better and more natural on tv or even on video grabbed directly from video output than on Stella emulator. Perhaps there is some chance for improvements hmmm....?
  6. Yeah, I noticed this Phosphor option in Stella 2600 emulator. It helps a bit but solved the problem only partially. I have monitor set to 60Hz.
  7. Hi! Sometimes I'm use Stella emulator (yeah I know it's terrible to use it instead of real console). Some games which are made for NTSC/PAL 60 frames have quite often terrible blinking elements. Example of games: Donkey Kong VCS (remake) https://forums.atariage.com/topic/206497-dk-vcs/page/22/ Zoo Keeper https://champ.games/downloads Turbo Arcade https://champ.games/downloads Not sure if it's purely related with 60 frames refresh rate or with some effect of trying to achieve more colors by multiplying two frames one by one. For example Donkey Kong "sprite" is terribly blinking in initial intro. Do you know by what it is caused and how can I avoid it? Is any Stella emulator new version removing this effect in plans? Thanks for help.
  8. Thanks for trying helping. I hope that perhaps other guys will have some more information. It's worth to try to keep somehow this part of the history...
  9. Thanks to all guys for very interesting comments. I'm happy starting such an interesting thread. @NorbertP This episode you gave the link and the way of transmission itself is fascinating. Do you have perhaps any photos of the device which was used for this transmission on end user side? And what means ALL next to this pattern? For all computers in Basicode? @Kr0tkiThanks for being fan of my small youtube channel. Yeah I accept your criticism. However please note that it's fully not commercial small channel thus I'm not earning even 1 dollar on that. Concerning your second question, I destroyed fully my channel and re-build it from zero. The reasons are on community tab on the channel. All videos are new although based on the old ones. I didn't make full log of changes however... You demand too much from me. @MrMaddog that's also explanation for you. Why do you expect the worse from others? Do you know how much effort it required to prepare a new video in the style like mine? @TGB1718 I would be grateful for any more info about this photo diode detector. Schematic diagram? Photos? @x=usr(1536) Any more info about this ZX Spectrum teletext receiver?
  10. And if yes, what was that and from which station or how was it organized? Do you know any other untypical ways of downloading software from 70s or 80s? For starting the discussion:
  11. Bonjour, Do you know these titles? I'm almost sure that no... Polish games for Atari 8-bit developed after 2000 *** Atari is still alive! Many passionate people even now create amazing games for this computer! Some seems to exceed the hardware capabilities! An unforgettable journey through the best Polish titles developed after 2000! ***
  12. Hi, I have a small challenge with my Atari Flashback X console. Everything works well (in particular menus), until I enter any game. Then the following message is displayed: Info The wireless joystick will not work properly when paddles are plugged in. Please remove paddles when not playing a paddle game. And sure it's not possible to play any game and this message is permanent (or more precisely blinking). Any idea what might be the reason? Any chance to get X console joystick schematic diagram and console itself diagram?
  13. Thanks for this info. However if I would like to use this shield line, how should I connect it using usb charger? Btw, not every 800Xl has luminance and chrominance in montitor socket...
  14. Atari 8-bit emulator (Windows/Linux) *** Go back to the amazing era of 8-bit computers! Run old games and programs on your home computer under Windows or Linux! ***
  15. Sure you don't have to convince me that shielding is important. Do you think that Atari minus and Atari shield can be connected together to usb minus pin? Or should it be solved in a different way?
  16. Hi, Let me propose discussion about emulators for Android: ZX Spectrum, Atari, Commodore Emulators for Android *** Can three legendary computers be put in one pocket? Taken effortlessly on vacation? Used for fun on the way to school or work? Let's check it out! Amazing devices still provide great 8-bit entertainment, only now on smartphones! It's definitely worth to watch this video! ***
  17. Ok that's clear. Althought I've never heard 0V line expression. In my country we usually say ground/earth/mass/zero line (everything but just no 0V) :P. Currently many people when using usb cables to connect atari computers to usb power supplies skip shield line and don't connect this pin to anything. However if we look on usb port pinaout, we have data+/data-/vcc/ground. Wouldn't be it better to connect both minus and shield pins in atari socked to ground usb pin?
  18. True but still many people dreamed about Radmor product. And now many people regret that they sold or throw away their products and the prices of second hand devices are quite high on Polish "ebay" called allegro. Moreover please note that in the transformation era 80/90s many Polish audio/tv companies were destroyed. Radmor survived and they are managing quite well although today they don't produce Hi-Fi towers (unfortunately in my humble opinion). Please catch your uncle. Perhaps he could say sth interesting? Btw, do you know how to add here embedded video? None of tags I expected to work really worked.
  19. Hi, Have you ever heard about Hi-Fi audio systems produced by Radmor? Let me invite you to watch a bit untypical video about one very interesting exhibition: Iconic Hi-Fi towers, equipment for marine, military and diving (Radmor) *** Reportage from the exhibition dedicated to the legendary Radmor company products. Do you remember those iconic Hi-Fi towers from the 80's? In addition, equipment for ships, divers and army. Welcome! *** https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yk_FwGXTK4
  20. Hi, Just returning to this a bit older thread. There is also one pin called shield. I know that most people skip it and don't connect. For simple curiosity how is that connected in genuine Atari power supply. Is that connected to the ground line in the socket in the wall? How risky is that if we don't connect it? I would say the risk is very low but...
  21. Very good point. However some guys prefer more complicated solutions than just hitting "ignore" button within 1 sec. And this thread is interesting for many people, otherwise it would not have 13 pages of messages.
  22. It's not my video, but I've just found it and it seems to be also quite interesting when comparing Atari vs Commodore:
  23. Wiki has only one photo of the terminal itself and the licence given excludes using if for my purposes. Concerning archivie.org not sure about licensing part but I guess you can use photos from them only for private purposes.
  24. I'm not expert here but I'm wondering if this SUM3 suggest something? I found some of the similar batteries, ex. here: https://www.hisupplier.com/product-39188-SUM-3-AA-Size-Battery/ However all are described as single use batter and not chargeable battery. And all are Zinc-Chloride batteries or similar, ex. zinc chloride-manganese dioxide (mercury free). Also that Japanese title suggest that it's single use battery. However it's still amazing that one battery lasted so long...
