  1. Regarding the Chris Crawford comment, was this in his book called Chris Crawford on Game design or another article? I bought a new sealed copy of eastern front and opend it up to play. Even the manual was well done.
  2. As a newcomer to the Atari scene I know that Star Raiders was considered the killer application for the Atari home computers. How did Star Raiders II compare. Which one would you buy?
  3. Hi ya Aaron, It's Paul from London...Are you trying to make a profit from those Atari Users I sent you Best of luck to you mate, nice to see you are still around.. Hey Paul, nice to hear from you. Fire me a PM with your current email, was looking for it a few weeks back to see how you were. I'm hoping someone who has time on their hands can scan the Atari Users to PDF, as storing all these mags isnt an option here any more. Im a UK giving living in Chicago, would be interested in the Atari users and also getting them scanned into PDF
  4. Just curious to hear about what you are writing in Action? Just about to start getting into Action! coding myself so interested in hearing what other people have or are building with it?

  6. Don't know about dial-up but you can telnet thru internet to mine (link below). How does that telnet work? I'm getting back into the 8 bit after 22years away, can say I'm starting all over again but I'am excited.Have 130xe but don't know what I'm going to do for monitor, want to get new lcd but willl it work with e-bay s-video cord? I have just got a new 130XE and have it hooked up to an LG LCD with the eby s-video cord. Amazing in the world of high speed computers to have spent a fun few hours sitting in front of my monitor tapping Action! code into a computer from around 1983 :-)
  7. I have been trawling the archives of the group comp.sys.atari.8bit and found a link to a Atari user group which publish a series of 21 lessons covering how to program with the Action! language. Note this usenet group as about 3500 messages relating to programming in Action!. If I could get a usenet feed and get them all into my news reader it might be worth trying to produce a document with all the useful information, code snippets etc. For all those Action! fans this may be a useful resource especially if you do not own the manual. You can read the newsletter with the first lesson here http://www.spaceweb.us/newsletter/1995/news9501.html Enjoy!
  8. How fast was it delivered? Ordered mine on the 16th so probably a while to wait but i'm impatient :-)
  9. Can someone recommend a source to get my Atari 130XE displaying on an LCD using either S-Video or composite etc? I see a seller on Ebay but would like your thoughts on best cables etc.
  10. Just received my new Atari 130XE. Guess there is no point in sending the registration card :-)
  11. Did you ever finish your game in Action?
  12. As a total Assembler newbie (did some very basic stuff (x86/Z80 years ago). Curious to know which is better, the atari assember cartridge or the Mac/65 from OSS.also noticed OSS did a set of macros to add functions for screen drawing etc? As a newbie the atari assembler cartridge will be more than enough for my efforts but just interested in thoughts on assemblers. I have no ambitions about building the nex killer game on the Atari etc but thought it would be fun to have a play with low level programming as I spend all my time in a highler level world with C# etc.
  13. Has anyone found a North American version of this monitor yet? I searched for an hour and the best I could find had component and composite but no s-video. Anyone? look here http://www.lge.com/us/computer-products/monitors/index.jsp First one I looked at had s-video. Look at the pdf spec sheets to see all the inputs. They don't list everything on the web page specs. THis one looks good http://www.lge.com/us/products/documents/m237wdpmSpec.PDF As i have multiple retro consoles I think its time to replace my 19inch dell monitor... Thanks! Found this link which indeed shows the number of inputs this LCD supports http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage.as...rs%20-%20Retail

  19. Just won a new in box Atari 130XE on ebay!. Looking forward to getting an SIO2PC? cable to hook it into my server etc. Also looking forward to having a play with 6502 assembler and following some of the books on atariarchives.com. Now need to source an Atari assembler cartridge or is there a ROM I could ron under emulation. Write some code then transfer back. Whole new world to learn Seller I got my Atari from had 3 130XE's with sequential numbers. Noticed another seller trying to sell a box of 3 new 130xe's. Looks like there could be a glut of these coming onto ebay. Gosh never thought i would get so excited about getting an 8-bit computer! now looking for a 7800
