AvP is a slow, plodding, strategic game. It's not fast-paced and linear like DOOM or Wolfenstein. Definitely not a game for everyone. It's easily one of the more sprawling and impressive games on the system though.

If you leave A v.P on you can eventually kill all the Aliens. Good stuff. Almost solved that one. Just one hatched egg on the last level.... :P Good game.

I experienced this summer playing my Mega Drive on an LCD (because it is more portable) on an event, and was shocked how my Mega Drive games suddenly looked like mediocre Master System.^^ So without a CRT, the Meister is godsent. A friend of mine has it, and it delivers what it promises. But hard to justify if you have a CRT

I do not own Sled Storm for the PS2, I believe it's more like SSX and less like Sled Storm.

Yeah it's pretty great haha. Really reminds me of Nintendo/Rare's N64 platformers with much more enjoyable collecting goals. The level layouts are really outstanding.

Enjoyed Blades of Steel and Double Dribble for the NES. Loved how you could just pick up the controller back then and play. Sports games these days are to darn complicated!

    3. Nutsy Doodleheimer

      Nutsy Doodleheimer

@Bigfriendly. Agree!! It seems you have to push and hold the analog stick down, hold the shoulder buttons, and press 4 or 5 buttons to make a play. Directional pad and a couple buttons is all it should take.

    4. bigfriendly

      bigfriendly

It just too damn much! Maybe I'm just getting old and don't have the time and patience anymore. When I think back over the last 30+ years it seems like the 16-bit systems had a good balance. The three buttons on the Geneses seemed to be enough to add some depth while still keeping the games fairly simple.

Meh.. That's fine and all, but a 5/5 rating makes no sense when you clearly state the (several) flaws the game has. A 5/5 indicates it is perfect in every way, which you clearly described it isn't. Your reviews at this point in the cycle are beginning to defy any kind of sensible logic. :|

    3. 108 Stars

      108 Stars

Another review, another one I can't agree on. SA being one of the "all time greats"... oh dear. It was a technical achievement, and probably as good as a version of Sonic you can do in 3D unless you lower the speed (making Sonic pointless), but it is still so heavily flawed that it can't hold a candle to any of the 2D Sonics. In a 5 point scoring system, I'd give it a 2,5 or 3 max

Sonic Adventure was more mind blowing to me when it came out then Mario 64 was. Great game.

I strongly disagree with this review. Shinobi on the SMS is pretty awesome. Ninja Gaiden wins in the bosses, speed and story department, but Shinobi wins in audio, graphics and game design. The soundtrack is pretty memorable contrary to what the video says; can't say I remember a single NG track though. And the game design is better because Shinobi is just not so much focused on memorization. NG you have to memorize to get anywhere, Shinobi is designed around always giving you a fair chan...
