  1. Does anyone know, off hand, if the Amiga version of Elite has something like the "J" key function, on the C64 version, that will invert the flight controls? It makes it easier to shoot from the rear view.
  2. My daughter found this NES-101 top loader w/dogbone controller at an antique store for $40. Not a smokin' hot deal but she called me and I told her to get it for me.
  3. I've only had something like this happen to me once. I ordered some electronics components/microcontrollers from Thailand back in 2008. The package arrive to me late, opened, and re-sealed with green colored tape marked U.S. customs.
  4. I picked one up in trade on this site. Traded a ColecoVision for it.
  5. My mom only had a Sears credit card back then so most of my games were from them. Almost all the department stores sold the games, but I do recall seeing them being sold at a Safeway grocery store. I thought that was odd, at the time.
  6. I could have sworn I uploaded a pic of mine back in Feb, but apparently not. I used the same box from Radio Shack that you used. I happened to see the pictures I took of it on my camera just last week, but needed space so I deleted them. Anyway, where can I find the old FAQ with the PNP and resistor info? I can't seem to find it anymore. It looks like you made yours from the same old FAQ I had. I made the adapters back in '98 and at the time, I couldn't find the correct resistors at Radio Shack. That was before the time of ordering from mouser on the net, so I just used specs as close as I could find. However, since I didn't get the right resistors, my controller only works for a little while and then craps out. I've been wanting to fix it the right way, but can't find the specs anymore. For whatever reason the 7800 adapter using transistors is in the 2600 FAQ. http://www.atariage.com/2600/faq/index.html?SystemID=2600#sega
  7. Excellent person to deal with.
  8. Mini Super Nintendo with all the hook-ups and one controller. Also, includes Super Mario World. Everything works great. I did remove the security screws and installed a green power led on it. Asking $50 - PayPal preferred. Free shipping for USA buyer. PM me if interested. Thanks.
  9. Yep, ferrite bead inductor. It only serves as a jumper though. I've converted stuff to work as 7800 two button sticks and omitted that part entirely without any issues.
  10. Neo-Geo extension cables work well also. They are molded, without the metal bits, just like the 5200 stuff. However, they seem to be overpriced for the most part.
  11. I believe you get two button support using sega pads (sms/genesis) with it. I built dozens of masterplay clones that I sold on this site that worked that way.
  12. You need to obtain pirated eproms in order to test the thing. Like these pictured below:
  13. These are a few I really liked playing back in the mid 80s when I had my Apple //e: Cavern Creatures Moebius Broadsides Karateka Castle Wolfenstein & Beyond Castle Wolfenstein Skyfox Taxman Spare Change Space Ark Stellar 7
  14. Nein. No mod that takes signals from the GTIA will work with the 2600 adapter.
  15. There's an article here from1984 that shows how to build your own mod, but it also shows all the tie points to the 400 mother board that would work with this new mod as well. Since the 5200 is basically a repackaged 400 and I don't see why the new mod wouldn't work with it. Free bump for the OP!
  16. Yes. I used a project box with a 9-pin male adapter and ran a genesis cable (I have many so I sacrificed one for the cable) out the other end to connect it up to the 7800. Also serves as a controller extension cable. I did find the six-button pads I have wouldn't work with it, but it wasn't official sega so ymmv on that. Although not in the completed picture, I did put the power led light on it eventually.
  17. I did the FAQ mod on mine about five years ago and found it worked quite well using s-video on a tube tv. I did try and hook it up to a lcd projector and found it didn't look so good. I made a little adapter cable that goes from two male rca plugs to a female s-video so I could use a standard s-video cable since I couldn't find a s-video socket at the time. You can fudge composite by hooking the luma and chroma out into a rca y-connector and it works fairly well. Not nearly as sharp as s-video, however. The only real error I found with the FAQ mod was the chroma point was not correct, it was actually the next resistor over. I guess if my tube tv that I use for my 5200/2600 ever dies, I'll look into one of these newer mods to work with a lcd/plasma tv.
  18. I've used toothbrush with toothpaste on mine before and then boiled it. So not really sure which method got it working.
  19. You need to adjust the little centering pot inside your 5200 console. I made a masterplay clone for myself and it basically didn't work at all until I properly adjusted the little pot inside the console. I used Super Break Out to make the adjustment but Missle Command will work as well, just turn the thing a few times back and forth and then, with your redemption plugged in the controller port, adjust it so that the paddle/cursor is centered on your screen. After you do this your Redemption should work just fine. I know on some games, Galaxian comes to mind, you have to kinda thrash the stick around a few times before they work even after you make the centering pot adjustment.
  20. DG413L Thanks!! I guess the little yellow LED is to illuminate the two adjustment pots so you can see them when the box is closed?
  21. Looks very well made, even has a real pcb. Well worth $55 if your unable to construct such things on your own. What is the number on the IC it has inside?? I couldn't read from your pics. Just get a neo-geo/5200 extension cable to hook it up properly, that arrangement of yours looks dangerous. ETA: Does it do two-button support with sega pads??
  22. He's got his screen shots mixed up. He has another auction for a Supercharger and that what the screen is from.
  23. I really like playing this game, but I don't like having to get to the console to hit reset in order to start/re-start a game. I have the cartridge, but play almost exclusively from a copy on my harmony cart. I'd like the game to start with a simple fire-button press instead of the reset switch. I have a big TV and sit way back from where the console is so can anyone hack the rom to do that?
